Amazing. Solar is the future. Great video and great work all around. I've seen a lot of videos with the normal e-bikes towing solar panels and a battery pack to charge the ebike. It's an extremely simple design and it works, but it's not nearly as space effective or practical as your model. Keep it up! I hope our world embraces solar over oil and coal sooner rather than later!

thanks- thats the aim, please share my videos to encourage others to start using eco-products, making new products, inventing etc etc.. we can make a difference, cheers.

Beautiful build. Some people who used a shock fork and a powerful motor up front had a problem. The motor pulled the shock fork off their bikes. Again, beautiful build.

thanks, ideally i would'nt have had the shocks but what was on bike, cheers

Thanks, no unfortunately not, solar panels aren't strong enough yet- would need quit a lot but i'm working on a system to charge 1 battery whilst using another - then swap over.

I have a similar project for my front wheel drive recumbent bike with an 18 V motor assist coupled to the rear wheel.For now doing tests with a partial rear fairing which makes me 7% faster at 20 kmph, a front one does not give similar results but makes the ride more comfortable in the wind and rain.Great etrike,i'd say.

Nice build, very creative. But can you be more detailed on the specs? How many hours of recharging, are those 15AH batteries, how many miles can it do on one charge and last but not least; is it allowed on public roads?
@Ernie-Tech8 жыл бұрын
ohw and by the way; would it be an idea to make those solar panels stand out flat when parked so they can catch more daylight during charging ?

Regenerative braking? The existing wheel rim caliper brakes don't seem adequate for the additional weight of batteries, motor, et cetera. Recommend fitting some bicycle disc brakes, like the ones used on mountain bikes.

Great idea and build. Why does it cost 1p per mile to run if you are using solar panels? How much did you spend making it?
@Mikeecoman7 жыл бұрын
Good question- 1st 1 to ask that !!, well its because its an average mains charging cost for the average month- due to the fact the solar cant fully charge the trike for the distance I travel, also you would need it charging each day for 6-8hrs and used it for short night journeys for it to be totally FREE, cheers
@Mikeecoman7 жыл бұрын
£600
@benpar81205 жыл бұрын
Well done. Do you mean it costs 50p a mile to run? Why don't you leave the roof on and keep a Solar panel on their permanently?

GREAT JOB!! I like the build. If you ever wanted to add a controller--like if the trike was parked outside and the battery was pretty much full--check out Julian Ilett's PWM with arduino and some of the other folks' work making it (schematics, etc.). I want to say it was Adam Welch... yes, Adam Welch has a channel with two builds of the PWM and links to schematics. Again, great job!!!

You should make a business building solar powered bikes/ trikes. An environmentally conscious person and a human rights activist would love a vehicle like this. I would buy this over a non fair trade lithium ion battery mined by slaves any day.Especially if it were compact and had folding abilities.

in favour of any E-trike that has no saddle and if don't have to hook up to a power supply even better and pay electricity bill. Power company are all for E-bikes hook up at home and pay for power .If have a E-bike make own solar power better still get someone Qualified to rig up solar power pack safety first. Anything with a relative big surface area for solar panel. Nothing to ridicules and not too low to the ground that no one see you.
