Great video Jun. One critique though, you HAVE to stop thumbing the spool. You have a quality reel there, with a fantastic drag system, you need to let the drag do what it is supposed to do. Set it before you fish, and don't touch it again.

Is it possible to turn the boat around so you can face the fish for an easier landing?
@MoreThanFishing2 жыл бұрын
We need to keep the boat moving forward, once you turn around you’ll get a slack in your line and big chances loosing the fish. The fish could go around the boat or can go under the boat

How do you know how much line to let out in order for your deep diver to reach certain depths? Ie: If you want to reach 40ft how much line are you letting out? The packaging doesn't explain this. Cheers
@MoreThanFishing2 жыл бұрын
the diver will have about 60 degree angle 📐 so, if I want my bait at 40’ deep I pull out my line (1ft/pull) 45x.

@@MoreThanFishing Had my PB on and I couldn't get it in myself because I didn't shorten the leader. It was a hard learned lesson to see that 30 pound fish get away. Now I put a short 1ft leader in front of the flasher or 2 ft for a dodger and then 3 ft or less from the flasher to the anchovy.

Congrats June! When putting your motor with strong winds/current it tends to overheat and shut off, my motorguide does it too, especially if its hot out. Not sure if its the battery or connection that could be the issue too. What a hog of a King, welcome to the 30lb club! Still have yet to get mine on the GL, so far just a couple outings with a 20lber and in the teens.

Nice job!!! I know you wanted to tire him out, but I think when he's just towing behind the boat it's actually giving the fish a chance to replenish it's energy. 45 minutes is a long time, fortunately it didn't come undone!! Nice video work as well!!!
@arnoldlueders75002 жыл бұрын
Congratulations! I'm not saying this to ruin the moment but you really need to net your own fish. It's such a sense of accomplishment in a kayak when you net a king salmon that big. It's not to diminish in any way what you accomplished but over 50% of fish this size get lost at the boat or kayak I should say. I stumbled onto your video as I caught a 30.49 lb king salmon in my kayak last night off of Port Washington Wisconsin. You did everything right and you would have been able to net that fish yourself.
@andrewbland6252 жыл бұрын
Were you weighing it before securing it on a clip? I could just see that fish falling from the scale and flopping into the water. Also, there's no need for such a long leader. A 2' leader is all you need and you have way more control of the fish at the boat. I see kayakers out there all the time with short rods and leaders so long they can't net their own fish. So many ways this could have gone wrong. Anyway, nice job, beautiful salmon.

You gave a lot of us serious anxiety with that first fish, bro! Fought it for so long, then pulled it out of the net without first putting it on the stringer. Also, please put your motor remote around your neck. That way, you'll never sit on it or lose it in the water. Glad you caught those fish.
