Citroen Berlingo Micro Camper/Utility Van - Simple Conversion -
Having finally got my van it was time to get to work converting it into a dual purpose micro camper that doubles as a utility van - in other words I'll also be using it for working out of.
It was hard work! Especially taking out/removing the bulkhead!

Thank you. I have searched so much to find someone taking out this exact bulkhead. I think I'm not the only one. You could probably improve views if you added taking out berlingo van bulkhead to your description so people can find it. Fortunately someone in a Facebook group shared your video when I asked for help.

Really enjoyed watching this video and a build I could actually do myself rather than needing to be a skilled carpenter!! I've been carcamping for 12 months in a vauxhall mokka. I love yhe car but the head height is challenging. I'm only 5ft 1 and I can't sit upright in the boot. Thanks again, I'll stick around and watch more of your vids 👍🏻

Interesting build. I happen to have a Berlingo Van myself, and may want to use it as a microcamper, too. The only issue is that it's an Electric, and registered as a 'class 2 Van'. Which means I can't touch that bulkhead behind the seats.(My bulkhead is a single piece with window, so a simpler design, with screws top and bottom) If I do anything, I'll first get the registration changed, then cut the bulkhead in half down the middle, and install some sort of rails to slide it along, so that it still looks like a regular bulkhead. Mine is the K9 version(2008 - 2018) and on mine there's a lot of space under the floor where the rear passenger footwells would be in a passenger car. I'm slowly working on fitting a diesel-powered cabin heater there... (Electric Berlingos have bugger-all range, and if you use the heater, even less, so a diesel-powered one is a good range extender ) One thing you should take notice of is that up on top of the walls there are two sturdy brackets. They're there for the Modutop on the MultiSpace, and on some versions without Modutop you could fit 'internal roof rails' there. I just used a pair of extensible painting handles, drilled and mounted M8 bolts in the ends, and... perfect fit. One guy even used IKEA Curtain rods... www.berlingoforum.com/thread-21814-post-139544.html#pid139544 I used to transport my fishing rods and hiking staves up there in my old Berlingo(MultiSpace.) Doesn't work so well with a Van because the one rod gets too close to the bulkhead.

I am looking at the Berlingo myself at the moment, still my budget doesn't fit my desired object...you can so easily burn money buying a used car....😮

Great job you did with the van, nice simple and basic.Simple solution for the bed. I intend one day to do a small camper one day with a Pug Partner. You can always change and improve things as time goes on.

looking good but you really need to insulate the ceiling not just for heat but rain noise or worse still hailstones !! also a simple curtain to separate the drivers cab from the back will help with privacy and the cab will heat up much quicker on cold winter mornings

Good progress, if you still have it, I’d consider cutting the wooden racking down to make it slimmer to the same width as the wheel arch covers, the racking will hold lots of your bits and bobs, plastic storage boxes are ideal for keeping stuff safe. Can’t help thinking a LWB van would have been a bit more suitable though😂 Says the bloke who won’t camp in tents anymore !😜

The racking has gone 😅 The Beast was LWB and yes ideally it would be more suitable. However because this is for work too reliability is a big factor and this was the newest in my price range. Yes I could have looked longer but time was also a factor. And to be quite honest, I'm loving benefits of the SWB - turns on a penny, easier to find parking slots, lower profile - it's ticking a lot of boxes and is fun to drive. Oh, and it's way more fuel efficient than I thought it would be, more so than the beast and that wasn't bad.

Nice one, Karl. I have a 2014 Peugeot Partner van that I have had since new. I am planning on turning it into a micro-camper. To start with, it will be a DIY fit-out using kit I already have, with the mind to doing a removable boot jump-type fit-out next Spring once I know what works for me. May I suggest some sound deadening on the panels and roof, now your bulkhead is removed, it could sound a bit tiny when on the road! ATB, Dave 😃

Çurious why you didnt drop the third seat as it folds flat to floor and your feet can then reach to the dashboard, if you had the bed on that side?

Iv got a no build 'build' started in my old belingo. It's a very tiny space but I can sit in it and lie in it. Rear seats have to come out. Glad I didn't film my first effort 🤦

@@prairrie I love it my van. I've done all sorts of trips on it since this video. It's basic but functional. This summer I was going to finish insulating and carpeting it and never got round to it. But it doesn't matter because I still had fun camping in it last winter 😁👍
