Yara I’m so sorry you had a negative encounter with Kenyan police. I’m hearing this over and over again from tourist visiting African countries. You were so gracious and nice and did not try to speak negatively of the police encounter. I don’t think I could be so gracious. I am sick and tried of the fact that black people can’t seem to go anywhere without encountering some kinda BS. I’m American of African descent AND this is one reason why I am unwilling to visit African countries. I already deal with racial profiling and police harassment in the US. One thing that keeps me from travelling is the corruption in all the most interesting places! Getting a shake-down by local and federal police is a terrible thing to have to deal with and it seems to be common practice in the best places. Maybe some day before I die I will feel safe travelling to Egypt, Iran, Syria, Turkey and elsewhere in the Middle East to walk around and see in person some of the most magnificent ancient stone architecture on Earth. Maybe consider Peru, Columbia and Mexico to see those ancient stone works but still, seems like there are too many crooks roaming around on Earth. Those most interesting ancient places are just too violent and unstable.
