"The Plot Against America" centers on a working-class Jewish family in New Jersey as they watch the political rise of aviator-hero and xenophobic populist Charles Lindbergh, who becomes president and turns the nation toward fascism. Your hero refused to decry the KKK until a speech was spoon-fed to him. Prior to that, he referred to them as "fine people." It's been clear that his true feelings are what he speaks off-the-cuff. The amount of hate that must exist in someone's soul to continually defend him is frightening to consider. One line in the show put it best: "There's a lot of hate out there, and he knows how to tap into it."
