I had the same epiphany this year in October. I've been my mums full time carer since 2009. I was 22 and it's not 2021 and I'm 35. It clicked and I was like "holy crap balls....who tf am I outside of my job for the past almost 13 years?!! All I've really known is this in my adult life and the world has just passed me by". Got into weekly therapy in mid October and now feel like I'm on a good path to Me 😊

As a retired counselor, I learned through school and experience that in order for a good relationship to last, you must take care of YOURSELVES (ind. self), and take equal care of each other. The one that gets me through ALL of life's conflict, I put myself "in their shoes." Never know what is going on in someone's life that may be causing their mood. Eat as well as your budget allows and while your at it wrap yourself a couple of gifts because you know what? You’re a beautiful being and deserve some extra lovin today! Happy holidays!

Now, I am alone for Christmas where we would normally have a big family dinner and be with each other. It has been difficult. But, I love your advice. It doesn't mean every Christmas will be alone. And this is a temporary moment. And I do have wonderful people who love me. One of my dear friends sent me a gift all the way from Boulder so that I'd have something to open this morning! Wow! How sweet was that! I do feel blessed. AND I'm making my manifestation list right now. You can't receive if you don't ask! Very very good point! :) You've inspired me.

I’ve spent many of years alone for all holidays. What I have learned is that it’s social expectations that people spend it with others. And for whatever reason you are alone for a holiday you don’t have to buy in to that social expectation. Since I realised this I stopped being sad on holiday and see it more as a gift to myself. See I don’t have to put up with family, I don’t have to have sensory overload, I don’t have to buy others gifts knowing I won’t get anything but knowing I’ll be judged if I don’t, and mostly i don’t have to anxious, scared or sad because of others actions. I can choose to be happy.

That's something I needed to hear today and something that I need to think more about. I work from home running my own bookkeeping business. While my job isn't as integrated into my life as it would be as a content creator, I still find myself thinking about my clients and work that I need to do when I'm supposed to be "off the clock."
