This is now my headcannon for how this fight actually plays out according to lore.

Having played the mod before I kinda wonder. What’s behind the decision of turning Godfrey shades in Phase 2 to Hoarah shades. Considering that I personally find it more fitting if Morgott still summons Godfrey shades but with the full axe intact since I don’t think Morgott ever saw the ‘Warrior’ within his father and he only saw the ‘First Elden Lord’ from him. Other than that, I guess the time for a rematch draws close
@Goodbutevilgenius9 ай бұрын
1. The primary reason is the gameplay value. Hoarah Louxs, with the ways that I used them, are significantly more challenging and thus interesting than the Godfreys I had, and they look quite cool (and also, the transition from G to HL certainly adds to the desperation of phase 2). As long as the modded behavior isn't total nonsense, IMO this reason is enough… you can buy Morgott summoning Hoarah Loux instead of Godfrey, same as summoning Godfrey in the first place, which is also not an ability he explicitly has in canon. 2. Again, since you're already downloading a mod, this doesn't have to be 100% inline with the setting's logic, but the implication here is that the Godfrey shades are completely in Morgott's control, while the Hoarah Loux shades are much more autonomous. The three Godfrey summons (charge, slide, stomp) are predictable and mostly just cover Morgott in vulnerable positions, giving him time to get back to attacking. In comparison, the Hoarah Louxs are actively dangerous on their own and, like the guy's previous incarnation in Sekiro's Owl, brutally cunning: the one that stomps can also kick, the one that charges can give the illusion of being too far to reach and then grab from behind, etc… like there is an intent behind it… Due to technical reasons, you can't even fight Godfrey with this mod on; so, for all we know, in the mod's universe, Godfrey is long dead and what you see in the second phase is his actual spirit manifesting to help his son. Why else would he roar when doing the sword rain explosion? Morgott doesn't need him to roar, he still doesn't even do it himself.
@thebluehood359 ай бұрын
@@GoodbutevilgeniusGodfrey being long dead seems to be an interesting explanation. Kinda makes me think of what if Godfrey’s and Morgott’s roles are reversed starting from the time after the Tarnished managed to best Godfrey in battle and Morgott suddenly returns to the Tarnished’s surprise, revealing that the Morgott that was fought before was another illusion and the real deal was in fact watching the fights between the Tarnished Warrior and his strongest illusion and later on against his father from the shadows

@@thebluehood35 watching as his father dies and doing nothing? kzbin.info/www/bejne/hHLPlZyeaZqMgLssi=Iif_GJFSm2RgGCbs&t=70s In an ideal ER of my imagination, we'd fight the weak imaginary Godfrey, First Elden Lord (same as in vanilla), then fight a magical Morgott now using his staff as a _catalyst_ for a moveset of golden incantations. And then a much more difficult Godfrey, Lord of Battlefield at the end of the game, who'd differentiate himself by fighting as one with the land and channeling the power of the very earth, wind and storm, instead of turning into a Street Fighter character in the 2nd phase. One can only dream.
@thebluehood359 ай бұрын
@@Goodbutevilgenius oh wait, I feel like Morgott would probably be late to the party instead of watching the battle between player Tarnished vs Hoarah Loux since I feel like Morgott is not the type to watch his father get killed. But anyway, Lord of the Battlefield Godfrey is gonna be a very interesting idea for a Godfrey Overhaul. I’ve been looking for any Godfrey overhauls in mods and I’d be very interested considering in all of vanilla he’s my favourite fight
@AzraelSoulHunter8 ай бұрын
@@Goodbutevilgenius Maybe the logic could be that Morgott's spirits at first are more in his control, but as Morgott gets more endangered and loses control he also loses control over his spirits of Godfrey who maybe are the memories he has of his father. At first when he tries to be dignified as a King he remembers his father as a dignified lord who Morgott wanted to see again and when he loses control his earlier memories resurface from his childhood when maybe he was also less in control of himself when Godfrey was more like Horoux Loux and was a father that always protected him against all odds. And because of him losing control they gain some will of their own... And their will is that of a father protecting his child at all cost. And then we see Godfrey again later and we see what Morgott remembered and when he becomes Horoux Loux he unleashes the fatherly fury and rage we saw glimpses of in that fight. Basically a love between father and son that transcends time.

This is not the Morgott we wanted, this is the Morgott we DESERVED. No delayed attack, no waiting. But the only problem with him is that this fight is before Godfrey, because he uses a lot of Godfrey and Hoarah Loux's moves. And these factors take away from the excitement we get from the Godfrey fight, because we get to see all of his moves in this fight. While these factors are good for the Morgott fight, they have a negative effect on the Godfrey fight.
@GoodbutevilgeniusАй бұрын
Well, yeah, If you think about it with the context of the following vanilla bosses, this fight would have to forgo the utilisation of Godfrey phantoms, so as not to devalue the actual upcoming fight. More than that, it'd have to be less complex and difficult than it is here in general, otherwise Mohg, Radagon, Malenia (the optional big boss) and Godfrey himself would all be easier than a preceeding boss. Good thing is, you're installing mods after completing the vanilla game at least once and already going through all of the bosses listed above (hopefully…). This means you're going from vanilla Godfrey to Morgott's quickthrow Godfrey, not the other way around. Just think of this fight as something from an alternate universe where after "Morgott the Grace-Given" bosses keep scaling in complexity and difficulty, and the physical Godfrey fight is just completely different from the phantom Godfrey.

Finally someone repping my man Morgott in the best way lol If it's not too much to ask, think you can post this Morgott vs the other bosses? Anyways fantastic work and happy new year!
@Goodbutevilgenius10 ай бұрын
Nah... Setting up boss-vs-boss fights where both bosses work properly takes time, and in return you still just get a dumb slugfest. It's not like this Morgott, for example, will be able to effectively jump back from an attack of Radahn's and then counter, or have a Hoarah Loux grab Malenia, or force Maliketh into risky dodges with the sword rain. Or even really do different followups depending on the situation, since those also rely on the opponent moving around to dodge and not just standing right in front, punching, maaaybe occasionally doing a single backstep. If you wanna actually see a custom boss do cool things, the best option is just fighting it yourself :) And happy new year!

This looks like a real final boss. Also considering morgott has been chasing us from the start of the game as Margit and with projections. I would prefer him as final boss instead of radagon and elden beast (they were like random enemies that appeared at the end of the game)

He became the most difficult boss for me. Compared to him, Consort Radan and Malenia are easy. This boss is great. He has everything that would please a seasoned fan of the Souls series, but casuals can't handle him. So that you understand, I killed Consort Radan without OP builds in 3 hours, Malenia in 2.5 Issin in 1 hour, Godfrey and Maliquet were killed on the first try, and I killed him in total for 25 hours......

@@Goodbutevilgenius I really liked the mod. I was looking for a mod that changes Godfrey for a long time but I didn't find it. Do you plan to make more mods? I would really like to see a new Godfrey or Messmer
@Goodbutevilgenius2 ай бұрын
@@255b6 I've been working on a very extensive and unusual Malenia rework, but I currently don't have the time/energy to keep developing it. I'm working on a minimalistic Messmer mod - just something to bring him in line with the harder DLC bosses and make the fight more dynamic. Nothing as impressive as even the reimagined attacks and summons seen in this Morgott. Just the most basic things from here - better AI, more combos, dodging, faster recovery, stronger tracking and hitboxes, a few specific minor changes. I would never even consider a Godfrey rework. No idea what could even be done with him without making the fight look bad.

His boss theme was remixed here, right?
@Goodbutevilgenius7 ай бұрын
No, the only change from the norm is that the effects volume is at 5/10 for the theme to be audible. If you mean that the music doesn't sound like it does in the OST, the in-game version is not the one included in the soundtrack - that one is bass-boosted, so technically that's the remixed one.
