While your extremely well rounded mechanical abilities make for your content, your willingness to share your inner self is what really makes me and probably most others keep coming back to see you. It warms my soul in such a fake world full of embellishments and outright lies to see genuinity. I operate much like you do. Thank you for being with us, brother.

The cnc machine is dynamite. Beautiful in execution from someone who is a master class builder and technician. Highest kudos. About the v2 rocket. That rocket zoomed to 90 miles elevation and plunged down at the target at supersonic speed. The pulse jet was the v1. It flew at medium elevation just under 400 mph. It had a spark plug and a flapper door that opened and slammed shut when the spark plug sparked

Hey Wes. I have been wanting to get to see Daniels New CNC Lathe. After talking to him about it for a few months now. Good to finally see the Lathe Daniel has been talking about. He is very busy at the moment finally building his workshop. Which is very good to see, hopeful soon he can take delivery of his New CNC Lathe. Thanks for posting this video. It was great see Daniels latest purchase. Regards Peter.

Hey Wes, thanks for the links and mentions. I always look forward to your videos, I like your (just talking about it) style. Keep it up. We're very exicted here to get the Mori, thanks for taking the time to do such a great job on the cleanup and paint. We hope to get a bunch of videos of her making parts so you can check in on her anytime :) Daniel

Wes, I know the feeling. I just painted my early 90 model Okuma Cadet LNC-8. I had been procrastinating, but dove into it. The weather was a big delay on painting days and cure time. I used a two part epoxy paint from Sherwin Williams. I am putting the enclosure back together as we speak. You're absolutely right, its all in the prep work and it takes so long to do it correctly. But it pays off in the end. Your machine looks great! Keep up the good content. Ignore the complainers.

Lol. a heat gun in the desert we pour water over the knobs or wrap them in padding so we can touch them as it gets hot here. Change the snow color to almond or light brown and you have a sand storm and mini sand dune, so different love seeing the snow. Welcome to winter. Nice looking coolant tank hack, love the solid saw. CNC lathe paint vast improvements, even the labels wow. You must have sold the machine to D&J.

My Shop build is going on 5 years now so you aren't the only one with long projects or that jumps from thing to thing! lol That Mori looks great!! I kind of have it in my mind I want a Warner and Swasey or G&L Titan cnc lathe so if you see any let me know. From what I have seen they were some of the better built and more capable heavy iron American made CNC lathes.
@WatchWesWork6 жыл бұрын
There's a shop in town with a pair of Warner and Swasey CNC lathes. They have Fanuc 5T controls with the old school 3 line LED display and no CRT. They must be mid 1970s machines. He likes them. That control would make me nervous. I had a 6T on an old Mazak and it worked pretty much like a modern control. American and Jones and Lameson made extremely beefy CNC lathes. All of them would be long in the tooth now, but top of the line machines in their day.

I feel you on the Winter Wonderland. Last weekend we had half a tree down blocking the alley and lines laying in everyone's yard. I was outside with a propane torch swearing at the lock on my gate enshrined in ice. But... could always be way worse, so thankfully that is all that happened. That's a great warning label for the parts catcher.

OMG! that looks awesome! We have Mori's at my work and the owner is replacing them slowly with Haas machines. Mori's are nice cause we can put Howa chucks on the spindles which allows us to use forging jaws to make high pressure fittings on forgings. The Haas machines are not capable of using the howa chucks. :(( I wish you lived closer then you could come fix up some of our broken mori's we have sitting in the shop collecting dust. Mainly drives and servos have faults that are too much money too fix.
@treverkirk81106 жыл бұрын
Wes you should have the heat exchanger on the pulse pressure tested. They are known for developing cracks and they can’t be visually checked very easily. Also make sure the way you have the blower temporarily wired up, that the blower cannot be energized from more than one speed tap at a time. I couldn’t see on that diagram exactly what you changed but you might’ve bypassed the interlock that prevents the heat speed tap from ever being energized with the cooling speed tap. If they do the blower will fail in short order.
@WatchWesWork6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have read there is some risk of CO emissions from cracks in the housing. I should do that. Yes, the motor does run a different speed tap for the A/C, but the way I hacked it should not affect that circuit. I'll replace the relay ASAP.

Mori Seiki is an excellent machine with an almost inexhaustible resource for iron reliability! they will serve you for a very long time! In order to kill them completely, you will probably need to change several times all the power electronic components and the CNC system, and it is unlikely that you will be able to do this, it's nice to see how old machines are given new life ...
