DISCLAIMER: READ EVERYTHING I TYPED THEN TAKE IT AS A GRAIN OF SALT AND MAKE YOUR OWN OPINION IN THE END BASED ON YOUR OWN TRUTH AFTER YOU TAKE MY SUGGESTIONS. It is strenuous work that is a choice to go (especially a choice for women, and men are required to go but it is still their choice to go through with it or if any circumstance prevents them from being able to serve it isn't something that people should look down on but should try to understand. Some members are more focused on the letter of the law sometimes but so long as it's in the boundaries of the law of the Gospel it is alright--- the Lord knows your situation and will give you blessings regardless). Either way the money goes back to the members of the church through relief society/elder's quorum and young women's/ young men's, building churches to accommodation the rising member conversions, building temples so people have access to the Lord on a more Holier ground in keeping and making covenants and where people can have prayers answered too or minister and answer the prayers of others (revelation can be received in many ways like dreams, people, scripture study, attending the temple and more, there is no limit to how you receive it unless you put that limit). There is joy in the work to work for a mission and to serve a mission. I haven't served mine yet but the stories I heard are incredible and some had me heartbroken because of the choices some missionaries chose and they haven't worked on their conversion because of them paying more attention to the opinions of others than of God. Stay for the doctrine not for the people. On top of service preach His Gospel. Honestly without the Gospel of the Church I would be a very different person today and not the good kind. I would be on a high horse, bitter towards others, alone, and envious. Before you say "brainwashed" I'd suggest you read the works of the church first and meeting with missionaries before making an assumption or an opinion. At least we can trust The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in our 10% tithing to give aid to those who are less fortunate. I suggest to listen to This Thing Was Not Done in A Corner by President Gordon B. Hinckley to answer most of your questions and listening to Ward Radio (a podcast about our church to answer your questions and challenge them with information if you'd like) and before you say we are racists we are not. Here's the scripture to prove it: 2 Nephi 26:33 For none of these iniquities come of the Lord; for he doeth that which is good among the children of men; and he doeth nothing save it be plain unto the children of men; and he inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness; and he denieth none that come unto him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembered the heathen: and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile. The Two Greatest Commandments: Love God with all thy heart, might, mind, and strength. Love thy neighbor as ye love yourself. following those Two Great Commandments helps so much to follow the other 10 commandments of the Gospel and helps improve ourselves with each passing day. why church? line upon line meaning building truth upon truth. I wouldn't have stayed if the Gospel truth wasn't consist in my life and I mean it. Everything makes sense. Elder Holland's talk "Tomorrow the Lord Will do Wonders Among You" is a comforting talk if you'd like to listen to it. Joseph Smith is a true prophet and every action he took was asked of him by God and it was done for God.

Book of Abraham Facsimile 1: Common Scholarship, Egyptologist, BYU, and including the Gospels topic essays by the LDS Church. Found that Facsimile 1 is just an Egyptian funeral text and Joesph Smith just drew in areas where the papyrus was damaged. All Egyptologists agree that the restoration of Joesph Smith was wrong and inaccurate. Here are some of the numbers 1-12 of what Joesph Smith said they meant vs What they are. 1. Joesph Smith / 1. Egyptologists 1.) The Angel of the Lord. Note: this should have a human head, however, the papyrus was torn off here, so Joesph penciled in a bird's head. 1.) Isis: the sister-wife of Osiris. 2.) Abraham fastened on an altar. 2.) Osiris on an embalming table wrapped in clothes for mummification. 3. )The idolatrous priest of Elkenah attempting to offer up Abraham as a sacrifice. Note: the head of Anubis is a jackal, however, the papyrus was torn off here, so Joesph penciled in a human head. 3.) Anubis, the Egyptian funeral God. 4.) The altar for sacrifice by the idolatrous priests, standing before the gods of Elkenah, Libnah, Mahmackrah, Korash, and Pharaoh. 4.) An embalming table aka; the lions' couch. 5.) The idolatrous God of Elkenah. Note: there is no such Egyptian god Elkenah. 5.) These are canopic jars that contain the deceased organs, and are represented as the sons of the god Hor. This is one of Qebehseneuf, who receives the intestines. 6.) The idolatrous God of Linnah. Note: there is no God Libnah in Egyptian archeology. 6.) These are the canopic jars that contain deceased organs, and are represented by the sons of the God Hor. This one is Duamutfer, who receives the stomach. 7.) The idolatrous God of Mahmackrah. Note: there is no God Mahmackrah. 7.) These are canopic jars that contain the deceased organs, and are represented by the sons of God Hor. This one is Hapy who receives the lungs. 8.) This idolatrous God of Korash. Note: there is no Egyptian God Korash. 8.) These are the canopic jars that contain deceased organs and are represented by the sons of the God Hor. This one is Imsety, who receives the liver. 9.) The Idolatrous God of Pharaoh. Note; this word Pharaoh is an anachronism, as it was not used as a title until Thutmose the III (ca, 1479-1425 BC) long after Abraham's death in 1637 BC or 1801 BC) 9.) The Egyptian God Horus or Sobek, whose head is a crocodile. 10.) Abraham in Egypt. 10.) Funeral offerings covered with lotus flowers 11.) Designed to represent the pillars of heaven, as understood by the Egyptians. 11.) Serekh represents a gated facade of a palace, thus signifying that the ceremony took place behind the wall inside the palace. 12.) Raukeeyang, signifying expanse, or the firmament over our heads: but in this case, in relation to this subject, the Egyptians meant it to signify Shaumau, to be high, or the heavens, answering to the Hebrew word, Shaumahyeem. Note: Raukeeyang and Shaumau are not real Egyptian words. 12.) Water the crocodile swim in. This is just the first Facsimile, don't forget Joesph also did not know any "Reformed Egyptian" because no such language existed. The church knew this back then and today. At the time no one knew real ancient Egyptian yet because the Rosetta Stone had yet to be found. Look into it if you don't believe me on the LDS official sources called, the Gospel Topic Essays. Also, look into the Kinder Hook plates as well they were faked on purpose to see if Joesph would translate them to see if he did have the gifts he claimed. Spoiler alert: not knowing they were fake he did translate them. Causing more embarrassing problems for the LDS church later on. If you want truth go to the bible and if you want Lies go to the LDS official history. God Bless!

Oh look you copy-pasted a misleading anti-mormon article without caring to do further research or give context. Here's a question, if this is a funerary text, then how come the guy on the table is clearly still alive? When you place a guy on a table in order to cut him open and stuff his organs into jars, I think whether the guy is still alive or not is a pretty big distinction when deciding to label the ritual as funeral rather than a human sacrifice.
@Joshua_One_Nine5 ай бұрын
@KnuttyEntertainment I'm really confused by your statement...? If you could tell me where I copied and pasted anything, I wrote this out from research. Could you please explain that he's alive thing, it's an Egyptian funeral papyrus, and I just wrote what Joesph said and compared it to what Ancient Egyptian scholarship on the funeral papyrus and took what they say it means. I dont know. Maybe you have some secret knowledge they don't have or something?
@KnuttyEntertainment5 ай бұрын
@@Joshua_One_Nine In Egyptian artwork, when you see a figure standing with their legs apart, that signifies that they’re alive. Dead people are always drawn with their legs together. The guy on the table in facsimile 1 has his legs apart and is flailing his arms. He’s clearly alive. The Joseph Smith papyri included a bunch of different fragments. Some of those fragments included parts of the Egyptian Book of the Dead which is a funerary text. Facsimile 1 is NOT part of the book of the dead. It’s a separate text. When Egyptologists first looked at it they assumed it was part of the book of the dead because it was alongside those other fragments. Especially because it resembles other depictions of ritual embalming. However in all other depictions, the man on the table is a mummy. Facsimile 1 is an entirely different ritual, likely a human sacrifice. The man on the table is flailing around, there’s a guy leaning over him with a knife, and there are canopic jars beneath the altar to store his internal organs.

@KnuttyEntertainment I've never heard that before. I also think you seriously can't believe a known Con-man who actually was convicted of treasure seeking and was known for his tall tells wouldn't make up,"Reformed Egyptian."and who we know drew in Abraham in the facsimiles was someone that God would make a prophet. I think he lied, and unfortunately, many fell for it. You should come to the real Christ and repent of Mormonism.

Correcting Errors A selection of changes to correct errors in the Book of Mormon. • Christ named too soon In the Book of Mormon narrative, the name of Christ is not revealed until 2 Nephi 10:3. Wherefore, as I said unto you, it must needs be expedient that Christ-for in the last night the angel spake unto me that this should be his name. - 2 Nephi 10:3 This necessitated that "Jesus Christ" be replaced with "the Messiah" in 1 Nephi 12:18. 1830 original edition1837 and subsequent editions1 Nephi 12:18Yea, even the word of the justice of the Eternal God, and Jesus Christ who is the Lamb of God.Yea, even the word of the justice of the Eternal God, and Jesus Christ the Messiah who is the Lamb of God. • King Benjamin still alive after being dead In the Book of Mormon narrative, Mosiah 6:5 records king Benjamin's death.
@AnonymousMissionary2 ай бұрын
They knew who Christ was before he appeared to them, they had prophets prophesying about Him. It did not replace it, it literally says "Jesus Christ the Messiah." Both names are in there Not sure what you mean when referring to Mosiah 6:5
@Joshua_One_Nine2 ай бұрын
@AnonymousMissionary I hope this clarifies your questions. 1. It is true that prophets in the Book of Mormon did prophesy about Christ long before His birth. For example, Nephi and others spoke of the coming of a Savior who would redeem mankind. However, the specific name “Jesus Christ” is not revealed until 2 Nephi 10:3 when Jacob records that an angel revealed this name to him. The change you mentioned in 1 Nephi 12:18 from "Jesus Christ" to "the Messiah" in the original and subsequent editions of the Book of Mormon could be understood as an editorial clarification. The reason for the change may have been to maintain narrative consistency, ensuring that the full name “Jesus Christ” was not used before it was revealed in the text. The prophets knew the concept of the Messiah, but the specific name was revealed later. 2. You’re correct that the current editions of the Book of Mormon include both “Jesus Christ” and “the Messiah” in 1 Nephi 12:18. This change occurred in the 1837 edition, likely to align with the broader doctrinal understanding that "Jesus Christ" and "the Messiah" refer to the same person. The original 1830 edition did not have this clarification, which may have led to some confusion. The inclusion of both titles in later editions serves to clarify that "Jesus Christ" is the specific name, and "the Messiah" is His title. 3. In Mosiah 6:5, it is recorded that King Benjamin died after anointing his son, Mosiah, as the new king. The point about King Benjamin “still being alive after being dead” likely refers to any later mention of King Benjamin in the text. These later references do not imply that King Benjamin was physically alive after Mosiah 6:5, but rather that his teachings and influence continued to be significant in the narrative. Any subsequent mentions of him reflect the enduring impact of his leadership and teachings, not a literal continuation of his life.
@Joshua_One_Nine2 ай бұрын
@@AnonymousMissionary The original 1830 edition does not. The original 1830 edition of the Book of Mormon has undergone numerous changes over the years. While the core message and narrative have remained consistent, there have been an estimated over 4,000 changes made to the text. These changes range from minor corrections in grammar, spelling, and punctuation to more substantive alterations that affect the wording of certain passages.
@Joshua_One_Nine2 ай бұрын
@AnonymousMissionary There is a significant issue regarding the changes made to the Book of Mormon over time. The original 1830 edition, which was claimed to be directly translated by Joseph Smith through divine means, should logically have no errors if it was indeed an accurate translation from God. However, the reality is that numerous changes have been made not just grammatical corrections but also substantial revisions to verses and doctrinal content. These alterations raise questions about the authenticity and accuracy of the original translation.For the specific examples of changes between the 1830 and 1981 editions of the Book of Mormon, here are some well-known instances: 1. 1 Nephi 11:18 1830 Edition: "And he said unto me, Behold, the virgin which thou seest, is the mother of God, after the manner of the flesh." 1981 Edition: "And he said unto me: Behold, the virgin whom thou seest is the mother of the Son of God, after the manner of the flesh." 2. 1 Nephi 11:21 1830 Edition: "And the angel said unto me, Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father!" 1981 Edition: "And the angel said unto me: Behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Son of the Eternal Father!" 3. 1 Nephi 11:32 1830 Edition: "And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was taken by the people; yea, the Everlasting God, was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record." 1981 Edition: "And I looked and beheld the Lamb of God, that he was taken by the people; yea, the Son of the everlasting God was judged of the world; and I saw and bear record." 4. Mosiah 21:28 1830 Edition: "And now Limhi was again filled with joy on learning from the mouth of Ammon that king Benjamin had a gift from God, whereby he could interpret such engravings; yea, and Ammon also did rejoice." 1981 Edition: "And now Limhi was again filled with joy on learning from the mouth of Ammon that king Mosiah had a gift from God, whereby he could interpret such engravings; yea, and Ammon also did rejoice."
