I was a convert in 1982, and everything in that movie was taught. It was still taught when my oldest daughter was in seminary in the 2000's. Guys, it's all true. This stuff is really what the church teaches and believes. Thank you for having Ed Decker on. You're an integral part of my exmo journey and I am grateful.

Catholic here. I heard Mr. Decker speak at a Baptist church here in Spokane in 1992. The only reason I even knew about him was a hilarious mix-up of mail sent to my husband's ex wife, which I ended up with by accident. Just a little flyer announcing his speech, which I went to. Learned a lot from that man, still doing so today. Rest in peace, dear man.

I was taught all of this!!! I think that those that are younger have not had to deal with some of these teachings. The church is for sure trying to change this narrative.

I was born and raised in the Mormon church and everything that they said is what I was taught! I’m 71 now and just learning how false the teaching are! I’m so glad I had the foresight not to raise my children in the Mormon church!

I have been born and raised in Utah. I was baptized in the church but not an active member most my life. We had moments we went to church but it never lasted. However about 2 years ago I became interested in becoming active again so my son could have knowledge of God and Jesus. Well missionaries came to teach and when my question were things they couldn't answer they brought over a gentleman that was high in the church and this video clip was exactly what they taught me.

I was mormon for a few years in the 80s and was taught everything seen in the GodMakers video. The movie showing a protest minister, with Satan whispering in his ear, counseling a young couple investigating his church was the final straw for me.

Excellent interview John. I can't tell you the number of times, as I was interacting with LDS on Mormon Coffee, that they would say, "We don't believe that." If they would admit to it I'd get the "It doesn't count" argument. All of the embarrassing stuff was counted merely as "opinion" of the prophet. It didn't take long for the LDS to do a "drive by shooter" comment and disappear because they couldn't handle the discussion.

I grew up in the 60’s/70’s went on a mission in the 80’s and never knew: Elohim came down as Adam and that Christ had any wives, much less multiple. Everything else? Yes! Absolutely!! Thank you both!!
@carlhawks29153 жыл бұрын
Elohim coming down as Adam is Brigham Young's Adam-God theory. He taught it as scripture while he was alive and in complete control of the church, but the church tossed it and a lot of Brigham's other embarrassing doctrines(all of which he declared as a prophet) after he died. Their problem is if he was wrong about all of these teachings, he clearly was no prophet, but they have to have him as a prophet for their line of succession. Therefore they flat out lie and claim he never taught those things or was just speculating, both of which are complete nonsense. They always count on their members being clueless morons who simply "trust" the lies from the church instead of searching out the actual truth for themselves.

Very interesting interview that I found a bit perplexing. John you seemed to acknowledge the impact of Mr. Decker's work, but there were times you seemed to take an accusatory tone at times a bit condescending. That said, this might be one of your best interviews. Thanks so much for all your work John!

Ed Decker was doing his research back in the day when the church's accusations of moral impropriety were still working. For decades the church's default position was to question the moral integrity of anyone who questioned the history of the church. The accusations worked because the failthful reasoned that anyone who questioned the authority of the church must be in league with Satan. If critics are in league with Satan; then critics must have a whole closet full of misdeeds. It is interesting that the accusations tossed at Decker stuck in so many minds for so long.

I was raised w/ nothing but black folks, socialized w/ the culture and I'm Mexican. I was a big fan of Donny Osmond n my dad was an abusive alcoholic. So in my 9 yr. Old brain, I thought, ok I'll convert to mormonism and ill grow up n marry Donny and at the same time, I'll get my whole fam. To convert n we'll celebrate Fam. Home evening.🤦🏽♀️ This would make my dad stop drinking n therefore, no more abuse😂. After 10 months of studying n really becoming engulfed in my LDS life. I suddenly find out how the LDS view blacks! I was being told that they couldn't hold the priesthood n that they followed Lucifer When he was kicked out of the kingdom😱 So I promptly left the church They were telling me that everyone I knew n loved, would never get into haven! So, I n studied EVERYTHING Ed Decker has ever published. Along many other great people who helped me to realize I had joined a cult. This began a lifelong passion to find GOD. I studied all the major religions and all the cults. I'm proud to say I'm a born-again Christisn non-denominational evangelical believer and I have had a wonderful relationship w/ Jesus since 1992. God bless all who read my humble post. God bless u Ed Decker n thank u, may the Lord bless u n ur family.💜💜💜💜💜

I'm so grateful for the God Makers. I didn't see it until just recently, but just knowing the church changed the temple ceremony before I got there because of that video, I didn't have to experience that trauma. The washing and annointings was bad enough, I didn't need to do the blood oaths too.

Even if Mormonism is changing some things, it is still based on a lie and is a different gospel!

In Graham’s hierarchy of disagreement, ad hominem attacks rank only just above name-calling as a way to argue against someone’s statements. This playground mentality seems to persist well into adulthood. “If one extols reason, then what matters is the integrity of the thoughts, not the personality of the thinker.” Steven Pinker

My future mother-in-law took me to a presentation on Mormonism at a local church in San Jose by Dick Bear in about 1984. During the Q&A, I was jeered by the Christians - I think I agreed that I believe in multiple gods. My mother-in-law was disgusted at the Ir behavior and it only entrenched my beliefs. I finally watched the God Makers in 2017 as a non-believer. My review: basically accurate (per my knowledge), yet dated.

Second his response to "Jodie". I see that my comments on how that unspeakable "character" fits as he accounts it. Even you are not ready for that one, Dr. ? So unlike you. But, maybe you will "get it" later on 🐦 This man is just too intelligent - still - for those he hoped to help. And deserves a purple heart for GUTS OF STEEL and a heart of gold.

It was that teaching that actually brought me to Mormon stories because this did not sit well with me. I have a testimony but my testimony was definitely contradictory to the teaching.

I wasn’t taught that Christ had multiple wives but it was speculated.. Joseph Smith was referred to as the man SAVE Jesus Christ not over Jesus Christ.. want to know where that was taught.. But I also wasn’t active in the church until mid eighties..

I would love to know where I can find the tracking about Jesus being married. I always suspected Mary Magdalene but never thought about the other Mary and Martha. Makes sense though given the dressed his body after death. I want to read the source. To show my TBM mom and brother.

What you said about Ed Decker actually keeping people in the church longer was 100% the case with me. It wasn't until I read some legit, credible stuff about the church that I realized it was all BS.

I wish you would have let him back up the statement that Joseph Smith had done more for the salvation of mankind, even Jesus. The quote from the D&C says "except for Jesus," so this was an example of the most clear falsehood. He insists that he has reasons for his statement, and I would have liked to have heard them.
