Mormons are legendary for their "newspeak" . as a jr high kid I was told not to tell people what church I attended, but to invite kids to church. That people would prejudge us without getting to know us...they were right. In high school i went to seminary classes before school, they had us study the KJV in my sophomore year. I kept reading it and by my senior year had many difficult questions and deep misgivings about what they were saying to outsiders vs. what they were teaching me, as i was preparing for missions, we had been to the temple and participated in baptism for the dead, and that KJV kept coming up, you know, John 3:16&17...Eph 2: 8-10...stuff like that...so I started asking questions. The questions were not welcome. And after a period of time, I wasn't either. Fast forward 2 years I join the Marines...on Sunday if you go to church you can escape the watchful eye of the drill instructors for 2 hrs! So I went to the LDS service...within 2 weeks of filling out the visitors card, tha minister in charge met me at the door and explained where all the other denominations met...I was blackballed! Not that I'm hurt, just a fun example of LDS love....the holy spirit got ahold of me a few years later, and I'm saved now. Pray for your LDS frieds, the indoctrination theye been through is powerful...they're convinced if they lose their membership they're eternally cursed...it's sad really, no assurance of salvation. @@dukeball4ever1 I would say the problem is the church. The church wants you to worship a god that was once a man, wants you to make fun of Jesus Christ and say that he is the brother of Lucifer and wants you to believe another gospel. The Bible calls this idolatry, blasphemy and believing another gospel damns you to eternal torment in hell. Gal. 1:8 I had four LDS missionaries in my home and they wanted me to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it and God would automatically tell me it is true. I showed them from the word of God that I do not pray to their heavenly father who was once a man, so I would not get the answer that they would get. I worship the Creator. The true and living God the Father, who loves you and created you, was never once a man. Job 9:32 “In truth I know that this is so; But how can a man be in the right before God? “For He is not a man as I am that I may answer Him, That we may go to court together. I Tim. 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. The true and living God was never once a man. He exists by His own power. He is self-existent. He lives outside of the time, space and matter because He created time, space and matter. He has no mother or father, does not need air, food, water, sex, sleep, shelter, clothing, etc.. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, immutable, infinitely holy, eternal and so much more. The highest heavens cannot contain Him. He created Adam out of the dust of the ground. No wife needed. No pre existence. Why don't you worship your Creator? Jesus Christ never said you had to believe the Book of Mormon was true to get into heaven. Jesus Christ never said you had to believe Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God to get into heaven. Jesus Christ never said there was salvation only in the LDS church.

I left the Mormon church almost two years ago and am now attending a non-denominational Christian church. Having said that, I think it's important to remember that just because a Mormon said something at some point, does not mean that it is what all Mormons believe today. Many of the things that were shared in this video are simply not at all what I was taught in my 42 years of weekly attendance at the Mormon church. I realize there are probably references for all of the "facts" that were shared here, but that does not mean this is what all Mormons believe today. Mormons throughout its young history have said all kinds of things that are not considered to be the doctrine of the church today. I also know many Mormons who hold personal beliefs that do not necessarily reflect what is always said at the pulpit. This makes the whole conversation endlessly complicated. It is my hope that we can all offer one another the same grace that we EACH so desperately need in this life.
@itsmejessie5 жыл бұрын
I understand fully what you're saying. Yes, I can back up every claim made in the video and I do admit that yes, some of the things are not taught today (but were at some point by a "prophet!") so I can't just dismiss the past stuff and pretend it wasn't taught. Most things stated are current beliefs, though, and are not disclosed unless you search it out and learn it for yourself. So many secrets. So much kept hidden. Even people who join the church usually have NO IDEA what is done in the temples or that the goal is to become a god one day. Most people are unfamiliar with Joseph and Brigham and other's polygamy and contradicting teachings about who God is.... etc!! And this info needs to be made known. I also hear you when you say to extend grace to one another but I simply cannot extend grace to people who are living in ignorance (many willingly) while they are serving an absolutely false god/gods. I need to proclaim the truth! As a Bible-believing Christian who loves Jesus and wants the world to come to know Him as their personal Savior, I have to expose false beliefs and proclaim the truth of the Word of God and I want to share the one and only true God and make Him known.

To be honest, I wasn't looking for a video such as this but the title caught my attention. Reading a lot of these comments, I have to say I agree with you. I had been a Mormon for over 30 yrs & I wasn't taught a lot of the things in this video & I have never heard of families not being able to be with their family members if they were excommunicated from the church. But hey, it seems a lot of church leaders in a lot of different denominations have never even read the Bible. So, the way I look at it is, if you want to be close to God, read the Bible, gain a close relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus and don't sweat the small stuff. We can cant self righteousness till the cows come home and point the finger at any Church and go on a fault finding campaign but that will not make us better people. Just saying... probably good to ask questions and choose your lifestyle with care and thoughtfulness.

i don't want to detract from jessie's comment, but i do have a question for any mormon. how do you know what the true teachings of present day mormonism is? if you can't get it from reading the standard works, or elders quorum lesson manual, or sunday school manual, or the official online mormon website? how do you know for yourself what the true mormon doctrine is, and h ow do you know that jessie is not repeating official modern mormon doctrine? if there is no written documentation for what you believe, aren't you then in danger of leading yourself and others astray with false teachings?
@olgamiller2165 жыл бұрын
@@longnamenocansayy My take is, if you can't find the info by reading the official works, manuals & etc. then you have to consider the frame of reference. Then too, look at all the changes in the Catholic church. People don't question the changes so it shouldn't be surprising that the Mormon church makes changes. I believe there is such a thing as spiritual growth so maybe... It's why we need to keep studying the Bible. God opens our eyes when we're ready and able to understand.

Julia Dawn Olson Just to throw my two cents in; I come from a very heavily influenced Mormon home and my mother believes every single point made in this video. The bottomline here, in my opinion, is not whether all Mormons believe the LDS church doctrine or have even heard of most of these things. It’s that this church was not founded on biblical principals and biblical account of Christ Jesus. Which makes it a false Christ (Matthew 24:24) and because they think works and baptism and repentance saves they will be cast out (Matthew 7:21-23) Ignorance is not the same as innocence and we should be mindful of what people who speak “Christianese” say. That’s my take

People sadly get drawn in by the awesome fellowship that they experience and it is no wonder that “feelings” are so strong to join. But start asking the wrong questions and not accepting the bogus answers and see how long that fellowship lasts. I rented a basement from a Mormon lady for a while. I went to the ward or stake or something a couple of times. A couple of missionaries came out and talked to me and you are right. it seems like we hit it off so well. They wanted to baptize me right away. Oh my goodness. But I got busy and started researching everything on the Internet. When I came across the part where they think that God the father is a human being, that was it for me. I went to her and said”You believe that God is a man? So who created God?” She said to God was created by another God who was in turn created by another God before him, etc., ad infinitum. I told her, “when you find the first God who was not created by any other god, That’s the God I’ll be worshiping!” I mean I guess I’m supposed to be merciful and compassionate, but really what I want to say is “how dumb can you be?”

My Mormon Mission... God forgive me. So I was raised LDS, my father served an LDS mission. Growing up in a small Utah town all of my friends went on missions, but I didn't want to because I felt in my heart that the LDS church was not true. I never believed in Joseph Smith or the BOM. So I went to college, also in Utah. There I met other friends who were confused as to why I wasn't on a mission at the age of 19. I was under so much pressure from my family and friends to go. I was told that I would never get married and that I promised to save people before I was born, but that I would be letting them down if I didn't go. So I caved in and went. I never read the BOM until I was in the MTC. I still felt that the church was not true and that the BOM was invented. On the mission I followed all the rules to the exact detail (it's my personality). But every time I taught about good ol' Joe and his book I felt horrible and never believed it. I feel like the mission was an incredibly aggressive sales pitch for Mormonism. I was required to keep statistical data that was reported to the HQ every week. It's honestly like trying to sell a used car with no tires. But I grinned and bore the two year event and "returned with honor." Now I feel really bad because I drove people away from the true Christ (if he actually exists). So God please forgive me.

Hi Jessie, you are very informative. I grew up in a Reorgaized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints family home. ( Not Mormon but shared some main beliefs. ) I Believed our church was the only way to salvation and that every one else is going to hell and that the Catholic church was the church of the devil. I was a non active member for years because I kept silent. To make a long story short, at the age of 40 I came out of my bubble when I started asking questions and was not happy with the answers I received. I explored other Faiths. It says in the Bible that God wants us to question everything because in doing so we will find the truth. Wow has my journey of faith changed since coming out of the bubble. I have so many stories of how God has blessed me and those I love. All I need is my Bible. God's salivation is for everyone, not just a chosen few. There is good and bad in all religion........but I also believe more than anything what my Grandfather told me. He said salvation is not how many times you go to church......or what church you go to......it's how you live your life, how you treat your next door neighbor, our actions and the kind of person you are in your heart. God loves everyone. There is good and bad in everyone. I would also like to point out that in the Bible it says why satan was kicked out of heaven and who he is/was. The Bible are the only words I need. I pray you will be blessed in your search for the truth. You are definitely on the right track. Thanks for listening or reading my post. Peace Out.

My answer should not sound harsh to you as it is difficult to show how I really mean it by writing. I mean it with love. Sorry you´re wrong! You think your way is the same as for example the Christian way. But the way with Jesus Christ is unique. He is the way, the truth, the life and no one cometh to the father but through him. It´s about our sin before God. That made the gap between God and men. (the spiritual and also bodily dead).True repentence is what God wants and always wanted from us. He loves us but will judge correctly. As everybody is somehow guilty he would have to judge all of us. The wages of sin is death. This is also what you might have heared about heaven and hell. I know that in some famos east religions they talk rather of reincarnation and drop hell. But hell is real. So God in his love for us send his only begotten son that he would pay our wages. He suffered and died instead of us. When you truly repend and accept Jesus Christ as your savior and give your live to him in a serious prayer, you will be free of sin (wages of..) immediately and will receive his holy spirit which also means that you will be bornagain. A bornagain Christian. You would notice the difference. Please then (go on ) praying to Got in Jesus Name or to Jesus Christ and read the bible. It´s not about being rich and always of promised good health. It´s not about energies. It´s not about wishes to be fulfilled. Its not about meditating and hearing inner voices (I had my experiences... with "Angels", "Jesus" and others) Find out. It´s really serious. Please find out. There are also many false preachers. It´s not about (trying) to be good. It´s about accepting his salvation. But , as I am not native english speaking I don´t know many, but you may listen to Paul Washer, John Lennox, ...and of course going on reading the bible. Please excuse me if I misunderstood something. May God bless you.

@Distin Hirschi Jesus said “Except a man is born of water and of the spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” Jesus himself got baptized and he received the Holy Ghost. His Apostles baptized believers and conferred the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. How about those who died without the gospel. Jesus’ words are clear: They cannot enter into the kingdom of God. How can they receive the gospel if they’re dead? 1 Peter 4:6 says, “For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.” But how can they be baptized? Paul says in 1 Corinthians 15:29, “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?” Baptism for the dead in the Church is by revelation a vicarious ordinance of the gospel which is performed in the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are now 168 such temples in operation, and more will continue to be constructed till the second coming of Jesus Christ.

birdlynn hubbard I should add that having grown up Catholic I have seen this story play out before. I believe that Christianity is an overall good for the world, churches and religious organizations that use their power & influence to undermine the constitution, hide their undesirable history & protect pedophiles should not be counted as truly Christian. Even though many of its members probably are Christian in their hearts & practices, being naive or turning a blind eye to corruption isn’t the Christian thing to do. When I learned about the church’s history it was only the icing on top of the cake. It’s what’s happening now that caused me to walk away from the LDS church, and I will fight against any organization that protects those who harm children.

It also can take away your loneliness wherefore people are reminded they are loved by God and community. That is a pretty important in my book. ;) It is so easy for people to criticize churches, or anything these days, but what do they NOT criticize anymore? I'd rather be in church or Mosque hearing the spirit of God and truth which enlightens me and heals me while walking through this world. If and whenever a church I hear criticize another, it is a turn off to me. Immediately. I find that offensive, therefore I go to where it is right for me. It can only be that way. Sir, you need Jesus. Jesus said, "Follow Me." Jesus is the good Shepherd. Jesus will never let you down. John 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; 28 and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. Jesus is my substitute (i.e. Isaiah 53:4-6). He is way more than my example. A substitute does it for us. An example shows us how but we must still do it. He personally paid the penalty for all my sin. As a result, of His mercy I want to obey His commandments. Jesus as my righteousness, as our law-keeper (i.e. Romans 5:19, 1 Corinthians 1:3; Isaiah 61:10) The biblical truth is that Jesus kept the law for us I know for sure that I have been completely forgiven (i.e. Hebrews 10:14-17) and am accepted by God (i.e. 1 Peter 2:9). I know God is with me, providing and protecting me (i.e. Romans 8:31-39, Psalm 23). I know for sure that when I die I will live eternally with Heavenly Father (i.e. Philippians 1:23). I have no doubts because my acceptance by God depends entirely on Jesus’ work for me and he has already accomplished it (John 19:30). kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGHQlJ5_bb2Zopo

There is a promise from the LDS leaders that if the you can prove that the Book of Mormon is false then everything in the church would be so. It’s the keystone of the Mormon church. With all the evidence coming out proving the content, names in the book, land marks in the book etc to be accurate, how was it that a kid was able to make all this up with little to no information of the holy land during his times without the Internet / google maps? All a matter of opinion. Anyone can twist anything being good or not to their advantage and make it sound disgusting or evil. A lot of what she mentions was so bad about the LDS church comes from the Bible. So I guess in her opinion the Bible is evil too and teaches false things Here is information on the star that are on the LDS temples “Satanists were using the inverted star before it was officially copyrighted, but the symbol’s early association with Satanism still only trails back to the mid-1800s to a man named Eliphas Levi who didn’t refer to the symbol in his published works until 1854. Joseph Smith died in 1844. Inverted pentagrams on Mormon temples were around well before the symbol became popularly associated with evil.” thirdhour.org/blog/faith/lds-temples/inverted-stars-mormon-temples/ Here is informations of archeology of the Book of Mormon. kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6rNfIaXmsx_gMk A lot of people give up researching in this “on demand world we live in”, giving up the search too fast to the first opinion we hear being it a positive or a negative opinion instead of going above and beyond and finding out for themselves if it’s right for them or not. If you dig through negative material your outcome will be as such and the same can be said for the exact opposite, look for the good and you will find it but to have knowledge one must study both sides and determine which one outweighs the other. There is more good than bad in the LDS faith but of course that is my opinion. Trust me it was way worse back in the times of the Bible to be a disciple of Christ than it is today and if you weren’t a ordained priest there was no way you had any part in the ordinances in those times. Women had no say on really anything in those times many of whom were considered slaves. Abraham had many wifes, does this mean Abraham was in false standing with god? Polygamy in the Bible? I feel like people always attack the early LDS church for this even tho it has happened all throughout the Old Testament. Here is the info. Knowledge is power. Abraham had a principal wife, Sarah (Genesis 11:29), and two secondary wives, Hagar and Keturah (Genesis 16:3; 25:1). Abraham’s first wife was Sarah. She alone would possess legal rights and social standing as Abraham’s wife, and only her child Isaac would become the rightful heir to the family inheritance. Sarah, who was unable to bear children, gave her Egyptian servant, Hagar, to Abraham as a concubine, although the Bible also calls Hagar Abraham’s wife (Genesis 16:1-4). A concubine was a woman, often a servant or slave, who lived with a man as if she were his wife, having sexual relations with him and bearing his children. When one’s wife was unable to produce an heir, taking a concubine was a common solution in ancient times. But a concubine held “secondary wife status,” lower than that of the primary wife. The concubine’s position, while subordinate to her master and mistress, was permanent. Concubines were provided for and protected as part of the family. I hope this helps someone look into more sources than just anti material floating around KZbin

We believe in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon to be the word of god and if you do more research into the Bible there are a lot of things that is missing or taken out of the Bible, also through time edited to meet the needs of the Catholic Church. Not sure where you are getting your information. This has been proven and isn’t something new, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t contain true information. You can look it up and if you need some help finding this information I’ll be glad to assist, this is why so many different sects of religions have come about due to the lack of interpretation and parts of the Bible that have been missing and or mistranslated. If that wasn’t the case why aren’t we all catholic? Aren’t they the ones that had the Bible for hundred of years? Fun fact the word “bible” means many books and isn’t just one book so I love how people say that there can’t be another book even tho prior to the Bible there were records from different prophets and apostles or in other words several books. Just because Satanism copyrighted a symbol that was once a symbol for good ( the star is just part of the story) One of the men who worked on the Nauvoo temple described some of the exterior symbolism, saying that “The order of architecture was unlike anything in existence; it was purely original, being a representation of the Church, the Bride, the Lamb’s wife. John the Revelator, in the 12 chapter [and] first verse of [the book of Revelation,] says, ‘And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.’ This is portrayed in the beautifully cut stone of this grand temple,” according to Fair Mormon. This woman “clothed with the sun” is symbolic of Christ’s church, according to JST Revelation 12:1,7. Reflecting this, symbols of the moon on the Nauvoo temple appear below the sun symbols, which in turn appear below these inverted star symbols (which are on top, symbolic of the crown). The morning star In an 1880 edition of Deseret Evening News it says, speaking of the Logan, Utah, temple, “Carved upon the keystone is a magnificent star, called the Star of the Morning.” This inverted “morning star” is located on the East side of the temple (the sun rises in the East), but what does the morning star represent?

Show me evidence of the flood in Noah’s time that’s in the Bible? Also funny enough for people who are so hung up on symbol we all know from the Bible that Satan appeared to Adam and Eve as a snake 🐍 but it’s funny that in the time of Mose, Moses staff turned into a snake which symbolize Christ and Moses snake eat the other snakes and was held up to the people in those times and all who looked upon the staff/ snake and saw the symbol of the snake stood for Christ. Funny that there are many ancient cultures that have the symbols of the snake in parts of central and southern americas that symbolized Christ. Many will be lead away by the precepts of men. Don’t believe in the first information you get on the internet or by a someone’s opinion on KZbin go find multiple information in multiple places get information and do the research. People are to quick on believing on the first source of information they get. For example people stumbled on anti material about the church before getting to know the church or the people and then believe that the church must be evil because that’s why I just read and heard instead of reading the Bom all the way through finding out all the information, positive or not and making a educated opinion rather than a quick opinion without knowing all the facts. @@Xexy2388 there is absolutely evidence of an ancient worldwide food even according to secular scientists. No we don't have the plates the commandments were written on. We do have the dead sea scrolls, and a massive amount of ancient Hebrew and Greek manuscripts confirming the new testament. There is none of this for bom with the sort of exception of the book of breathing's. Still, the book of Mormon is more Christian, again, than Mormon theology. This was disturbingly incorrect. Most points were flat out false and others were totally out of context. I would pray that everyone be truth seekers and not take these claims to be truth. Feel free to reach out to me for any fact checking or clarification. I will actually provide sources and context. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true and offers so much light and truth.

Hi George, I don’t have much time to do a full rebuttal of all of the claims here, but I’m happy to try to shed some light. Do you mind if I connect with you via email? The overarching claim of this video is that the missionaries of the church will lie or omit parts of the gospel, in essence tricking people into joining the church. Its just not true. I was a missionary for two years and serve now as a ward missionary in my community. I’m well versed in the doctrine of the church, as well as the church history. The church is very transparent about its doctrine and its history. See the Joseph Smith Papers project josephsmithpapers.org, Saints history.lds.org/saints?lang=eng&cid=rdb_v_saints_eng, church history topics history.lds.org/, gospel topic essays www.lds.org/topics/essays?lang=eng, and churchofjesuschrist.org which houses all teachings from the church. The church and its members are good, honest people and I would never omit or lie to prospective members. The way she paints the church and its members is totally out of character. “Your church is wrong. Your beliefs are an abomination to God. Your pastor is a hireling of Satan. Salvation is found only in our church. There is no way to achieve any form of salvation outside of the church.” This is not true. Especially the part about the pastor. Just not true. The church believes in an apostasy and restoration. www.lds.org/topics/apostasy?lang=eng#_ www.mormon.org/site/jesus-christs-church/jesus-church-restored “They will not tell you that they are wearing temple garments”. Not true: www.lds.org/media-library/video/2014-01-1460-sacred-temple-clothing?lang=eng kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6fZf2enf7d1g5I Although this is a sacred and personal practice, so it usually isn’t spoken of lightly and frequently. “Temple garments are meant to protect against evil…YOU”. Nope, not you. Nothing like that is remotely taught. As you will see in the videos above, garments are an outward reflection of an inward commitment to God. “They will not tell you about their temple rites at all.” Not true. See videos for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJWbpYmOg56sbLM kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXKZkoefgqmMntE kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKumhKWDf82Km7M kzbin.info/www/bejne/roTMqKCPr7iMiq8 “Temple worship is taken from Freemasonry and Satanism cults.” Freemasonry was influential in the temple endowment. “Familiar spirits are good and Book of Mormon has a familiar spirit.” I’m not even sure where this comes from. Members of the church believe in the Holy Ghost. www.lds.org/topics/holy-ghost?lang=eng “Mormon women find salvation only through their husbands.” This is just not true. www.lds.org/topics/women-in-the-church?lang=eng “Mormon women will be pregnant through all of eternity so they can populate planets.” Not true and not based in much of anything. This is designed by critics based on the idea that God intends for us to become like him. Creating and populating planets is as good as a description of heaven for members of the church as sitting on a cloud playing a harp is for other Christians. Its just not true. “They intend to become Gods themselves one day.” “Heavenly Father over their own planet”. Heavenly Father over their own planet is not true. Intend to become Gods one day is spun in a half truth way. We believe that we are heirs to God, joint heirs with Christ as the Bible teaches. Here is a great article that would certainly help: www.lds.org/topics/becoming-like-god?lang=eng “Exaltation is done through works and obeying the church.” Not true. We obey Christ’s commandments because of our love for him. By believing in Jesus and repenting of sins, we are saved by grace. All are saved by Christ in that every person will be resurrected and all are saved from Adam’s transgression. From the Book of Mormon: 2 Nephi 10:24 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved. “They intend to have many wives in heaven, not just one.” No, I intend to have one. This claim comes from the polygamy practiced in the early church. You can read about that here: www.lds.org/topics/plural-marriage-in-the-church-of-jesus-christ-of-latter-day-saints?lang=eng “God is one of infinite Gods out there.” Paul said this in the New Testament, but also said “but for us there is one God.” That is our belief on this. The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is the one true God. “They are polytheists” Not the case. I highly recommend listening to this talk to get a better understanding. www.lds.org/general-conference/2007/10/the-only-true-god-and-jesus-christ-whom-he-hath-sent?lang=eng “They believe that God, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost are three completely different Gods” Half truth. The scriptures teach that they are one God, but separate beings. This should be logical to anyone who has read the Bible. See the talk above for this as well. “They will not tell you that you were once a spirit child of the pre-existence.” Of course we will! There is even a cool scroll graphic here: www.mormon.org/resources/plan-of-salvation “Heavenly Father and his multiple wives populated the spirit world.” This is again a half truth. We don’t believe God has multiple wives. We do believe that we are children of God as taught by Jesus and the prophets.

“Baptism for the dead.” “Three levels of heaven”. These are true. Here are some resources: Baptisms for the dead kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKumhKWDf82Km7M What happens after we die? kzbin.info/www/bejne/a17Jpqd_adyEldU “Virgin Mary was not a virgin at all. God came down and had sexual relations with her.” Not true. We believe as the scriptures say that she was a virgin. “They have taught that Jesus had three wives and children of his own. Jesus was a polygomist according to Mormons.” Not true. All we know of Jesus’ life on earth is recorded in the New Testament. “God is an exalted man and lives on a planet near the star Kolob”. Half truth. Joseph Smith believed God was an exalted man. Kolob is a metaphor in the scriptures for Christ. Kolob is described as the star being nearest to God and provides light to all of his creations. People spin it to sound weird and scare people away. “Jesus was Lucifer’s brother.” True. All spirits were children of God. “Heavenly council vote to determine Jesus or Lucifer as savior.” Not true. God presented his plan of salvation for his children. Lucifer and others rebelled against that plan and were cast out of heaven. “There are over 100 divisions within mormonism.” I don’t know about this. There are different break off groups, but there is only one Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and those groups are not affiliated. “They will not tell you that their scriptures contradict.” “Mormons will side with restoration scriptures over the Bible.” I don’t believe that the scriptures contradict, at least not in any significant way. The bible contradicts itself sometimes, but that is easily understood as it was written by different authors. It might be fair to say members of the church will side with the Book of Mormon over the Bible, but I think more accurately is that they will side with their interpretation of the Bible over someone else’s interpretation of the Bible. All Christians do this. “Not one scrap of archeological evidence for Book of Mormon.” Sort of. But what evidence would you expect? www.fairmormon.org/archive/publications/archaeological-evidence-and-the-book-of-mormon “State of Utah has higher than national average abuse, suicide, etc.” This appeals to emotion. Many scientific studies have concluded that this has nothing to do with the church, and actually church attendance significantly decreases all of these categories. “Joseph Smith was in the occult.” Just not true. “Joseph Smith money digging” True, but out of context. “Joseph Smith freemasonry” True, but out of context. I really enjoyed this book as a biography of Joseph Smith: www.amazon.com/dp/B000XUBEZM/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1 “First vision accounts.” True. But these aren’t any more contradicting than the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are contradicting. Different emphasis and details in each telling. www.lds.org/topics/first-vision-accounts?lang=eng

Please explain why so many mormons are leaving the church? It's a very large number
@richardstorm46032 жыл бұрын
As someone who was adopted by a Mormon family at the age of 9, I can positively tell you that I was taught most of the stuff that she is talking about during Sunday school and also during 'Sacrament" (same thing as listening to your pastor but it's different speakers for the Mormon church). I'm so glad that my mom got out of this church and that she didn't push me to get out, too. If she would have pushed me, I would have not listened to her. Instead, she let me come to her to ask her why she left. She told me and showed me how she was fooled into believing in a pagan religion after she was raised a Baptist. Before I was adopted at age 9, I believed in Jesus Christ, but I really didn't understand Christianity. So, it was easy for me to get sucked into that pagan religion of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (BIG contradiction in that name). I've been out since 1993 after I joined the military and got stationed in Germany. Oh, and here is a FACT. Joseph Smith WILL NEVER be a "God" to make planets to rule over. And neither will you or anyone else since there is only one Creator and since there will ALWAYS only be one Creator. Deal with it, there's NOTHING you or anyone else can do to change this fact.

@richardstorm4603 In 1974 I joined the Army and was stationed in Germany until I got out in March of 1979. It was there that I went to Germany as a Catholic and left as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One thing I learned was that the facts I thought were facts were not. I now know I have the correct facts. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's Church upon this earth. It was created for the humans who would be sent to this planet right before the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ to prepare the people of this world for the changes that will be made for the millennium. What is the major sign to mankind that the 2nd coming will happen soon? Here is a revelation from Joseph Smith to the world: “I have asked of the Lord concerning His coming; and while asking the Lord, He gave a sign and said, ‘In the days of Noah I set a bow in the heavens as a sign and token that in any year that the bow should be seen the Lord would not come; but there should be seed time and harvest during that year: but whenever you see the bow withdrawn, it shall be a token that there shall be famine, pestilence, and great distress among the nations, and that the coming of the Messiah is not far distant.’” The bow has been seen this year. And remember this... it does not have to rain to see the rainbow. You can often see it when spraying water on the lawn on a sunny day. I find it funny that you can state a FACT yet because it is a future event you are proclaiming yourself to be a prophet and declaring that what Joseph Smith will or won't be. The only FACT your presented was that you "believe" Joseph Smith will never be a God. And it is amazing to me that you say "planets" to rule over, when I would say "Galaxy" to rule over. Ever notice when looking at Galaxies from the Hubble Telescope... that you can not see the center of any of them because the center of all of them is lit with a light so bright? In the center of each Galaxy is where the Glory of the God of that place shines forth. That is what I believe. So you thinking that any one who becomes like our Father in Heaven only rules over a few planets is just silly.

I'm a former Mormon and I really appreciate what you are doing here! Lots of these things not even lifelong Mormons really know. It's insane. The only correction I'd make is that Mormons aren't polytheist but henotheists. Polytheists worship multiple gods while henotheists worship one god but believe in multiple gods.
@itsmejessie5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your comment! I'm so happy you are no longer Mormon. Are you a Christian now or mind if I ask what you believe? Regarding Polytheism: what about Heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Ghost being three separate gods? Would you say that Mormons don't worship them as separate gods? Did you only worship Heavenly Father as a LDS? What about Jesus?
@margaretphillips11375 жыл бұрын
It's Me Jessie I think this is where it gets tricky for actual Christians in understanding what Mormons believe around Christ. Because true Christians worship Christ but Mormons only really view him as their Messiah or Savior but not their God. The Heavenly Father of *this* Earth is their God and the only one they treat as such. Jesus and the Holy Ghost are instruments of God and aren't "deserving" of the same sort of treatment. Did I worship Jesus as a Mormon? Absolutely not. In fact, it was one of the big issues I started to have as I got older (I was raised Mormon). Mormons will point to "Jesus Christ" being in their name and they truly think that's sufficient. It's not. At all. They don't emphasis Jesus nearly as much as Christian churches do. They respect and revere their version of Christ but he is only a god to them no THE god. The funny thing is for them to push back on the idea that they are polytheist means they have to admit they don't worship Christ. And I know this will be unpopular but I went Catholic after leaving Mormonism. However, I am always so happy to see any former Mormon turn to Jesus and the Trinity. Catholics acknowledge the baptism of Protestants because Protestants are correct in their belief in God. As a former Mormon I had to be baptised into Catholicism because, well, I was never a Christian. I was never baptised in the name of our true Lord.
@margaretphillips11375 жыл бұрын
I want to clarify- like with most thing Mormons use familiar terms that mean something different to them. Many will likely tell you they worship Christ. My argument is that they don't. They don't pray to Christ, for example, only to God in Christ's name. The "worship" of Mormonism looks very different from the worship of those who believe in the Trinity.
@itsmejessie5 жыл бұрын
@@margaretphillips1137 Yes, I understand the concept of what you said and that was my understanding as well. I think you adding the point that Mormons saying that they're not Polytheistic means they have to deny worship of the Mormon Christ was a major point. My Mormon friends do not agree with what you told me (or should I say, don't *admit* what you told me) about Jesus. They all tell me that he is absolutely a God and equal with Heavenly Father and that they worship him. I never know when my Mormon friends are actually being completely honest with me. Sometimes I believe that they are being honest because maybe they just don't have all the answers and don't fully know how to answer. But then other times I feel like I'm being deceived. When talking about doctrine, I get the answers like, "Yes, we absolutely believe that. The same as you do!" But I know what they're saying is false and that they don't believe that at all. *sigh* It's exhausting. Anyways.. I appreciate your explanation and the time you took to write. And had I left Mormonism and converted to a Christian denomination, I absolutely believe in getting baptized again for real. 🙂 ..Baptized into a Bible-believing faith. And though I disagree with Roman Catholicism, I don't doubt that there are Catholics who are truly born again and who have fully accepted the true Gospel message of the Bible and Biblical Salvation. I do disagree with all works-based religions as well as the mediators placed between God and man, such as priests and the Pope and all. The Gospel message of the New Testament is so clear that Jesus is our mediator with the Father and that we can go directly to Him in prayer and in relationship. And Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us that it's not by our works that we're saved but through our faith in Jesus, by the grace of God and as a free gift from Him.. not of works lest any man should boast. But anyway.. just sharing my beliefs. Glad you commented! Couple of observations: 1. I think some of your points here are circular. Even if some aspects of Mormon liturgy and symbolism can be found in Freemasonry, that doesn't logically preclude them also being inspired or authentically ancient -- especially if you're open to the idea of God being an active participant in human affairs, the existence of supernatural abilities, or divine revelation. 2. You cite the Masonic interpretations and uses of various symbols, rituals, and such. Why are they the authority? I think you quoted Manly P. Hall at some point. Why is his view the correct one, rather than that of the Mormons? In general, you seem to ascribe a lot of factual credibility to occultists. 3. The Satanic Bible came out in the mid 20th century. I don't see how it has any bearing on the Mormon texts. 4. "Oh Lord, my God" could be the beginning of the Masonic phrase. It could also not be. It's hard to prove. 5. The Mormons, from what I understand, do not consider every word a prophet speaks to be prophetic or inspired. Brigham Young did speculate about there being people on the sun, but he did not say so as a prophetic pronouncement. Bringing up non-prophetic statements doesn't do much to discredit the prophetic ones. 6. Not everything that happens in Utah is because of Mormonism. It could be that the higher rates of domestic violence is connected to Mormonism, but you haven't really proved that it is. 7. The idea that upside-down pentagrams represent evil is pretty recent, postdating the founding of Mormonism. Before Eliphas Levi (19th century), people didn't typically ascribe different meanings to the pentagram depending on whether it pointed up or down.

why should we ascribe occult meanings to the symbols? what meaning does the mormon church ascribe to the occult symbols. are they perfectly transparent in all their doings? no. what does the mormon church say the square and compass is symbolic of? what does mormon church say about the handshakes? are they secretive? yes they are secretive. for me it is not so much the use of symbols. we all use symbols everyday. the letter E is a symbol. all the letters are symbols. it's not the use of symbols. it the secret associations with those symbols. the masons assign secret associations to those symbols. masonry is thinly veiled baal worship. mormonism is thinly veiled masrony. am i wrong? have i accused unjustly? open up the books to the light of day. let's hear what the mormon church says the correct use of masonic symbols is.

@@longnamenocansayy I disagree that Mormonism is "thinly veiled Masonry". Inspired by Masonry? Sure, but most of Mormon theology and cosmology is not lifted from the Masons. If it's veiled Masonry, there's more veil than Masonry. Additionally, neither Mormonism nor Masonry have stayed the same since then. I don't think it can be assumed that everything in Mormonism that has a parallel in Masonry must carry the same significance for Mormons as they do for Masons.

The Word of Wisdom is what convinced me to look further into Mormons. The Word of Wisdom stated various dietary things that at the time nobody would have known for sure. Modern science has proven that those dietary rules will very likely lead to better health. During the time that was written, doctors didn't typically wash their hands between patients or after touching the dead and saw no real reason to. The Bible basically says to test a prophet, look at their fruits. If they are genuinely divinely inspired, the words they say that are divinely inspired should be able to stand the test of time, and the Word of Wisdom does indeed seem to have stood the test of time. I admit, I have yet to read everything the LDS church has put out, but that tidbit caught my eye and seems like a divinely inspired piece of wisdom in a time when such wisdom just didn't exist as humans hadn't even figured out they should probably wash their hands due to invisible to the eye microbes. Of course, the Jews have a practice of washing their hands that dates back to forever that is divinely inspired. Of course, now they mostly see it as a ritual, but back when it was first decreed, it was likely in an attempt to help the then primitive and ignorant humans not die so much.

@@Carlie_flower Not even a year ago, I was pretty much in the atheist camp. Not quite though as I have never really given up on believing in a God due to my experiences. From my teenage years until somewhat recently, I pretty much shunned all religion. I had my reasons, but the main was that "the church just didn't feel right" (Baptist, Southern Baptist, Evangelical, etc, I went to many in my "research"). Somewhat recently, about a couple years ago, I felt moved to investigate the LDS church. I had always just lumped them in with other cults and crazies like most people do, but the deeper I dug, the more truths I found. Like with any religion, I don't agree with EVERYTHING they stand for, but so far, I have yet to find any "deal breakers". I don't consider myself a Mormon, but I have gotten back into reading my Bible and "letting God handle my worries" instead of trying to go it alone. I have so much more peace now and I'm actually making progress in life again. It's slow, but progress is progress. Just recently I found myself in a pretty serious financial situation due to an ex-roommate moving out and stiffing me on the final rent. I was nice and didn't demand a deposit from him when he moved in. When he left, he left owing about $400 and I later found out he took some of my stuff with him. I was facing having my electric shut off in a matter of weeks due to non-payment since I just didn't have the money. I broke down and asked God to "handle it" as I saw no way of making everything work out. Well, things worked out. Everything got paid on time, I didn't have to suffer in the process, and I had peace with the whole situation. Since then, I have asked God for help with my addictions to nicotine and caffeine. I have cut my nicotine use in half and cut my caffeine use by about 25% in only a few days. I might actually be able to quit the two in the near future, something that I thought was hopeless. All because I had a little faith in God and "let him handle it". Of course, I tell people that when you ask God for help, you have to listen too and act if you feel you should. Prayer alone doesn't typically work, you have to be receptive to answers on what to do to get yourself where you need to be and be willing to put in the work needed. My life has dramatically changed for the better since returning to God. I was foolish to turn my back on him.

As a new convert to the church, I would like to say that I was told many of the things that you identified in the first third of the video before my baptism by members of the church. Specifically having to do with the after life. These things are not a secret. There are a few things that you claim are doctrines that actually are not considered doctrine. The Bible, The Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and The Pearl of Great Price are the scriptural books of the church. Not Journal of Discourses. That means the Adam God theory and the theory that God the Father impregnated Mary through physical intercourse are false. I can understand that you might have a personal distaste for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but please be sure to fact check before you upload. Have a blessed day.

I fully sourced this video out with Latter Day Saint sources: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3ecnXyigJ6dbs0 And you are mistaken in your claim that the virgin birth denial is not official accepted teachings. It's been taught in tons of official church curriculum, has been said in First Presidency Statements, official teachings. For example, Ezra Taft Benson taught it very clearly in Come Unto Christ, pg. 4, "Five Marks of the Divinity of Jesus Christ", Ensign, Dec. 2001, 8. and also The Teachings of Ezra Taft Benson, pg. 7. Joseph Fielding Smith taught it in MANY official places including Doctrines of Salvation 1:18. Oh man, I have literal pages upon pages of sources for every single point. You should definitely find all of this out for yourself before claiming you have all the answers. Mormonism is an endless maze of hidden teachings and "accepted doctrine." Hope you search for yourself! The true God of the Bible loves you very much. I pray you seek and find Him!

I do not believe I ever once claimed to have all of the answers. We are all living and learning, no one individual will ever know everything that there is to know on this mortal plane: it just is not possible. Please do not put words in my mouth. I also do not appreciate your condescending tone. I between work and school, I dedicate all remaining time to the study of theology - of both church doctrine and of other faiths because I find theology as a field to be fascinating. I did not take lessons with the missionaries until I'd studied everything out and learned what was true and what wasn't for myself. My beliefs and religious practices in no way restrict you and your personal freedoms, so I do not understand why you are so concerned with tearing down other people's faith to make yourself feel better. No good comes from that. Faith is a personal choice and I support everyone's freedom to find out what they believe and to practice their faith however they see fit as long as their faith doesn't encroach upon the freedoms of anyone else.

The reason I have this channel and speak out against Mormonism is that my Bible teaches of a real and literal Hell and says that whoever is not saved, Biblically, by placing their faith and trust in the one and only true Jesus Christ for the Salvation of their souls, will be eternally tormented in the Lake of Fire where there will be weaping and gnashing of teeth. Mormonism contradicts the Bible completely and preaches a totally different gospel. Because I know this, I am concerned for the souls of the Latter Day Saint people. I have around 30 videos so far on my channel and they discuss the beliefs of the LDS and I give sources for every single point I make. I read from Mormon Scripture, direct quotes and teachings from prophets and apostles and lots from the official website, lds.org. As a Christian, all that matters is sharing the true Gospel and telling people how they can have a real relationship with God and have eternal security through Biblical Salvation. I refuse to "leave people alone" who I believe wholeheartedly are in a false belief system. I want Mormons to truly get saved and to know Christ. That's my mission. I want that for you too! Thank you for making this video. I grew up Mormon, and it's interesting to me how much I didn't even know about the Mormon church when I was there (which I think is because they were giving me the 'Christian' version of the Mormon church) and I think anyone saying you're lying or sound angry in this video (which you don't sound angry at all in my opinion) were probably fed the same watered down Mormonism I was also taught. A couple things to add that you didn't mention in this video are as follows: The Book of Mormon also says that Jesus would be born in Jerusalem in Alma 7:10 if I remember right. (Though the Book of Mormon is the most famous and plagiarized fanfiction on earth so that is part of why there are parts that sound very similar to the Bible) In Joseph Smith's translation of Exodus 33: 20, he disproves his entire religion by saying that no man has ever or will ever see the face of God and live. And this was the bible verse that made my dad leave the only religion he'd ever had in his life at that point. The verse is God talking to Moses in the burning bush and telling Moses that no man has ever seen the face of God and lived. I had never seen a crucifix (or cross that someone was wearing) until I was in middle school when one of my older friends in the Mormon church told me that we don't focus on the sad and horrible injustice that happened to Jesus, we only focus on the happiness after. I had actually watched The Passion of the Christ when it came out on DVD and it meant nothing to me, I didn't know who Jesus was, or what the movie meant at all, which looking back on all of it now just breaks my heart, especially now that I'm Catholic (which by the way, for anyone who wants to talk badly about the Catholic church, that's fine they have done horrible things no one's denying that (I actually found myself loving the Catholic Church even more because the second the Diocese I'm with received any reports of a Priest I know molesting young boys, they immediately took action, excommunicated him, and have asked if anyone has any more evidence to come forward - the Mormon Church, on the other hand, is still trying to say they've never done anything wrong) but remember the history while you cry about the books in the bible - you wouldn't have your bible at all without the Catholic Church who put it together first and then it was translated into other languages by Martin Luther (but he couldn't have translated it if there wasn't already an existing bible). The word Catholic, derived from the Greek, means "universal." meaning no matter where you are in the world, if you have a Roman Catholic Missile and are attending mass, you will know what the readings are no matter where you are in the world and can read the readings in your own language (sounds a lot like that verse talking about every nation, race, people, and tongue in Revelations). Godan B. Hinkley said in General Conference that the Jesus Christ of the Mormon church is not the same as the Jesus Christ who saves from every sin that the Christians believe in. When you said there are about a hundred different sects of Mormonism, my very first thought was "That seems like a low estimate." Again, I wanted to say thank you for this video and for spreading the truth of what the Mormon church believes, not the lies they want the world to believe about themselves. I hope you never let the haters stop you from spreading the truth, because at the end of the day, it is the truth, and the truth can't be changed no matter how much they want it to.

@janessaburlingham2489 The Book of Mormon does NOT say that Jesus would be born in Jerusalem. Did you actually go and read Alma 7:10? Here, let me share it with you: 10 And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God. So... tell me... when you look at a map of Jerusalem... where is Bethlehem? From the center of Jerusalem to the center of Bethlehem it is 5.5 miles If you were to look at the time period in the Book of Mormon that was being written about in Alma... you will see that it has been about 530 years earlier that Lehi had arrived in this new land. These people 530 years later never saw Jerusalem or Bethlehem. When they say AT Jerusalem... they were quite accurate never having seen a map of the Holy Land. But they were told where they came from. The Jesus of the Christian world is a triune God. That means that they say the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are ONE God made of the same substance. That is NOT true. They are three distinct and individual beings. So Gordon B. Hinkley was right. Their understanding of Jesus is behind the times. They are trying to rectify the God of the Old Testament with the God of the New Testament. Before Jesus came to earth... the ONLY God they knew was called Jehovah. Then Jesus is born, grows up and he is telling people he is Jehovah. So if he is the God of the Old Testament... who is this God that is his Father? This was a problem for the Christians. They did not have any explanation but they now had more than ONE God. So 325 years after the death of Jesus... 326 of the Bishops got together and voted on the creation of who Jesus was in relationship to the Father. 2 of the Bishops did not agree and they were excommunicated from the Church. And what did they agree on?? That there is only ONE God... and they are all made of the same substance. The Christian world states: There is but one only living and true God, who is infinite in being and perfection, a most pure spirit, invisible, without body, parts, or passions. We do NOT believe the same way the Christian world does. We know more than they do. We have been given more light and knowledge. And yet... like in the time of Christ... people rejected the further light and knowledge that Jesus gave to the Jews.

You already have the truth. Remember the blessings and the joys you felt when you were baptised. Remember that that joy comes from God. Before you doubt your faith, doubt your doubts, don't let people who fight against the truth lead you astray. I know without a shadow of doubt that the things which this person is saying isnt honesty. She just lacks the understanding and wisdom, and knowledge, and so she goes and makes KZbin clips to spread her misunderstanding so others can think just like her. Ask yourself this question, where would you go if you leave. She can't help you on that, she wants you to leave and doubt. God uplifts your faith He doesn't take it away. Study the Book of Mormon not the things this woman has said. I say that because the Book of Mormon builds your faith and draws you nearer to God. Satan has his tools aswell, if your study from his sources if will cause your faith to become weak, and eventually you will become like this woman. Who is only cause many souls to rebel and go against God. Which will cause much misery to their souls. God loves His children. And He wants them to return back to live with Him. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, He is the way the truth and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father except it be through Him. I Love our Father In Heaven and His only Begotten Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I sustain our Prophets, seers and revelatory. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. Clayton Knight My friend. I have studied the Book of Mormon and the first few chapters shocked me. Nephi is convinced by a demon to sever a sleeping man’s head, named Laban (who stole property but spared Nephi’s life!) This is evil. Shocking. And immoral and disagrees with the Old Testament. BoM gave me the chills. I trust my moral compass more than BoM cult fiction.

@@christiankaiser4471 Well, it wasn't a demon, those are your own words where in the Book of Mormon does it say he was a demon. Actually quite the opposite it says he was angel sent from God. And if you think that it is evil, than your saying God is evil. For is that the only thing you concentrated in, cutting a wicked man's head off. Did you not read the part where it says, it is better than one wicked should perish, than that a whole nations should dwindle and perish in unbelief. Now the Book of Mormon tells men what they must do gain peace in this life and eternal life in the life to come, that would not have happened if Nephi didn't obey. Millions of lives have changed for the better and many are in thfe celestial Kingdom and paradise right now because they have a testimony of the Book of Mormon another testame T of Jesus Christ. And let me remind you. God slayed the wicked for his own righteous purposes. For in isaiah we read that God's thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways. His purpose was to bring save His children and he will not suffer that one wicked man will be the cause of stopping that to happen. God's works will not be frustrated.

I think you are both missing the point here. Grace and faith are two different things. Grace is decided by Jesus and faith is decided by us and both are required to achieve the maximum outcome in an afterlife... So we come across an argument that I see so many times, but actually both sides of the argument miss the context of the point... Our faith cannot save us nor can our works if Jesus decides not to apply his grace... Grace is a decision based on how Jesus considers our situation.. Now to go with the Mormon point of view, Jesus grew in favour of God as he practiced doing his will, which means that as Jesus said as a warning "by there works you shall know them". If you believe his words you will follow the two parables as Jesus taught.. 1. Not to hide your light 2. To be a good Samaritan. Jesus also talks of what keeps you out of heaven, and it's not Based on false beliefs, false prophets etc, which were rife during Christ time. Rather than do what this post tries to do,bwhich destroys good faith in what are called "true believer Mormons", but is more on the fact in how well you live your life.... Can a Hindu be saved? Or a Muslim be saved? Even if they have no passing mention of Jesus between their ears? Grace applies here as Jesus will say, these lived their lives as good people etc, it won't matter of the false doctrine they were taught. If a Mormon keeps their values as the ancient Essenes did and serve man and woman in their best capacity according to their beliefs, god's grace is more lightly apply to these than professors of faith who like the Pharisees taught good things but their hearts were far away... I think both sides of the argument miss the point and neither understand grace or works...

@@tonyawhaley1781 Well Tonya I will tell you this. His last words are totally dependent upon which version you read. Right? Let's see... in Matthew he says that the last words of Jesus are: 46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Then Matthew says: 50 ¶ Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. Now let us look and see what Mark has to say: 34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? So Matthew and Mark say the same thing. Let us see what Luke has to say: 46 ¶ And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost. And now for the last testimony of what his last words were... from John: 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. So there ya have it Tonya. 4 versions, 2 are the same... 2 are different. So let me now ask you. You said I bet you don’t have a clue of his last words on the cross. It is finished. Now you know that that might not have been the last words he said. We really don't know do we????? But I think you would like it to be.. hey, I was the same way about 2 years ago, then I took a step back an analyzed things. Sure, the church teaches generally good things that will make you happy, but ultimately it can not be true (or highly unlikely anyway) as the claim of it can not be verified. For this, consider a simple experiment. Since 2 people from two different religions can pray about something and both feel a confirmation of their beliefs, while it is not possible for them both to be correct, then we must conclude faith is not a good measure of truth. Since faith is really the only way to justify belief in a religion, that means, believing in the church (or any church for this matter) is an act that can not be justified, thus since it can not ever be shown to be a justifiable action, it makes no sense to believe in one. This is a hard pill to swallow but is ultimately the logical conclusion.

ALTERABLE DECREES ~ The evolving doctrines of the church necessitated editing, for a period, the Book of Mormon's teaching that God's decrees are unalterable. 1830 original edition Alma 29:4 I ought not to harrow up in my desires the firm decree of a just God, for I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire, whether it be unto death or unto life; yea, I know that he allotteth unto men, yea, decreeth unto them decrees which are unalterable, according to their wills, whether they be unto salvation or unto destruction. >>>1837 edition until 1981 I ought not to harrow up in my desires the firm decree of a just God, for I know that he granteth unto men according to their desire, whether it be unto death or unto life; yea, I know that he allotteth unto men, according to their wills, whether they be unto salvation or unto destruction. NOTE: LDS leaders RE-inserted the omitted words (yea, decreeth unto them decrees which are unalterable) into all editions since 1981. It is possible Joseph Smith deleted this portion of the verse because it conflicted with a revelation he claimed to receive in 1831 found in Doctrine & Covenants 56:4,5 "Wherefore I, the Lord, command and revoke, as it seemeth me good; and all of this upon the heads of the rebellious, saith the Lord. Wherefore, I revoke the commandment which was given unto my servants …" The eight words were later re-inserted into the text of Alma 29:4 and are present there today. These are just a few examples of the hundreds of TEXTUAL changes in the Book of Mormon; changes which ALTER the meaning of the scriptures. They cannot be denied --- they are a matter of FACT, of record, of history. I own a copy of the original 1830 printing, and a later edition, just to satisfy myself personally. The changes are deeply shameful, and make a laughing stock of Joseph Smith's original claim "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on the earth." I still have the many different translations of the Bible I have in English. They do vary. The Jews have a version of the Old Testament that differs from the one the New Testament always quoted, and when we find New Testament texts the Greek varies from one book of the Bible to the next. Some current Bibles are based on comparing the texts that continue to be found and try to correspond to the earliest texts found.

No Other Gospel Galatians 1:8-9 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Archaeologists have yet to unearth any evidence supporting the claims of the Book of Mormon. In Ether 7:8-9, we read of steel and breakable windows (2:23) in Abraham’s time. Try to explain that to an archaeologist! Steel was not developed until about 3,000 years later. At the end of the Book of Mormon, Moroni tells about a great battle that took place on the Hill Cumorah. More than 200,000 people, armed to their teeth, were killed on that hill. The story tells about their weapons, breastplates, helmets, swords, etc. Nothing like that has ever been found on that hill or anywhere else on this continent. Metal helmets, swords, etc., do not just disappear in a mere 1,400 years.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe each of us is a Child of God and that God, our Heavenly Father is the God of the Old Testament and has a purpose and plan for each of our lives. He loves each of us and provided a Savior for us, even Jesus Christ. It is through Jesus Christ that we are saved because of Christ’s atonement for our sins. As we read the New Testament we can learn of Jesus’ love for us. I believe the Book of Mormon is another testament Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon brings us closer to Christ. I know that when I read the scriptures & pray I feel closer to God. The temple is built in Holiness to the Lord. Everyone is welcome in the church and in the temple for as we read in Luke 14.. “there is room.. taste of my supper” I don’t think I am better or different than anyone else. I try to follow Christ & be a good person and show love and serve my neighbors. God loves you and I! I feel so blessed to know Jesus Christ. Pray and ask God to lead you to do His will. My daughter has served a mission. Missionary work is hard! Please be kind to the missionaries. These are young people who have left their families, friends, college.. everything to share the love of God with you. If you are not interested just tell them! They don’t want to argue with you or convince you to do something you don’t want to do. They volunteer in your communities and spend every single day trying to be close to God and to share His love with you. They have to pay all their own living expenses as well as donate 1 1/2- 2 years of their lives in the service of God. Ask them where they came from and why they are there. They will tell you. The Bible teaches us that just as the apostle Paul we are to teach salvation unto Christ. That is why they are there. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches all of its members to serve in the community and share the love of Jesus Christ. Members of the church are normal people who make mistakes- this should not condemn the whole church. If you have questions about anything you should ASK GOD- NOT google as this woman tells you. God is the source of all truth (Matt 7:8) and waits for us to come to Him so He can provide peace. 1Cor 14:33 teaches us that God is not the author of confusion but of peace.

The Alfa and the Omega. He was not once a man that was exulted to godhood. Satan and Jesus are not brothers. Mary was a virgin and it was a miracle. Look at your own church doctrine and all of Joseph Smiths failed prophecies. Not one has come true. The Bible tells us to look for false prophets... if you think of the situation of his wives alone you should distrust that man. If you look at what has been disproved as far as native Americans you should distrust the church. If you look at the hating of anyone of color, that their skin was dark because they where cursed men, you should distrust this church. It is not a church of the one true Word of God and the Bible.

@@lindalds The Book of Mormon stories as "transcribed" by Joseph Smith are subject to enormous doubt, and that doubt leads to followers having a completely "blind" faith; believers told to "doubt any doubts" and to blindly believe words on a page. I say no to this notion ~ Do NOT doubt your doubts! Be aware of false teachings!! Aside from the BOM reading mostly like fiction, the stories are very similar (copying ?) many concepts from the Bible and seem all too "fantastical". I refuse to believe in any faith that appears to have ~ "fantasy" belief systems, ideas based on man-made ideologies about heaven, the afterlife, about God in the Triune, and about what is considered true prophecy, or what it means to be a true prophet. None of the men in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles are "true" prophets. That includes Russell M. Nelson. They are good men yes, but these are simply just men, not true prophets of God. Also, a true prophet of God is one with whom all of things to come (prophecy) come to fruition. They actually come true. All of them. All these mortal men (executives?) of the Church that were voted into the top ranks inside the Mormon Church were placed (voted) into those Quarum positions, whether called "prophet" or other titles, they were put there by other men, not by God. Men placing other men into positions of power and authority; that, by default, makes those men NOT prophets appointed by God. Remember, no prophet in the Holy Bible wants to be a prophet, or seeks to be a prophet. Men of God, men that walk with the Holy Spirit do NOT seek positions of power, wealth and authority.. as proven throughout the history of prophets interacting with the divine, or the Godhead. Lastly, we are warned so clearly (i.e. the Apostle Paul) in the scriptures to NOT abandon the gospel message of the Bible and to follow new teachings that teach a "new" gospel message. People should no better; esp. in these "latter"-days.

I do not doubt my doubts about the Book of Mormon because I have no doubts. True prophets are shot down every day, and it's not until a few years, or a few generations that people realize that they WERE true prophets. You say a true prophet is called by God, not men, but a man can clim to be a prophet, Hebrews 5 says a man must be called of God as was Aaron. How was Aaron called? By God, through Moses. As for sounding a lot like the Bible, why woulddd that be a pronlem? I would be cncerned if it sounded the oppposite of the Gospel message of the Bible. I was totally confused because I know true Christians do not believe in that. Then one of their missionaries was talking to me and opened their bible and at the bottom it said Mormon. That’s when I was even more puzzled because I had no idea about Mormonism. Literally recently I am learning about it and another missionary asked me what my religious background is, in front of their followers. When I said I was raised in Islam but I don’t agree with the religion. That’s when one of their followers told me it’s all the same and most religions come from the Middle East have similar beliefs. So later through text I asked their missionary if they practice polygamy, which I am totally against and one of the reasons I don’t subscribe to Islam, the missionary told me they used to do it under the directions from God. So I have been telling them I’m busy and don’t have time to come over for “bible” study. Jedediah M. Grant said: This ancient philosopher says they were both John's wives. Paul says, "Mine answer to them that do examine me is this:-.Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas." He, according to Celsus, had a numerous train of wives. The grand reason of the burst of public sentiment in anathemas upon Christ and his disciples, causing his crucifixion, was evidently based upon polygamy, according to the testimony of the philosophers who rose in that age. A belief in the doctrine of a plurality of wives caused the persecution of Jesus and his followers. We might almost think they were "Mormons." But if you pass on in their history to seek for uniformity and beauty, you will find some grand flare-ups among them. Look, for instance, at Paul and Peter, disputing and quarrelling with each other....

Orson Hyde remarked: I discover that some of the Eastern papers represent me as a great blasphemer, because I said, in my lecture on Marriage, at our last Conference, that Jesus Christ was married at Cana of Galilee, that Mary, Martha, and others were his wives, and that he begat children. All that I have to say in reply to that charge is this-they worship a Savior that is too pure and holy to fulfil the commands of his Father. I worship one that is just pure and holy enough "to fulfil all righteousness;" not only the righteous law of baptism, but the still more righteous and important law "to multiply and replenish the earth." Startle not at this! for even the Father himself honored that law by coming down to Mary, without a natural body, and begetting a son; and if Jesus begat children, he only "did that which he had seen his Father do."

Lying for the lord... I was very disappointed in my Mormon friend, when we were discussing the Bible versus Book of Mormon. I told her Mormons think they become gods when they die which is extremely blasphemous according to the Bible. She proceeded to tell me that she read that we call become gods from the Bible itself, and she said it in such a firm way that we both knew she was lying through her teeth but she didn’t respect me enough to admit the truth. I’m not particularly religious but it disgusted me

The Mormon Bible is not the same as a Christian Bible, Joseph Smith wrote it to suit his needs.

Just to help you understand. They are groomed to be missionaries to their friends and neighbors..generally speaking, you get so wrapped up in the grooming, you overlook things..not good, but the mind f@ck is deep! And you dont know what you're doing.

Alright, alright, I'm a convert of almost 5 years and I just got back from my mission in Germany. I know what's up. While a lot of this is true, some of it really isn't. And all of this is twisted into a bad light and is highly misunderstood. Hate on us all you want, believe what you want, but we're just Christians, plain and simple. Of course we have unique views and beliefs, what religion doesn't? But we're not a cult, we're not brainwashed, we're not satanists. We're just people.
