Dan makes an exceptional observation about the relevance of anachronisms.

I'm on the same side as you, John, when it comes to the Mormon religion, but I think the methods of mind control and manipulation carry over to most every religion and political entity. That's where you and I differ.

When I was a teenager (and utterly naive to Mormonism) I was a Dungeon Master making a 'homebrew' D&D game for my friends. Place-names and god-names like 'Nephis' and 'Zelfix' were in the mix, totally by coincidence. It turns out one of the players was a lapsed Mormon... I wonder if I got the inspiration by 'osmosis,' maybe scanning titles on his family's bookshelf. It was completely unconcious, but entirely plausible, considering the number of near 'hits,' slight variations on Mormon names.

I agree about the anachronisms (e.g., baptizing in the Name of Jesus Christ before He was born, or using His Name before the incarnation).

LDS President Gordon B Hinckley, in Oct 1961 said; “I would like to say that this cause is either true or false either this is the kingdom of God or it is a sham and a delusion. Either Joseph talked with the father and the son or he did not if he did not we are engaged in blasphemy.” No doubt Smith talked to some body or something, but don't believe it Jesus. "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by giving heed to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons" 1 Timothy 4:1

the entire point of the B of M is Emma Hale's Father - Joe had just run off with his daughter - got married - went broke and RETURNED to skeptic Mr Hale who offered farm work - that was work so Smith came up with a whopper - now Smith had tried for 4 years to find the GOLDEN Plates but did NOT have EMMA - yes Mr Hale your daughter is The Key... that's why God wants us together - to find Scripture and Treasure - why there's tons of treasure all around here - just like I told everyone around here - I really am a seer - honest - here you go... you can feel the gold in this pillowcase... Dad... - soooo.... Mr Hale saw Smith as a scammer just as he always did... enter Martin Harris who now supports Smith while Smith "translates" - enter Mrs Harris who is also a skeptic - better wrap up the book and sell it in Canada... Mrs Harris is pissed....

I agree with Paul S (first comment). When I saw the name Dan Vogel in the title I was super excited, but this video left me feeling worried about his health. He reminds me of my father when he was on heavy medication for the pain he was in due to cancer (see 51:10 to 51:20). I really hope Dan is ok.

The coincidence of not just one but a lot of names being found around the geography where Joseph lived that landed in the b of M. Is too big. He obviously used those names and it is a legitimate point to use. It's too obvious. It shouldn't just be thrown out the window just because he used other names too.

we forget that Smith Family poverty was from a ship that failed to come in - obv they had a world view - 2nd - Hebrew Names have "meanings" - how many of B of M are Hebrew Names ? Lehi is a place in the Bible and Laban is a Name - now what does Nephi and Laman etc mean in Hebrew ? maybe the 1st "Location" to look for Mormon Evidence is a Hebrew Dictionary or Grammar Book

Is it just me, but are they saying names strangely? I hear Booka mormun and josa smiff. Not sure if it's an accent, or a slight at the subjects.

Videos such as this are ineffective in the same way in which videos against Trump are ineffective.
