Thanks for watching, Andrei! The stations were pretty much my entire reason for visiting this line... such fascinating architecture!

Fun fact: Once upon a time, the Pennsy had a branch that left the Chestnut Hill Branch. It was the Fort Washington Branch which connected to the Trenton Cutoff. It was primarily used for freight, but did host an occasional passenger train. It had wooden Catenary poles as well. It also is unique in that during the Second World War, it was a money loser. The line did go into Conrail, but lasted only a short time under CR before it was abandoned.

Wow, I never knew that! Thanks for the cool information and thanks for watching, Jessica! :D

TrainiacProductions More info. It was electrified from the 20s to the 50s. It split off the branch near Allen Lane. Abandoned by Conrail in 1978. I'll share some pics on the Facebook page.

There is a short entry about the Cresheim Branch a.k.a. Fort Washington Branch on the Wikipedia site: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cresheim_Creek#Cresheim_Branch_(Fort_Washington_Branch)_of_the_Connecting_Railway A steel trestle, which replaced the former stone railroad bridge for this branch, crosses Germantown Avenue next to Cresheim Creek and the former Trolley Diner at the Chestnut Hill / Mount Airy line. In Google Map's satellite view, it's interesting to trace the right-of-way for that branch, as it winds its way toward Route 309 (Fort Washington Expressway) and then merges with the highway's path. More of it (between Gtwn Av. and the 309) may eventually be developed as an extension of the Cresheim Trail, but for now it seems to primarily function as a pathway for PECO high-tension power lines.

Hi, Bob! I went out to try to see a test run of the new ACS-64 the other week, but I had missed it. I'm gonna try to catch the future test runs, though!
