Aaron can I send a new comment. Please allow me to thank you for posting your content on KZbin, thanks to you and a few other people, I got my call sign last night/tonight. Just last month I was listening to you all on a road trip. Your gear looks like my existing camera gear, and I also live near a state park. Thanks man! KE9BHN

You’re probably right! It looks like a cross between a 705 and a Yaesu FT-710. I dig it. We will see how good it is! I already put in a reservation for one.

@@w4arb I have an FT-710; nice radio, but… I still enjoy my Elecraft K2(s) - yes I have more than one - too much to use the FT-710 all the time. I’m on the fence on putting a deposit on the new Yaesu QRP radio.
@w4arb4 ай бұрын
The K2 is a legendary radio! In my opinion, the “best” radio is the one that you enjoy using the most, because that’s what gets you on the air! My favorite rig at home is a Kenwood TS-590S. No waterfall, no fancy screen, just good performance, audio, buttons and knobs! :)

Aaron I understood 50% of that. Q: How did you choose which Bioenno battery? They all look identical and they're all 3-4#s. Going to HRO Friday.
@w4arb4 ай бұрын
Very nice!! Which bioenno depends on 1) How much power you will be using, and 2) How long will you be operating. In this case, I am running a max of 100 watts so I need a battery that can handle 20+ amps continuous discharge. Then I want to be able to operate for at least one hour at 100 watts. At 50% duty cycle (transmitting 50% of the time), 20 amps discharge, that’s 10 Amp Hours (shown as “Ah” in the batteries), plus 30 minutes of receiving at 2 amps, that means I need at least an 11Ah battery for operating 100W for one hour at 50% duty cycle. So I use the BLF-1212A which is a 12 Ah battery, and is the perfect shape to fit in the water bottle pocket of my backpack. Plus I actually operate at 50W, and in real world it’s more like 25% duty cycle. So I can reliably get 3+ hours of operating out of it. Hope that helps, sorry for the long winded response!
