Movie jargon and the reporting tends to be confusing. A prop gun is one that can not have real bullets inserted a real gun can be used as a prop just like a real aircraft can be used as a prop but it doesn't make it a prop aircraft. A cold gun does not have any blanks in it and a hot gun has blanks in it. If he opened it and saw at least 3 rounds than it was a hot gun. There are additional protocols if there is blanks in the gun like never pointing it at another person. People have been injured and killed by guns with blanks.

You're right, but... you can't expect news stations to understand every bit of the minutiae, let alone overwhelm the general public with it. Just like typical humans BARELY understand virology and vaccines (if at all). But... yes... you're right: PROP = a facsimile, non-functional COLD = functional, but NOTHING INSIDE (& checked) HOT = blanks exist, whether 1, more, or all. The news probably won't make a distinction regarding the fact that LIVE AMMO isn't supposed to be on any set (EVER) in the first place... so... the fact that it WAS actually there is just LUDICROUS and a disgusting example of gross negligence by Hall and his young, undereducated female assistant. Bottom line: IT WAS A DISASTER. Hall and his assistant need to be permanently banned from all future film sets. It is what it is.

She lied about checking them before they went to set, she lied to the set manager and Mr. Baldwin about the firearm being cold, and she played with the firearms with live rounds after work. Everyone with access to the gun on that set is now accountable. In the future: Guns should not be handed to actors ever without thorough inspection by a gun expert at any set with guns! Leaving this all up to a teen girl !? Really? Just absurd! Any gun used should be opened and proven to be empty before used by any actor period! Immediately before handing guns to actors , open the gun and prove there r no shells in that chamber, period!

I have to say: UNLESS he somehow 'magically' knew that the prop gun was NOT safe... there is no reason it would be his responsibility, fault, or otherwise. That said, I suppose they'll need to explain why any prop gun was DIRECTLY aimed toward a person, *although* I imagine it was to get the particular camera angle where it would have appeared that Baldwin's character was 'shooting into the camera lens' (in other words, shooting 'another character'). 😓 Ugh. What a tragedy. That 24 year-old's attempts at a career in props is over, and the 'Dave Hall' chap needs to serve time and be PERMANENTLY REMOVED from any and all Hollywood jobs, period. Especially ones with weaponry of ANY kind. I wish *I* had been hired to work that job. NO INJURIES would have ever occurred. NEVER.
