Because I grew up watching any and all French movies that I could find, I've always been obsessed with a strong, thick brow and a deep red smudged lip. A deeper red works better for my skin than the brighter ones but the idea of clean skin, natural brows, and a classic lip has always fascinated me and now I never leave home without it!

When you pressed your lips together to transfer color from the top to the bottom lip...it was a perfectly magical moment! You look so pretty! My mom didn't wear makeup because she was allergic to almost all of it. She was naturally beautiful so she didn't really need any additional enhancement. My grandma was a beauty queen so she always had bright lipsticks on, even after she had cataracts and couldn't really see. I used to fix her lipstick for her before she'd go out to meet with her friends.

Grew up def with lip stain and lipstick. Blush came second. I never really did much mascara as I have very long lashes. Did black eyeliner faintly though on the inner lash line. but lips were a must lip liner too

The cat eye has been a staple for me. I started doing it when I was 12 or 13. At this age it was only that and a lip balm. It was pitch black. As I got older, I started to use brown kohl, so it looks more "natural" and chic. I never feel quite like myself without a lil bit of winged eyeliner. I feel like it's part of my DNA as well!

Most women I knew as a child, wore a lot of makeup, except my mother. She only wore a red or coral lip, applied in the morning. She only reapplied if she went out at night. I'm African-American, and when I was young, there were few foundation options in the tan-dark brown range. My mother's parents were both mixed, so her coloring was more similar to yours. I'm several shades darker. My grandmother and mother, always told me I was a beautiful color. As I got older, covering my skin with ill matching foundations did not appeal. I lightly started using one when I found a good one at 21. I like watching makeup tutorials as entertainment. Ones by black women are especially heavy in application, yet great to watch their skills. Yours is the 1st to inspire this almost 51 year old to wear sparkle and to try a few new things. Merci!

love love love the colour palete of this look! Blue jeans, red heels, blue stripes, and orange red lipstick,... what a classic combination. As in Asia we love bright, pure, and translucent complexion (thanks, SPF) and vivid lip tint. I was brought up in Hanoi, women there barely wear any foundation, but they cannot leave home without lip colour, usually mandarin red on pale girls and dirty orange on tanned girls. Ox-blood red lip colour is universally loved; eyeliners and eyeshadow, if there are any, should be discreet.

Looove this 😍 I'm from Spain and my grandma was Andalusian, so her beauty lesson was always "que los ojos se vean grandes y bonitos" (make your eyes look big and beautiful!). Moreover, my eyes are big and rounded so I go for eyeliner and mascara every day to enhance their shape (eyeliner in my waterline makes them look less prominent + frame them). So yeah! That's one of our favourite looks here in the South: frame your eyes, some blush and usually no lipstick or a nude one (little or no foundation too!). Then when we go out at night we give a little more attention to the lips. 😉💃

Such a pretty color! I always focused my look on Clinique plum colored lipstick ( A Different Grape) 🍇 and a pot of thick wine toned gloss that came with a tiny brush. The look I grew up with was a light wash of smudgey matte brown shadow on the lid and lower lashline with a very subtle pop of copper at the center to accentuate my blue eyes. Bobbi Brown had this amaaaazing copper loose shadow from one of the beach collections (that is now discontinued, R.I.P) that I definitely loved more than my first few boyfriends lol. And of course I wore Maybelline Great Lash mascara like most American teens and pre-teens. I would usually wear a creamy, slightly pink, nude lipstick. No blush, just a matte bronzer (Laguna by Nars).
