This needs to be a full total war game. Folks interested in pike and shot will be happy. Folks who want mongols will be happy. W eebs will be happy. Folks who want medieval style warfare with gunpowder will be happy. Heck even folks who want European cultures can be added in dlc with the Portuguese and Spanish. It is a very underexplored time period. It will have some of the most interesting units like early handcannons, repeating crossbows, early explosives and fire lance cavalry. A game full of fireworks 🎉would be awesome to see

Modders are carrying the gaming industry at the moment. GTA, Total War, Paradox Games, Warband, Bannerlord, Valve Games and countless other keep making me come back due to the awoseme amount of love and care put into fantastic mods that are sometimes even better then the games created by AAA studios. Just look at Perisno, Pendor, Kaiserriech, ASOIAF CK2, DEI and Ante bellum.

Seriously can we speak about this more though. Consider the main reason why these modders succeed so well in creating amazing content. Their care for art detail and a good quality creation. Some don't even make much or anything from it. They do it for the love of their art form, video games. If we saw this understood properly by the big companies running the mainstream show it would cause them to totally re invent their perspective on what matters with video game creation. We would start seeing much higher quality games beyond expectations considering the funding those companies have. And they would also see a drastically larger amount of profits. It'd be a win win. Unfortunately though I don't see it happening until those companies really loose out and become forced to change their approach.

10/10 recommend this mod! Played a game as Aisin Gioro and conquered all of mainland Asia (minus Korea) to create the Qing Empire as happened IRL. I've played more non-Japanese factions in this mod than I've played Japanese factions at all in Shogun 2 and it's DLC's.

I think its tricky. See. Some unit share a dialog.txt. I tried to change the tercios sound file to napoleon portuguese sound..... only to have british marine unit in FOTS to speak portugese. Its a pain in the @$$ to change it back each time.

Thanks for the review of my mod. Unfortunately I don't know why castles, trees, etc don't show up if you go too far east or west on this mod which results in much of it looking barren. I also don't know how to make battle maps so I can't improve the castles. Regarding the units most of the Chinese units are from a Mount and Blade mod. I'm currently trying to add some new Korean units to make their roster better.

I've played this mod several times before. The issue is that once you reach a certain turn, your game will crash every time you end the turn and because of that, you cannot continue the campaign.

As mentioned by others, this mod is utterly fantastic in terms of scale and general brushstrokes. The extra effort put in to have different unit card styles for the different cultures (Jurchen, Chinese, Korean and Japanese), the numerous units, the number of provinces, the number of uniquely named factions, characters etc. is highly commendable. But this mod seriously lacks polish. Obviously a huge amount of effort has been put into this mod and I would never be able to produce something of this quality. But the barren campaign map, lack of battle/siege map diversity and general lack of polish is ultimately what bring it down for me.

if you want mutli-ethnies and units, the best hope is to have a Medieval 3, with Tang China, Goguryeo, Silla, Gokturk, Uyghur, Japan, Nanchao, Tibet... all these in East Asia, more of these Empires have never been represented by any strategic game,

As a korean american kid, one of the first clips I saw of shogun 2 was of this mod and I wanted to get this game so badly because of that. Unfortunately I didn't realize at the time that it wasn't part of the actual game and so I tried getting the mod, but the installation was too complex for my rudimentary mind to manage at the time so I gave up. But rather recently I came back successfully got the latest version of the mod!

I played it already, it is ok if you really want to go with Korea or some Jurchens, but Ming Dynasty is bloody huge and unmanageable. My main criticism is that the mod lacks quality overall, in campaign and in battles, didn't cut for me, I need at least battle eye candy.

Playing a Japanese faction is kind of funny, in that while you can tell the game is modded, as the factions, diplomacy, and provinces are more numerous, but it still is a largely vanilla experience of unifying Japan, and then when you zoom out the map it becomes sobering to see a whole world beyond that wasn't there before. Though Shogun's AI isn't made for this, so China may still declare war on you when it makes no sense. I also laughed when Ming started collapsing and lost Beijing to rebels early, because that's apparently unavoidable no matter what game features the Ming... Also they should have kept Japan's territories more vanilla, since unified Japan has more provinces (and thereby more economic and military power) than China can bring, which isn't exactly accurate or fair. - Edit: And after around 30+ turns in, game started crashing during battles more frequently. Not sure if those were connected, but had not had battle crashes at an earlier phase. I wonder if AI started using a unit at that point that it should not have been.

Shogun 2 really needed an expansion like this once you were done with the main campaign if I'm honest, and it's a missed opportunity that CA never capitalised on this. Yet when I look now at the graphics it does look a bit outdated for me....don't know why It's fantastic we have a mod like this and Med 2 ALSO has a mod like this as well!

I love the idea that you can only raise units that are traditionaly available in that area. After all, how can a Japanese player go to China and expect to raise an army of samurai? Or in other TW, how can a greek player use a province in Morocco to raise hoplites?

i like the idea of having mainland asia as the perfect playground for the endgame since vanilla shogun 2 campaign has always felt really short (i actually like to turtle into my territory when i'm close to hitting realm divided to get the techs i want to get and so the campaign doesn't end so fast). The lackluster map is a real turn off for me tho

No Empire and Napoleons campaign maps are mostly hardcoded and therefore almost impossible to expand through modding alone eventhough it was possible in Rome,Medieval 2 and actually to a certain degree in Empire as well by removing a few boundaries in areas where new provinces and factions could be found (like the Khanate of Khiva which was a cancelled faction) and by adding the expanded/better split up campaign map of North America of the warpath campaign. The complete overhaul mod which does this is called Imperial Destroyer by Lord Sith with its latest version being ID 6.0 and it’s the greatest if not one of the best mods for Empire I have ever seen.
