Oh fun stuff!! Hope you bring some home! Love the pumice, kohl and jar, soap, and amber scent. Hey, the way to apply the kohl is to wet it, dip whole stick in (liberally coated), put tip in the corner of the eye to stabilize holding the whole thing horizontally , then close your eyes (waterline surface?) ON the whole stick and gently pull toward the outer edge. The length of the stick and the eye being closed is what coats both top and bottom waterline at the same time. There should be enough product that it seeps into lashline. And of course kohl was originally applied to protect eyes from hot windy desert conditions. Not exactly sure how though. 😂 love you guys!

Thank you!! I tried that and it worked so much better than trying to treat the stick like an eyeliner pencil! I'll definitely stick various of these products in my suitcase to use until they run out.

Hi! I love Moroccan beauty products. The way to apply the kohl is to lay the stick against your bottom eyelid, close your eyes over the stick and pull the stick outwards towards the outer corner of your eye parallel to your eyelids. It really doesn't hurt, and you won't stab your eyes out that way lol. However Morocoo is changing really really fast and developing at such a super fast rate, they're changing by leaps and bounds. We went to Morocco a month ago and they no longer sell that kohl because it's pure lead, galena, and if you use it regularly you risk lead poisoning, so I didn't see that kohl on sale anywhere anymore. I didn't ask but I imagine it's been banned. Now they sell kohl from Pakistan that is not handmade, in a little white tube that has been tested and has no lead as far as I know. I used to use Moroccan kohl all the time but since discovering that it is pure lead I don't anymore, but I do miss it because it was the best kohl, it didn't run even if you cried and it stayed all day, and the colour was absolutely gorgeous, a dark silvery grey. However it's not worth risking your health and your cognitive abilities to have pretty eyes. I use the Pakistani kohl in a tube now.

She probably has Ithmid Kohl. Ithmid Kohl is made from stibnite which is not only non-toxic but actually really good for your eyes. You should definitely try it out if you can, it has a similar silvery effect as Galena Kohl does but not as strong.
@saraha55229 ай бұрын
I love Moroccan kohl. However stibnite is antimony and even if antimony isn't as toxic as lead, which is toxic even in small amounts and accumulates inside you, for example if you cry and your tears roll into your mouth or you touch your eyes and then your mouth, or you lick your kohl stick like I've seen some people do, or your child finds it and plays with it and then puts it in his mouth. Even so antimony is toxic in large amounts if you eat it or breathe it in, like asbestos is. I know you're not going to go out and eat kohl, but you might lick your fingers without meaning to to clean off the black stain (I've done that) and it's cumulative as well, if you do it day after day. You don't realize that you're doing it because you do it automatically. The fact that it's toxic means it kills germs and bacteria that can cause eye infections or eye diseases, and it repels insects which is important in a desert. However in a modern clean home it isn't necessary to use kohl to keep our eyes clean, and there are safer alternatives to stibnite, like the lead-free ones I use. Here is an article about the toxicity of antimony but there are many others out there on the internet (not a link because I don't know if KZbin allows links in comments, just copy and paste in a browser window and write before the URL and replace the dot with a period): cdc(dot)gov/niosh/topics/antimony/default.html#:~:text=Antimony%20(Sb)%20is%20a%20silver,to%20antimony%20and%20its%20compounds.

That teeth stick we use in tribal areas of Pakistan. It protect from tooth problems. And that green lipstick is amazing , we use it as lip balm . Its not greasy but heal and protect lips beautifully. Pumice stone also work good , but in Pakistan it is very big in size.

Great question! Unfortunately, when packing lightly to travel for a year+ at a time out of one suitcase, a headband didn't make the cut as one of the absolute necessities, so I didn't have access to one.

Actually, the soap you liked is not actually soap to use it everyday... we used in the "hamam" or before the shower to remove the dead skin from our bodies with "kiss" I don't know if you ever heard of it while you were in Morocco!

Thank you for the extra information, Wijdane! The soap felt so amazing that it must be hard to resist using it every day, haha. No, I don't think we ever heard of "kiss," what is that? We really want to go back to Morocco this year or next year, so I'd love to know about "kiss" so we can try it. (And I'm sure other viewers would love the info, too!)
