Another very useful video. Best retired nomad channel on KZbin. Appreciate your reminder to be gracious and remember that they are feeding their families. We never negotiate street food prices.

Hi Brigid, We had considered a day tour there, but we didn't end up making it work. We were a bit overwhelmed with Marrakech and sorting out our Sahara Desert trip that we couldn't squeeze in Essaouria. But we are very intrigued by it and would love to spend some time there! -Judy

Thank you so much for watching! We tried to get there last year, but the flights are so expensive. And we also really want to do a safari while we’re there. By the way things are looking, we probably won’t be able to visit until 2026. I’m heartsick about it, but it is still one of the places I am most excited to visit. -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarie Aww, you're welcome! I am looking forward to that since from what I understand, my heritage stems from Southern Spain with its strong Moroccan influence. So I've had a strong connection there, as much as I have had with Italy and France. STRANGE that I've never been to Argentina, though once to Sao Paulo for work, once to Venezuela with my parents and several times to Colombia.

@@enriquesanchez2001 What an interesting and diverse heritage you have! We were surprised to hear from a few of our guides about how well a Seville trip fits with a visit to Morocco, and we met up with a few people who were combining various locations in Spain with Morocco. Do you have any experience with Cartagena? We are still working on our South America itinerary and are open to suggestions! -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarie Indeed, Sevilla is absolutely connected to Morocco historically and culturally. Sevilla happens to be one of the most fascinating and colorful cities in Spain along with Granada with its grand Alhambra Palace, which is but ~100 miles away. Cities you would want to spend a great deal of time in. I go could on for days explaining the beauties there! 😄NOW Cartagena is not as large as those previous two but it is among my favorite cities, so colorful, right in front of the ocean. I'll never forget dining atop a small hill there overlooking the ocean! The colonial architecture is so beautiful. But be warned, it is a very warm and tropical city with temperatures in the 80s all year round, evenings in the 70s! ENJOY!

Thanks for this encouragement, Enrique! We have to find a way to get to more Spanish cities. I wish we could have more time in Schengen! We actually are considering Cartagena, Colombia (I didn't realize there was a Cartagena, Spain)! -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarie you ought to look into flying to Seville from Malta or the other way round. Every time I ve been to Spain and Portugal it was direct flights to and from said countries.
@FindingGinaMarie
@FindingGinaMarie Ай бұрын
If only we'd seen this sooner, BUT we recently booked our flight in and out of Malta. Our flight to Malta is after our yearly trip to the US and the cheapest flight we could get from San Francisco was an overnight in Barcelona. We could have detoured in Seville for a few days, but we also are anxious to experience a full month in Malta before heading to Sardinia. Surprisingly, Malta has a direct flight to Sardinia, which was unexpected but awesome. But don't worry. We definitely intend to make it to Seville at some point! Although there's a growing list of cities in Spain we want to see, too! -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarieDo let me know when you LL be coming over. And feel free to get in touch with regards to anything you d like to know before coming. I will recommend that you book a visit to the Hypogeum. It s a UNESCO world Heritage site and only a limited number of tourists are allowed in on a daily basis. Usually tickets are bought three months ahead as they re sold way beforehand. I would also recommend you book a week out of the four in our sister island of Gozo. It s just 20 minutes away from the main island of Malta but still not as crowded as here. It s also much greener.

@@FindingGinaMarieregarding flights out or into Malta we re very well connected to the rest of Europe since we have to fly out of this tiny island for holidays or work. Aer Lingus is soon going to start operating from here and that will open the American market for us. For me it will be easier to travel to visit friends in the States.

@@FindingGinaMarie My family and I usually visit once a year during summer during the kids school break. We try to include other country with Egypt, last year it was Spain. Egypt is my home country and where we have friends and relatives. I lived in Australia for 13 years before moving to the US. I own an Airbnb guest house in Sydney if you are planning to visit. It is further away from the City though! We try to visit Australia every few years. But I dread the distance and cost 😀 But who knows, might end up visiting again next year

It makes sense to have to work around kids' school schedule. Where did you end up in Spain? We enjoyed Barcelona and Madrid, but we actually prefer Egyptian food! Thanks for the suggestion about an Airbnb in Sydney. We have friends there as well, but I don't think we're going to make our way there next year, unfortunately. And yes, the distance and cost gives us heartburn, too. We tried to get there this year after our Asia travels, but even getting past the cost of the flight, the accommodations costs are frightening, too. We're hoping our time in South America allows us to save a bit for our time there. We know it will be a great experience! -Judy

@@FindingGinaMarie For Spain we started in Bacelona then rented a car to Salou then Terragona then Valencia then Stopped at Alaicante forte then Granada then Cordoba then Sevilla then flew to Madrid for few days before flying back to Barcelona 🙂 We actually thinking of Italy end of May once the kids are off school before spending time in Egypt. I went to Italy back in 2014 before I got married while I lived in Australia. It was with a tour company and it was pricy. This time, we hope to plan it ourselves. Well! My wife does the planning and I will only watch ( finding Gina Marie videos) 😄 Hope you have a great time in South America and Melbourne . Looking forward to the videos coming ✈️🇦🇺🙂

@livingworkingoutsidebox: This Saturday we'll be doing a video about how we view money and some of the ways we think about the categories we spend money on. Then the following Saturday our episode will be all about exactly how much it costs us. We originally were going to do the cost breakdown, but we thought it made sense to give you an understanding of our approach to money and spending, which is foundational. There are people who spend way more than us and also significantly less than us. We'll be breaking down our full travel budget for what we spent from Nov. 2023 through Nov. 2024. -Judy
