In my non-professional opinion, the tempo here was too fast. Was the soloist rushing to catch a train?? In many respects the music lost much of its emotion and poignancy. When Maestro Morricone conducted the orchestra himself in his concert in Piazza San Marco in Venice a dozen or more years ago, this piece of musical genius was over 5 minutes in length.

OK but credit has to go to Angela Morley who was the one who arranged this for John Williams album Cinema Serenade with Itzhak Perlman soloing, Still grave, gorgeous playing here as well!

My husband played this for me on the violin (with orchestral accompaniment on his bluetooth speaker 😂) when he proposed; he asked me to marry him during the song at

I have listened to MANY renditions of this but this one the violin seems RICHER TONES. HE IS WONDERFUL. UNFORTUNATELY I GET THE MELODY CAUGHT IN MY MIND AND KEEP GOING BACK TO IT LIKE A HAMSTER ON A WHEEL.
