Prince was a musical genius and a true legend, but, as Morris attests here, he was a true asshole. If canceling a gig for Morris and his band at the last minute wasn't bad enough, not offering to reimburse Morris for the expenses was really shitty. As Morris pointed out, Prince had just made $17 million off Purple Rain, and Morris played an integral role in the movie becoming so immensely successful. (The truth of the matter is that from a theatrical standpoint, Morris was the man of that movie and stole the show.) He certainly had the finances to reimburse Morris. Had that been me, I would never spoken to that little bastard ever again.

From a theatrical standpoint Purple Rain was terrible, Joe. Ain’t nobody in that movie could act worth a damn, and Morris didn’t steal any type of show. We all love that movie for the same reason: the music.
@lwmson4 жыл бұрын
@@thedaily30 I disagree. I don't know how old you are or how far back you can go, but when it was released back in '84, just about everyone loved Morris in this movie. He was very humorous and engaging. True, many of the others in this film weren't good actors, but Morris was entertaining.
@thedaily304 жыл бұрын
@joe jones Fair enough; I don’t disagree with you there. I just don’t feel as if he was “the man of the movie” or as if he stole the show. I do remember the entire theatre laughing they asses off when Morris was doing Morris, but when most people think of Purple Rain, I don’t believe they think of Morris Day first. But I’m happy to agree to disagree on that. Peace King.

Life is so ironic , Prince was so tight with his money, never wanted to pay people he worked with, $300.000 for Apollonia and she almost died twice, broken pelvis from motorcycle on top of her, while Prince driving, 2nd Hypothermia from the the cold lake, she said, she heard them saying, we're losing her, Prince was crying saying don't die, while him and a lady hugging keeping Apollonia warm. While Prince made over $50M. Apollonia wrote 2 song wasn't including in the sound track either. Yet he died and everybody came out of the wood, claiming for Prince money, he wasn't able to bring his money with him.

38:36 I don't agree with Michael NEEDING QJ/R.Kelly. Stating this alone shows he doesnt know what he's talking about. Prince could play Instruments, yes ... but do you know HOW many people on earth can play several instruments? Does the fact you can play any instrument(s) make you better than Prince OR MJ? No! It takes waaaaay more than just being able to play instruments. Michael Jackson actually also could play instruments, just like Prince wasn't vocal about doing all by himself, Michael never had the urge to show or tell he could play instruments. He could play Piano and drums. He is even credited on several of his songs that he played instruments. But that's not the point. Michael just didn't NEEED to play instruments. He WAS an instrument. He beatboxed a WHOLE fucking song. He had a whole fucking song already on his mind, from rhythm, to melodies, to chorus, to lyrics, everything .. he Beatboxed his songs to the musicians UNTIL MJ was satisfied. And also please remember Michael Always (!) Even on Thriller Co-Produced his albums. On BAD he co-produced and on Dangerous, HIStory, Invincible, too! Most of his songs and almost ALL of his worldwide smash hits like "Billie Jean", "Beat It", "Smooth Criminal", "Who Is It" and the list goes on and on and on and on .. he WROTE, composed, arranged by himself ... VLAD, you really need to research more ... If Michael REALLLY NEEDED Quincy we wouldn't even HAVE Billie Jean or Smooth Criminal today, because Quincy DIDNT LIKE those songs ... imagine that! It was more that Quincy needed MJ Not the other way around. Imagine not putting Billie Jean on the album! Billie Jean did save and change the whole fucking music industry back then. Thriller single-handedly MADE MTV back then. I'm very very sorry to y'all Prince fans, but you cannot compare Prince to MJ. MJ > anybody else. Go on streets nowadays and ask 10 years old if they ever heard of Prince and make them name a song ... and do same with Michael ... and please, do that all around the world. You will see who is bigger ... period. PS; Never again put Prince and MJ on same level. That's just BS.

@DawgTawkWellington (DTW) lol ... the one inventing his own genre and category is not prince, but MJ .... the word MEGA STAR was invented because of and for MJ. Prince was talented, I'm not takint that away from him. But saying Prince was highly creative and driven while comparing him to MJ is just silly and shows you dont know what youre talking about. MJ made music and since the age of 7 and sold more albums than anybody on this planet before him. MJ is better in all categorys. Be it singing, dancing, choreographing, writing songs, making music videos. just anything. Prince could play instruments .. WOW ... dude, playin an instrument is no special thing. Every fucking Rockband plays instruments ... doesnt mean theyre good musicians ...
@drsupreme19714 жыл бұрын
@DawgTawkWellington (DTW) Thank you couldnt of said it better and also what u said only scratched the surface...Prince extended his talents to producing several artists,groups,and wrote for numerous renowned artists aswell..Michael is pretty much like McDonald's which is simple and made for everyone 5-99 age and Prince was like a 5 star restaurant that was for adults with exquisite tastes.

I lived through the era when they both ruled the world and this compare and contrast between them done by folks who has to make everything out of a competition, is just silly and pointless. They BOTH were equally phenomenal. Michael didn't need QJ and Prince didn't need the instruments. God gave them the instruments and the talent and they shared them with world, just as they were called to do. It doesn't matter who or what they utilized to share their vision, the point is their work ethic and gifts were incomparable at the time. Michael was more than an entertainer and Prince was more than a multi instrumentalist. They were both one of a kind geniuses, so let's just leave it at that.

He still has a nice voice---I grew up liking the Time just as much as Prince, and he was the funniest thing in Purple Rain, for real. And he was a sharp dresser, too. Cool to see that he's still around and performing. I had no idea he knew Prince before he was famous, so that's something new I learned.

It doesn't get any bigger than Prince. You can't even expect to be NOT asked questions about stuff like that if you were fortunate enough to have known him. Prince created an entire genre when nobody else had even heard about who he was. All these guys moved and shaked as a result of that genre. It is the sole reason many of them are who they are. They are inseparable in history and legends in their own right because of it.. Prince's story is their story. Even moreso now that he Rest in Peace and these guys are still here. It is what it is.

Prince's problem was that he had Napoleon complex. His short stature made him a total control freak, imperious and dominating. That was why he refused to appear in the "We Are the World" video. Well... I saw Prince when he was on tour in Houston, Texas many years ago when his Soft and Wet single was a hit song. Rick James was the headliner and the concert to go to at that time. Prince was the opener with Bootsy's Rubber Band coming on second!! Imagine that today??? Prince, Bootsy, and Rick James on one show!!! Concerts were soooo good back then and were affordable. Prince was not received well at all at this show. Everyone was aghast at the attire that he and his band wore. Andre Cymone had on see through pants, Dez had on rock garb, and Prince was dressed like...Prince. No one knew what to think of them at that time. Only Soft & Wet was familiar to the crowd and the rest of his set people were booing loudly and chanting We Want Rick (Rick James) especially when he started singing Still Waiting. My friends and I loved Prince even at that early age. A superstar in the making...
