I’ve got a 1955 splity and I love it. When you look underneath take the outer sills off and check the inner’s. The fuel pump has a set of points in it they might need cleaning if you can’t hear it ticking. Good luck m8.

Birmingham ‘chose’ to go down the category D route though - it could be much less draconian than it is unfortunately! I still think sucking the pollution out of the Queensway tunnels and turning it into diamonds would have been perfect!

@@ABrummieWunders The 'chose' in your reply indicates that you know that there was little or no choice about ULEZ (I am a proud Brummie too). BTW when I was 18 I had a 1958 moggie for 3 years. It was easy to maintain cheap to run and great fun. I hope that you enjoy your new motor.

@@paulbattarbee9615 oh definitely aware that the ‘zero emissions’ initiative has been mandated from the wef overlords and clean air zones were their answer! Bit of a shame how deep Birmingham ended up jumping into the scheme though, the ‘zoning’ of the areas has increased journey lengths and times when it comes to doing any multi drops in the centre and it essentially chopped off the last of Birminghams music scene as they made all of lock ups inaccessible within the ring road by making all of the industrial parking ‘permit only’ and then spent a boat load on getting black sabbath in to mime at the commonwealth with their faux proud ‘Birmingham home of metal’ schtick. E10 fuel is here to exclude the classic cars slowly though, so I’m sure I’ll be priced out of the city again in a few years - bladdy shame! I’m just bitter hahaha! How much did a moggie set you back at the time? What a toy to have at 18! Any idea if it has survived this far?

My father had a Morris Minor that he leant to his brother who was going to Viet Nam from Fort Lewis Washington.. Never seen again... unfortunately I mean the car.

So did the car make the drive to Vietnam?! I’m surprised how far these cars spread around the world - I thought they didn’t stray too far from Britain but I’m very wrong!

So far (touch wood) I’ve still not came across anything majorly concerning - the brake shoes were absolutely shot but apart from that…all seems well! Love the travellers! If you hit any meets or anything let me know and I’ll try and drag Joan out when the weather picks up! All the best!
