Morris Minor sidelights reminder buzzer (advanced)

Morris Minor side lights left on warning (advanced)
Fitting a buzzer to warn when you have forgotten to turn off the sidelights. This version is better than the simple version, but is slightly more involved

What a great video. What rectifier did you use I couldn’t tell what to buy. I fitted a smart light system today it makes the interior light dim after 4 seconds. Keep the videos coming.

Good video although when you refer to a rectifier I think you mean diode. And an M4 bolt in a Minor- sacrilege 🙂

Thanks Nigel. Actually I mean a rectifier diode. A plain diode is similar, but wouldn’t carry the current required. As for M4, you got me. They’re just easier to find.

@@jodiethemorrisminortraveller Interesting, I always thought a rectifier was a device to change AC into DC, and that is what Wiki and other searches seem to confirm. They do it by using diodes - often referred to as rectifier diodes- in a bridge pattern. Good example being the rectifier built into most alternators.

A simple buzzer can be fitted with 2 diodes from each indicator bulb lines to the buzzer positive. The negative side of the buzzer goes to the car body. This procedure is for negative earth vehicles. Have to reverse the buzzer polarity and the diode polarity for positive earth vehicles. The circuit will then be completed by the indicator switch and the flasher unit.
