never been a fan of Morrissey, but this is one of the best versions of this song I've ever heard

One Hell of a cover, Moz nails the chorus with that soaring vocal of his. Two of the UK's most talented, impeccable and important artists represented in this single performance. There's no use in arguing who's better or anything along those lines. Bowie and Morrissey are two completely different musical entities, both of which have defined individuality in Rock and Roll. Two names that will go down in History as the best of their time.

I couldn't agree more! I felt the same way when Bowie covered Lennon's "Mother"

You simply cannot be serious - Morrisey is a second rate performer who has just killed a great song - ask most young people today to name a single Morrisey song and they won’t know one but everyone knows about Bowie

At Morissey's 2016 Manchester Gig Morissey said, "year of the reaper" he singled out Victoria Wood, Muhammad Ali, Caroline Aherne and Prince but with the conspicuous omission of David Bowie. Nature has not made a man of Morissey yet.

Colonel Walter E. Kurtz lmao he's not even that old, the only thing that could really get him is sudden sickness or getting shot. Not nature 😂

they never spoke again after '95 concert----Morissey left w/o telling anyone, and Bowie said they never heard from him again.

if you're a super big Bowie fan, it seems like all covers fall pretty short of the mark.

@@ericpeterson6766 In this case , yes . However , I have heard much better covers of great songs . Nilsson's cover of Badfinger's Without You , being one of many I could name .

I am not a Morrisey fan but I quite liked the way he sung this. On the other hand, I wish he had not replaced some of the lyrics to more banal ones. I am OK with him changing 'Jagger' to 'David Johansen' but 'Point towards another phone' instead of the original 'Pour me out another phone' is not an improvement. Maybe he just did not know the correct lyrics because he made many changes that served no purpose.
@stuartwray617528 күн бұрын
'point' like 'pointed' is very emphatic, very Morrissey. I don't dispute what you're saying though.

Also threw me when he said "in David Johannsen's eyes and scored" - I mean, maybe Moz isn't the biggest Mick Jagger fan, but seriously does the lead singer of the New York Dolls come right up as the next best thing? 'Member he was also fucking Buster Poindexter in the 80s??
