Morrowind is the best thing ever. You start the game and you can't kill shit. You're slow. You don't have nice weapons or armour. Everyone kills you 1 hit. Yet somehow you are at the end of the game, look around you, remember when you started the game and you were a weakling, then look again at yourself and you see your character full equipped with powerful enchantments, all skills really high..... That game was the thing. By then you can levitate for an hour with incredible speed, cast fireballs with the power of a nuclear bomb and you don't remember how it used to feel missing every attack. :'). Best elder scrolls.

Basically what medieval battles were like. Soldiers carried a lot of equipment (armor and swords are heavy) and did a lot of marching, often under-fed and/or over fatigued and very often in harsh weather conditions on either the hot or cold spectrum, especially if they've been in a long campaign or have been fighting long and hard battles. It was mostly a matter of out tiring your opponent and whoever collapses first would lose. So Morrowind isn't entirely inaccurate from a realistic combat fatigue standpoint.

This weird combat system is THE only thing that keeps me from playing Morrowind for the first time in my life. Started several times, with and without mods... but Jesus Christ, this combat... I just can't. Not after Oblivion and Skyrim, where you ACTUALLY swing and hit with your weapon. - Dmitry, the Nerevarine. Killed by rat.
@boiledelephant3 жыл бұрын
It is profoundly unrealistic, but once you buy into the mechanic, make it past the dreadful first few encounters and start levelling up the skills you need, it's oddly compelling. Especially when you start to get things like hand-to-hand really high and can basically sucker-punch an NPC unconscious right out of the gate.
@plisskensstudio13063 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree. I'm like Skyrim and Oblivion too, but Morrowind with chance of hitting combat system feels very bad for me. I can understand chance hitting in turn-based combat systems, like in Divinity: Original Sin or Wasteland 3, but not in real-time RPG with first person view

This is basically what happens to people who don't realize accuracy drops by each percent lower than 50% stamina. Basically, 0% stamina = missing every attack.
@DoppSkates5 жыл бұрын
Thats... that's the point they're trying to make on the video.... they wasted their stamina running toward each other making their hits miss because the accuracy was lowered..
@henreyeraser34025 жыл бұрын
@Patrick G Actually, it's easy to have well over 50% stamina. Use heavy attacks over light ones when your target can survive a few light ones (you recover stamina when charging heavy attacks). Sprint only in small bursts, giving enough time to recover the lost stamina. There are more options to keep stamina high.
@henreyeraser34025 жыл бұрын

@@henreyeraser3402 sure, but it's also really easy to be at 0 if you get impatient and aren't expecting a fight.
@henreyeraser34025 жыл бұрын
@@MorganChaos Yeah, but if that happens just use potions/magic/enchants to restore stamina, or just walk around while waiting for stamina to regain a good bit. I always think of the last 50% as reserve stamina, and only use when absolutely necessary, like fleeing from high level mages, that I always forget about -_-
