Note: This video was originally recorded in late April and was delayed, originally, by preparations for the May Modathon, and then by an unexpected illness, so the audio is a tad out of date (obviously, the Modathon is well underway now). Newer videos, recorded since recovering from this latest bout of respiratory illness will be airing soon, though I am still dealing with complications from that viral infection - namely a swollen thyroid which has left me somewhat drained of energy and more tired than usual. Hopefully the swelling will do down soon, but regardless, I'll be attempting to get back to our longer format showcase videos by this weekend. For those that need it, you can find a mostly up-to-date list of 2024 Modathon mods here: forums.nexusmods.com/topic/13481169-the-2024-morrowind-may-modathon-month-modding-competition-celebrating-22-years-of-morrowind/

I don't really care about achievements in the sense that I want to show them off, but I do like them as a tool for knowing whether or not I have finished all the content or seen everything there is to see.

Achievements system is a great way to track the progress of your adventures in the game. Journal doesn't help with it that much

There's no point in playing games if the game isn't going to give me a fake trophy that says "you played the game"

Being honest I love trophies, the goofy ones! I used to care for them more until I discovered Skyrim mods and kicked Trophies in the Gonads! Ignore the fact I have 98% of the Starfield Achievements on Steam, I’ve just played the game a lot. Had to stop because the game was killing my computer

Am I the only one who could care less about trophies or achievements in video games? I spent almost 30 years without them....so to me it gets kind of annoying to have them pop up all the time.

I get the mentality, though in some cases it gives me a reason to go back and play a game. If Dishonored didn't have achievements, I wouldn't have replayed it so many times to try all the different endings. I recently bought Hitman Blood Money and haven't felt the need to replay it because there's no incentive to try different tactics when I've already got 0 notoriety in every level.

@@safebox36 True enough. I think my issue is all the basic, trophies. If there is a challenge, and or something one would not normally do......I could see it as a means to accomplish that said thing. Example would be a trophy....for starting the game. Why? But saving Shadow in FFVI....not many knew about that in the day. So running that clock out, and actually doing it. I can see that being something.

Trophies feel worthless when everyone gets them for just playing the game that exact way that it was intended to get those trophies. You didn't really achieve anything... You just played the game like everyone else!

But where's the Gamer Score? You can't have the true xbox 360 experience without getting 1000 points for doing a basic combo before returning the game to the video store.
