This was before the leak and security was still insanely strict, I wasn't even allowed to take a photo of the mural. Delivered there 3 times and haven't managed to get security to spill any details yet 😅

You would never know it’s there, it’s just an unmarked set of glass doors next to a Best Buy, looks like any other office building. Most of the writing for GTA VI is being done in their London studio as well, as Rupert Humphries operates from there along with a new writer they hired in 2021 called Roger Drew, and possibly Luke Turton. Sam Houser on the other hand, is always on vacation and rarely in the studio these days, and only operates when important business start to happen, such as marketing and other things (he still has a lot of influence on GTAVI). Living the dream, while Aaron Garbut and Rob Nelson fully manage the project.

Rockstar does this for marketing, the same way Disney does it too. Whenever a new Pixar or Disney movie comes out the general public dosent know who wrote it or directed it. This keeps brand integrity when people leave the studio so that people arent following the artists but the rather the company itself. I've known quite a few people who worked for Rockstar over the years. Apparently the work is very siloed and a lot of it not very interesting. I'm also told the pay and benefits are also decent and reasonably competitive, but not going to set the world on fire. Although I did hear that the infamous horse balls detail wasn't actually intended and it was a mechanic built for something else, but someone applied it to the horse and got legendary status in the company for it.

It's kind of... extremely pathetic how much work they want to do under some KGB/CIA style secrecy. They're making fucking video games, not military secrets, you don't hear these insane leaks from other companies or even just people actively wanting to find leaks, because other companies talk to their community. Before GTA V it didn't matter because they released games each years through multiple projets and they were ALL hits, so we didn't have to wait and/or want to find what was coming, the games would be insane anyway, but now Rockstar is disconnected with how things work in the 2020s. You cannot drop a game, milk it for 10 years with obvious intents at pushing micro-transactions super hard and say absolutely nothing, complete radio silence on what you're up to next. Just a simple ''yes we're working on the next GTA'' that would have been posted in 2018 or 2020 would have been enough for the community to calm down on trying to do crimes to find wtf is Rockstar doing.

Honestly, this is the best thing any company can do. If you already have a good reputation, so an audience. And you just release stuff and don't spoiler, everything will have an bigger impact when it actually is good. Also you can't really disappoint anyone because you never said something before that you for what ever reason can't deliver. And expecially for that type of game, it's the best choice. Instead of talking to the community directly about what they want. They rather just analyse what people just talk all around in media and then bring some GTA Online updates with that and see on statistics how much people want it. The only thing that forces them to open a mouth is they investors. The investors call. Because that is where the money comes in. And that's also the reason that a flop of GTA 6 would be fatal. They have to deliver. But they secret behavior allows them to test a lot of stuff without anyone knowing it, so no one is disappointed when no one knew it was existing. And when it comes to actual major releases, till this day they never really failed. They made quality products. GTA Online is just they side business while working on 6 or other projects we don't know.

what they did to that kid for hacking gta6 is inumane. it's a video game. nobody was physically hurt. so locking him up indefinitely is insane overkill. Fuck Rockstar for that. Maybe if they weren't so secretive and invested so much into security like this, they wouldn't have 'lost' 5m$usd. Open their doors a little, let people in, let people see just a glimpse, and maybe people bored with a decade-old game won't be prying the doors open with a crowbar.
