So while the hat definitely screams Raiden, the face and hair didn't. Also the end of 11 had Liu Kang taking to the great Kung Lao, so that's why I assumed it was him. But hey! He looks cool ether way, but I do see how it could be Raiden.

Yeah, they race-swapped Raiden for the new universe. But pointed hat + white and blue shirt + thunder above him when he faces Kung Lao = Raiden. Curious to see this mortal Raiden and his role in the story. Hopefully a more proactive one. Raiden was always one of the most powerful Mortal Kombat characters (arguably the most powerful one), but always held himself back due to his obsession with the Elder Gods.

@@edwarddaniels3886 they wouldn't release tekken 8 this year considering that street fighter is releasing this year and also a second fighting game does too(MK).and second of all,until august of this year tekken 8 will probably be in its alpha state which leaves room for a beta during autumn thus releasing in the first 3 months of the next year which is by the way their deadline(march 31st)

What I'm most intrigued for is to see Raiden in all this since now he's simple a mortal man, the god of thunder no more. But I'm happy to see them sticking with how 11 ended with time being reset under a new guiding hand (even going as far as to simply call it MK 1 committing to a new story with familiar yet unfamiliar characters.)

I'll be the first to admit i haven't played a fighting game in a long time. But this... this looks good. I'm sure most of what we saw was just cgi, but the return to crisp detail, simple but elegant character designs, and it being a fresh start lore wise for Mortal Kombat has me intrigued.
