I LOVE that Liu Kang is still a God. After rebooting the timeline again, he's Earthrealm's protector now, and Raiden seems to be chilling as a mortal (or as much as you can chill in MK...) so when Shang Tsung rolls up you KNOW the Fire God is gonna bring the whole squad on him!

I like the fact they're keeping Liu Kang as a god. It looks like they got rid of his lightning abilities though. He had lightning and fire abilities after becoming a god but it looks like they removed his lightning and replaced it with blue flames.

Low key I was kind of worried about it being another full reboot, which usually has a smaller roster or a focus on new characters that can be hit or miss. But with the ending it seems like it’s a continuation from the end of 11, and I’m really hopeful they’ll just have tweaked and redone classic characters over the new additions. At least, that’s what I prefer.

ScruFace, it's MK1 cuz Liu Kang restarted the timeline at the end of 11. He's the new God of the timeline and tried to create a time of piece now that most of the enemies have been dealt with, but Shang Tsung is a constant apparently

cause of story reasons and that Liu Kang hit the reset button, yes he still is a god, but here´s the thing: it seems Hanzo Hasashi´s tragedy did not happen in this timeline, meaning he didnt become Scorpion, he remained as Hanzo. Probably a gift from Liu Kang for Scorpion to help them in the final fight in MK11.

From what I understand/remember of 11, at the end Kronika had destroyed the universe, and Lu Kang was then imbued with the power of a God, and after beating her remade the world. This is now that remade world. Raiden is seemingly not a God now with Lu Kang as Protector of Earth Realm (or possibly even the one God), but the world plays out similarly to the last one- just without as much strife in the world to begin with.

As much as I'm excited for Street Fighter 6, I think I'm much more hyped for Mortal Kombat 1. I always liked it better than Street Fighter. Of course, I guess Street Fighter or Tekken have been more of a competitive game, but you can't beat the characters and lore of Mortal Kombat's universe. And obviously, nothing beats fatalities, finishers in other games just do not compare to the fun and absolute carnage Mortal Kombat can give you.
