I binged this game in like 7 hours. I actually really enjoy it. The story is fun and there's a perfect amount of comedy in it. The kombat isn't overdone and the rank system is great. The character roster too is AMAZING.

As a long time Mortal Kombat fan, this story was just fantastic. Loved the new directions they took each character and how they actually got to be fleshed out unlike other games. Everyone felt like they had valid motives for their actions and they all worked very well together. The ending felt a little rushed but it was hilarious seeing all the different combination characters and the funny names.

Fleshed out? I don't know personally I feel it leaves much to be desired. Not a MK fan so I don't know how the story compare to old games but we never really go much deeper with the majority of the cast. The main quartet is only there for like 1/3rd of the story, the royal drama was never resolved, Jerrod just show up and Sindel dies, thats it. It felt more like a continuation to MK11 than a reboot. Timeline bullshit is to high of a stake for a first entry in a reboot. Also most of the characters are just there not really doing anything to the story and could've been replaced with a random person and the story wouldn't have change, like Rain, Havik, Nitara, Reiko, etc. Reiko is just fine though, same for Li Mei and Tanya and only those 3.

I love that characters from the 3D era has gotten a chance to come back into the spotlight in the franchise. The hard reboot of the timeline also feels really refreshing and I hope liu kang ends up having a lot of character growth as he has to go through some of the struggles as raiden had to in order to protect earthrealm. Biggest wish though is for him to mess up and armagedon happening so I can see the carnage and maybe have the smash bros ultimate of the mortal kombat franchise.

loved it, been to my brothers place last couple days just playing Versus and the story. Had a few mates around today at his and we all finished the story, was the most fun I had playing games in a while! Doin an in home tournament loser passes and takes a swig, if you have friends and or family that like this kind of game even a little then I highly recommend getting it just to vs each other is a great experience. The maps were straight fire too and if you don't have anyone that likes these kinds of games then the story mode is still absolutely goated!

They are smooth. It's a huge improvement over 11. The speed and feel sits somewhere between 9 and X, but it's better than both of them. Plus the kameos are fun to experiment with since they can dramatically change your combo potential.

While I enjoyed most of the story and the idea of the final fight allowing you to choose any player, it felt like the story buckled under the weight of the multiverse problem where it’s harder to care when the the stakes are infinite and incomprehensible, That and the fact the story ended with an abrupt wrap up, sequel baiting, and some weirdly unaddressed plot points put a hindrance on what was largely a strong MK story that even gave depth to some neglected characters like Reptile. The Invasion mode has been pretty fun so far though! Curious to see how that develops. Overall, a solid entry.

The second they stepped into omnipotent god, “the one who possesses the hourglass” it was done for tbh. Also, the way it reboots every character sort of takes away from what made them so uniquely great. It’s no doubt cool to see the new iteration of the verse. But it also kinda takes a dump on how sensible the verse was as you said. But, this was the only way to “restart” the hype for the series tbh. It was essentially call of duty terms, where they hit the wall. And it’s either continue re-hashing the same shit or give it new life.

I think it was a smart move narratively, but it did cause an issue once they reintroduced the other timelines Prior to that though, I really dug some of the new character stuff they were doing. While some characters barely changed like Johnny, they gave a lot of notable side characters like Baraka, Reptile, Maleena, and a bunch of the returning forgotten characters more development outside of their more straight forward mainline counterparts. It’s just a shame they stopped doing that once the twist with real villain took over the story.

This game is kickass for the most part! Just kinda miss from mk11 when you could customize your fighter intro, and just create more of a build for each fighter 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, but it also kind of made everybody an all rounder. Atleast here we have more archetypes and some we've never seen before in a nrs game.

Intro and outro animations were so damn cool in mk11. Kinda sucks that they're pretty bad in this game. But on the bright side the gameplay is so so so so much better than 11
