Honestly, as a fan of classic Mortal Kombat games like Armageddon, Deception, and Shaolin Monks, this new MK1 is a complete disaster. It’s like they’ve thrown away everything that made the old games great-the deep roster, the brutal combat, and the storyline that actually made sense. Instead, we get this watered-down, soulless version that feels like it was made for casual players who’ve never touched a real MK game in their lives. They’re obsessed with making a complicated, shitty story with a bad ending and endless timelines. All the great characters are now weak-Raiden and Shao Khan look terrible. It’s clear they just want money, and they don’t care about the real fans. It’s painful to see how far the franchise has fallen. What a joke.

Honestly, ever since they introduced multiverse and time travelling in MK11 I almost certainly knew the franchise would go this downhill from then on. MK11 didn't have the best story mode of all but honestly I think they should have just ended the franchise in that game.

i totally agree with you, this multiverse timeline marvel crap isn't something needed in MK universe. MK1 kinda ruined what made MK great. MK was great and unique in its own path and they did pretty well after they remake mk9-10-11 and after that its just lame, like Shao Kahn has been nerf so badly that he looks like a regular fighter as compare to the monster we had back in klassic mk games. The most ridiculous boss in video game history Shao Kahn is now just a parody of himself.

NRS have forgotten the lads who brought them to the dance. Raiden is like an average guy doing a cosplay. The old Shao Kahn would use this version of Shao Kahn as a toothpick. All of the characters are watered down, bland versions of once create industry powerhouses.

-Why would Sub-Zero and Sektor confess to Cyrax right in the middle of battle? They could have killed her with a sneak attack while she was busy and THEN finish Kuai and Harumi. -Why do the characters hardly use their powers in cutscenes? This leads to some interesting martial arts animation at times, but it makes no sense at all. -Most of the fights in the expansion are against some random henchmen with no consequence to the plot. -WWII Johnny's jokes are too much and miss most of the time. -The way Rain died makes little sense; he could have moved closer to the door or, I don't know, turn himself into water, anything other than accepting his death so easily. -Havik could have intervened way faster, as soon as he saw Tanya communicate with the dragon even if he didn't know what they were saying. If the savage, starved dragon wasn't attacking something clearly had gone wrong already. -They really couldn't think of a better way to have Cyrax save Kuai than pushing him to avoid a fall, that doesn't even look that tall to begin with? -Noob gets beaten by Tanya, but then is perfectly capable of taking down the Kamidogu-powered Havik? And then he can be stopped like nothing by Geras, whose power was being absorbed moments before? The list goes on and on. I don't know man, MK has never been a golden standard for its story, but not even the base game's story mode had these kind of abysmal plot holes. At least we got Rain and Tanya doing something, and Sektor is already much more interesting than the punching bag he always was.

I approve of Havik being the big bad villian. Its fine, and refreshing. But as a lifelong Mk fan i do admit the alrernative timelines and character arcs, while at times compelling, are ultimately filler. Something is missing on a soul level from this title. I kept wondering why i was in no rush to get the game or even get a new system and i see why now. Something reeeeally missing in the spirit of this title. I may eventually check it out.
