Mortal Kombat 1 - NEW STORY DETAILS! Sub Zeros TRUE Identity! Mileena NEW Origin?! Kenshis Secret!?

Hello everyone!
Today with us all still coming off the buzz of the spectacular Gameplay reveal, during the early access that was given to journalist, content creator and higher level players, a bunch of extremely Interesting intros have rolled out and MY OH MY, have they revealed a lot of information about characters, the world building surrounding them and who Is the villain amongst the heroes!
Now please do keep In mind, this intros are only strictly between 4 characters currently, with them being Sub Zero, Liu Kang, Katana and Kenshi, so not too much Is to be disclosed here, but i think we do get enough here, to paint a picture of what’s going on with each of these individual characters, their place in this world and what could possibly happen with them going forward from this point!

In Jade’s MK9 bio, it said that her parents were Edenian nobility that served Shao Kahn and gave Jade to Shao Kahn as tribute. Then in MK11, Geras told Jade that her parents traded her for freedom, implying that Jade’s parents gave her to Shao Kahn to keep their noble status after he took over Edenia. Then Jade grew up with Kitana in Shao Kahn’s court. So Jade has always had a high social status in Edenia and Outworld, so it makes sense that she’s a countess.

And if we had to guess, she's probably already betrothed to Kotal, who is inherently Khan in this timeline's Outworld. I can't see Lui Kang allow someone like Shao to exist or at the very least hold a ruling position in his era of "peace". In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if Shao is Kotal's general this time.

I like the idea of Mileena's "disease". I mentioned before pretty much the same as you. Mileena has the Tarkatan "Gene" which will cause her to mutate into a Tarkatan-esque hybrid. Not a full blown Tarkatan as she will not have the Arm Blades. But this disease will cause her people to fear and bannish her which is what Kitana is trying to prevent and Mileena slowly loses her mind thinking everyone is against her! Hence the possible evil turn!

When I saw the clip of Kitana telling Mileena that they will have to keep her disease a secret a few weeks back I liked the idea because as far a we know in this new universe that Liu Kang has made he decided that Shao Kahn shouldn’t be apart of it as it was Shao Kahn who created all the trouble in the last timelines. So without Shao Kahn there is no one to create a clone of Kitana mixed with Tarkatan DNA 🧬 so this explanation for Mileena turning into the Edenian/Tarkatan hybrid is an excellent plot point.

Bi Han was the very first sub zero I played in sub zero mythologies in the 90’s. I respect his younger brothers version of sub zero. Who grew to be the main subzero and evolved into not only a grandmaster but a powerful and honorable warrior. But maaaaan Bi Han is the OG Sub Zero. He has that cocky arrogance of a kung Lao but the focused single minded ruthlessness of Hanzo Hasashi. Being a prodigy among the clan even above his younger brother. I wouldn’t be surprised if Frost tried to model herself after him hearing probably many tales of him and his accomplishments. Kuai Liang saw this and definitely saw her as a failure. Even if he didn’t become Noob Saibot their views on life would have eventually clashed. Even look at the cutscene of Liu Kang teleporting in Johnny’s home: Scorpian( Kuai Liang) immediately bows in humility and Sub zero just stands there.

Scorpion isn't confirmed to be Kuai Liang, it's just a fan speculation. The brothers can be three and perhaps scorpion is just adopted. I think this theory is the most logical one and compatible with Scorpion fire powers. He can't be a criomancer.

Kuai Liang being the new Scorpion makes no sense especially when this Scorpion is utilizing other Japanese weaponry like the Kusarigama. If anything I’m betting they decided to just make Hanzo an adopted brother that was raised with Bi-Han and Kuai Liang.

Kuai liang and bi han are half cryomancers (so they have edenian origins) and scorpion has fire powers. it's weird to make them siblings. So i truly hope to see those three together with smoke. He's not adopted. He's Bi Han's biological brother. They have the same parents. They are both Chinese. As for why Kuai Liang is using Japanese weapons? Remember that in the previous timelines, the Shirai Ryu, and therefore ninjutsu, was founded in the past by a rogue Lin Kuei who defected, and brought over their techniques. So it's entirely possible that, assuming this split never happened in this new universe, those weapons just stayed part of the Lin Kuei. Also? Not to put too fine a point on it, but literally the entire universe was rewritten from the dawn of time, so... yeah, I think an organization that recruits from all over the world who's entire concept is being rewritten from the ground up in a video game with magic and psychic powers can have a Chinese guy using a Japanese weapon.

I still think Scorpion is Hanzo. Brothers doesn't have to mean literal brothers related by blood but more as a metaphor for how close they might be. And considering the fact that the shira-ryu was founded by a member of the lin kuei who left the clan I think we'll see Hanzo leave the clan after realizing Bi-han and the others are against Liu Kang and start his own clan. Kuai Liang probably will be teased throughout the story but won't play that much of a significant part until Bi han dies or becomes Noob.

Cause they haven't said who Scorpion is at this point. If it was Hanzo why not just say it? It wouldn't be a big secret. Even if Hanzo isn't this Scorpion. It doesn't mean that he's not in the game. It's possible Hanzo was the original Scorpion. Before he met his wife and settled down. And he ends up becoming the mentor to Kuai Liang.

Can I just say that I love the new intro system? One of the biggest criticisms, especially for the MK11 intros was just how long they were. They clearly listened to fans in this case. Intros are short and sweet, with two lines instead of 3.

Scorpion and Sub-Zero being referred to as “brothers” doesn’t necessarily mean that they are related by blood. They could simply share a strong bond, similar to Kitana and Jade; and/or their fates have become interwoven, akin to Sektor and Cyrax. Hanzo and Bi Han have a lot in common, and it’s perfectly understandable for Liu to want two of his fiercest warriors to be on the same page, rather than falling prey to Quan Chi and eternally feuding.

"Brothers" in mk doesn't always mean blood related. Kuai Liang was Tundra before he took the subzero name. A press release says that Mileena is heir to outworld. Either Edenia conquered outworld or has an alliance with it. Where is Jarrod? I can't wait to dive into the new Story. I hope Mileena inherits Outworld, and Kitana gets Edenia. I won't lie, I find it hard to see Kuai Liang being Scorpion as well as Sub and Scoprion being brothers. Bi-Han and Kuai are cryomancers, a power that's genetically passed down and they're also Chinese. Scorpion/Hanzo wields fire powers and is Japanese. Yes, Ed Boon said they're brothers, but does that really mean blood brothers because it could also imply that Scorpion is adopted or he could also mean that they're brothers in arms, considering Scorpion is in the Lin Kuei here.

This is a reboot. Anything can happen. Kuai Liang learning to use fire isn't out of the realm of possibility. He could easily be born without the ability to use ice. Liu could've decided to give Hanzo a better life. Outside of this rivalry. It doesn't mean that he's never been Scorpion. But that once he met his wife that he found peace.

I have a feeling that Ermac, Sareena, Smoke, Cyrax, Sektor, maybe even Jade will be DLC this time. They are popular characters and fans will definitely buy them. I wouldn't mind that cause DLC is still better than Kameo IMHO. Criminally underrated and overlooked fighters like Ashrah, Nitara, Havik, Reiko, Kai, Mavado, Tanya should be in the base roster from the start!

i feel like with the whole “it’s in our blood” tagline, the theme of the game is going to be that liu kang changed the circumstances but he couldn’t change ppl’s “natures”, like mileena ends up being bitter towards kitana anyways, bi-han is still ruthless, keshi still goes blind(possibly due to overusing sento or something like that) and so on. I’m hoping for a plot where liu kang goes crazy realizing he can’t keep things peaceful cause the characters don’t actually want it lol

I have a theory over the SubZero/Scorpio relation in this game. I think Scorpio is Hanzo and Subzero is Bi Han. The twist is that the Lin Kuei and Shi Rai Ryu never split up. Blue isn’t the color of the clan, because smoke is grey and the cybers have their respective colors. This might be the retelling where we see the split of the Shi Rai Ryu.

Exactly. The original lin kuei had sub units with japanese fighters which is where the founder of the shirai ryu aka takeda came from. This scorpion is either Hanzo if he was brought up in the lin kuei because the split didn't happen or this could be takeda aka the founder of the shirai ryu and we get to see how he founded the shirai ryu.

I checked out the new story details for Mortal Kombat 1 Sub Zero's true identity It would seem that in the new Mortal Kombat game Bi Han was going to become villains again it is much possible because probably Bi Han is looking for Shinokin's amulet which he will give to Quan Chi at some point. I don''t know if it would be possible for Quan Chi to use the power of the amulet to get Bi Han and Hanzo Hasashi to go to war, killing his family and also Hanzo. That''s probably also why Liu Kang warns Bi Han about the power hidden in the Shinoki amulet so that it doesn''t fall into the wrong hands and history repeats itself. Liu Kang talks to Bi Han about the temple of the elements, could it possibly be the same as Shinokin's temple?

I don't think hanzo is replaced by kuai liang. If they did which i strongly believe they didn't will create a huge backlash from the fanbase. Replacing hanzo with kuai liang is like replacing clark kent with bruce Wayne and bruce Wayne becoming superman. It just doesn't work. As a Sub-zero fan I am concerned for my boy... Since the dawn of NRS he has constantly been getting done dirty, which leads me to believe there was another big Sub-Zero fan during the midway days, keeping him ( and liu kang) at the top where they belong. You can tell by how hard scorpion is riding liu kang's nuts in this trailer, as he bows to him when he enters the scene and how from the gameplay videos circulating out there, sub-zero has "smoke" with liu, meaning hes probably a bad guy. Now i dont mind bi-han being a bad guy (but for the record, he never was in previous games, before he became noob...which is also a hard character!) as long as they do him justice and not have scorpion k-word him or AT LEAST not by himself. Even the awful 2021 movie got it right and made it two vs one to have a chance against Sub-Zero. Sub-Zero has always been portrayed as the better fighter and a hero in the games up until the rebranding of the studio. In mythology, the original movies/shows/animated features and the games, hes always overall been a COLDER Kharacter!

This version may be different though, as from what I remember, Subzero does kill Scorpion in the game, but here he seems to be in alliance with him. I have a almost clear picture of Li kang's new era timeline that the dialogue was said during their combat. 1.) The Sub-Zero that is shown here is 100% OG Bi-han. And it seems he is following his original path like he did during MK Mythologies. 2.) Kenshi seems to have a new story paved for him in the Black Dragon organization station in Japan and we see he wants his ancestral sword from Johnny Cage that he purchased. 3.) Mileena appears in this new timeline as Kitana's older sister and is in line for succession from Sindel, but she has a rare disease that allows her to develop Tarkartian like teeth. Speaking of Kitana, she is Mileena's bodyguard and has taken on the same duties as Jade. 4.) Jade, is now a countess, and I believe that she is with Kotal in this new timeline since we know in her ending from MK11 she is a part of noble blood. 5.) Now some fans believe that scorpion, in this new era, is in fact Kuai Liang. The younger Sub-Zero but has now adopted the Scorpion mantle. The only logical explanation behind this is that Hanzo hasashi was never born and that the ShiRaiRyu were never created yet. 6.) Another possible theory could be about Kuai, is that they could be taking ideas from the animated movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Snow blind and that he would end up creating the shirai Ryu. 7.) One other thing is that Ed Boon could be probably taking different pieces of arcade endings from Mortal Kombat 11 and incorporating it into the new era that liu kang had created. For example in Kung Lao's ending, in both MK: Armageddon, 9 & 11, showed him taking over his ancestors place and becoming a legend. Jade's ending was some what Semi-cannon due to her becoming part of the Royal Court, Sub-Zero where where he and his brother were Co-grandmasters of the lin kuei. 8.) And finally, Kung Lao himself, which I believe him to be the great Kung Lao. The ancestor to Liu Kang and his descendant, that the fire god was training for after the events of Mortal Kombat 11 aftermath along side Raiden, former god of thunder & lightning, as the two had become the students to Liu Kang god fire & lightning.

Kitana: You aren't the first, Takahashi. Kitana was merely answering that she had battled other blind swordsman and was only referring to Kenshi by his family name. I believe that to be the case due to the subtitles and how they were written. If Kitana was referring to of Kenshi not being the first Takahashi she's met, it would of been written as "You aren't the first Takahashi" and not "You aren't the first, Takahashi". The punctuation being a comma, shows she was just saying that she has battled other blind swordsman.

Im actually glad, you brought up Kenshi and Shang Tsung's past.. also considering Kitana's and Kenshi's dialouge, im gonna assume that Sento is a another constant that Fire god Liu Kang designed but altered and that MK11's Kenshi is the blue spectral soul that fights with the current MK1 Kenshi's moveset. Jumping the gun on Bi Han being bad. Neutral character questioning the powers that be is my bet. 5:00 in the game itself, Liu Kang could be giving scorpion a task in which that’s his way of acknowledging the task, which bowing is a pretty customary thing to do for that particular thing in the franchise. He’s exclusively looking at Scorpion, not both. As for Kuai Liang, I’m gonna branch out and say he is Smoke, not Scorpion. Erasing Hanzo would be flat ignorant to do. Hardly anybody knows Smokes name to be Tomas Vrbada so it would be hella easy to rewrite Smoke than it would to rewrite Scorpion.

Yes! Mileena is CROWN PRINCESS this time, not a Kitana - Tarkatan creation from Shang Tsung's flesh pits. I'm sure I will cry a river when she reverts to her more recognizable form, but I will enjoy every minute of CROWN PRINCESS Mileena while I can. Your speculation on this iteration of Scorpion being Kuai Liang is sound, especially since this Sub Zero is confirmed as Bi Han and they are (blood) brothers under the Lin Kuei name. However, until Kuai Liang receives the Sub Zero mantle in the story, or we are officially told otherwise, I will stick with Hanzo Hasashi as our Scorpion showcased in the trailers thus far. I am certain Kuai Liang and Hanzo will both be crucial to this timeline, especially considering their roles in peace negotiations to end the centuries long feud between their clans in MKX and MK11. I forget sometimes that Edenians, like elves in many fantasy novel universes, are blessed with incredibly long lives. Liu Kang's new status as a god, complete with immortality, now gives him a somewhat level field to court Kitana on. It is fitting to wonder how long this iteration of Kitana has known him though. Like Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, Kitana and Liu Kang are one of the classic romance dynamics in the MK series over the 30+ years it has been here. It would break the collective fandom's heart to see it not return soon. Kenshi fighting in an alternate form with his sight... and going blind later... opens the way for an interesting story point. Shang Tsung MUST be involved as that is how our original Kenshi Takahashi went blind in the search for Sento. "It didn't help that you had a snake hissing in your ear.", says Kenshi to Kitana. Yes, it is likely Bi Han is destined to become villainous during story mode, but especially with the fire snake intro in MK11, I will never associate snakes with anyone other than Shang Tsung when talking Mortal Kombat.
