Going off what Liu Kang was saying in this trailer, it seems to me that he's saying, "look, I've created this new universe and timeline, now I'm leaving your choices to you, you can have rivalries, live in peace, the choice is yours. Just know, if you make too many wrong choices, I'll be there to fuck you up." In other words, there's no more do overs, your choices are yours to make and the ramifications are permanent.
