I don't know if this ending has potencial for more story. Shang Tsung is too overpowered. Now a sequel to Liu Kang's ending can potencially explore the story before the first tournament, since we finally get to see the Great Kung Lao in a game.

Ed Boon once said he'd like to do a "Mortal Kombat 0" that would show the events of the very first tournament that started everything. Lui Kang's ending sets this up so I think it's more likely that ending is canon. Still it'd be interesting if Shang Tsung's ending was canon. Maybe a plot to overthrow him in the next game.

I’m thinking that it would be a spin-off game, like a single game where it shows the first tournament, and then all the mainline games would be in the Shang Tsung timeline because of liu Kang can control time, then there aren’t threats to fight in the next game (unless it’s like another titan)

That would be cool. I can see it go either way. Shang Tsung controlling time and Lui Kang returns to defeat him, or building a new story from the very beginning. I would love a game that shows the first tournament regardless. Or if the bad ending is not canon then that story can be Shaolin Monks 2.

@@2_screwz_loose984 With Liu Kang in control there will still be threats, it'll be more of the same more or less because he's allowing free will as opposed to the say Shang Tsung who pretty much enslaved everyone to do his will. That's why he told the Great Kung Lao that he needed to train and prepare for things to come.

I agree with you Matt. Shang Tsung ending is teasing the last 2 realms that never got shown in the new HD universe of mortal kombat. We always see Earth , Outworld and Hell (Netherrealm). Last time we saw the Order realm and Chaosrealm was in the open world story MK Deception on PS2. In the beginning of Aftermath Shang Tsung sent Geras to the Chaosrealm so hopefully thats a sign.

If Netherrealm makes a Mortal Kombat 12, it’ll either be another reboot set in a different timeline or somehow a continuation of Mortal Kombat 11 after Liu Kang’s ending or Shang Tsung’s ending

Suppose they establish a multiverse where in one timeline Liu Kang's ending came true and in the other it's Shang Tsung's. A future idea could be the two clashing each other via another time anomaly.

They already did that in Armaggedon, the idea was good but actually not that much (Personal Opinion), anyway they will probably reset and create a new timeline obviously with Liu Kang ending, suposedly in this timeline The Great Kung Lao will defeat Goro changing absolutely everything, we will see it like 3 or 4 years later so

Well, what if both endings are canon? Here me out since were dealing with timelines you could have Liu Kang in the main universe only to have Shang Tsung try and invade that universe or have Chaos and Order realm seek out Liu Kang for help by jumping between timelines. Gives us a reason to bring back Havik and Hotaru

It is very satisfactory for some reason that Shang Tsung is the villain or the final problem for another occasion, it seems to me a very well worked villain and his End is splendid and terrifying, since it leaves you thinking of what would have happened if our heroes did not succeed : c Hi from Perú, I love you Guys.

I think this was meant to be Shang's swan song. The first boss of all MK was the one to crush the last boss of this era. Because of Aftermath, Liu Kang didn't truly defeat a Titan, Shang did. That left Liu to defeat him again as in the first game. There's a poetic, full circle finality to this that Liu's ending sets up a reboot. We begin all over again with Great Kung Lao, but now that Shang's gone, Earth's first Mortal Kombat will probably feature a brand new boss for him to defeat.

I think this ending has to be canon. Logistically, Shang had aquired all kinds of magic against Liu Kang. So I think this will be the next premise of mk12. Good video guys!

Plot twist: Both Shang Tsung and Liu Kang endings are canon, and both have gone their seperate timelines. Eventually, characters from both timelines will meet and there will be a time war

*That* felt like the more interesting one? To me it left very little intrigue. Shang's doing the same Shao Khan thing of conquering all realms, and then sitting on a chair in the middle of space laughing. That's his goal and they laid it all out on the table. The reason the Liu Kang one felt more interesting to me is that it opens up room for a lot more new characters, puts Liu Kang in Raiden's role instead of the hero role, and they have left the door wide open for *any* kind of villain or conflict. His ending revealed a "who", but not really a "what", so we can still see new faces, new places, and new concepts of evil. I think Shang's ending appeals to Matty more specifically because it's actually a step back into a more familiar nostalgic territory, but is also more predictable than you'd think.
