This one actually had a much larger budget than the first one. The problem was that Ed Boon pressed for a second movie because he was trying to promote MK4. The main problem was that they wrote a script, but the script was so bad no one wanted to come back outside of a few actors. So, with no time to get a new script and everyone leaving the project, the movie guys just promoted whoever remained, so the guy who did Principal photography became Director. So you had a bunch of inexperienced people being given the top positions, in a position where they were being rushed out to bring a film into being. The end result was this.

When I was a kid my parents found a wallet that belonged to the actor who played Shoa Kahn. We returned it to his address and he welcomed us into his home and showed us a sneak peak of his new movie Mortal Kombat Annihilation. He showed us how he killed Johnny Cage, it was still in the early stages because the background was green screened. He had like three baby pigs running around his home, and he gave us posters with his signature written on them. I was and still am a HUGE MK fan, so by the time we left I could not believe what we got to experience.
