I know its more work, but I like the longer format more. 20-30 minutes is wheres its it. Enjoy this format too, though. TY for the content.

Actually it's not that much more work doing the longer ones, it's about the same. I just know a lot of people in general tend to watch videos that are 10-15 minutes and skip longer ones. Looks like the opposite is happening with this one though, lol.

Great thorough comparison between these versions. If the Super NES port had responsive controls, I would take it over the Genesis port, even with the censorship.
@InglebardGaming3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, if all things remained equal but the SNES version played better, I'd probably have to give it the nod, even without the fatalities. If I end up doing MK 2 or 3 down the road, I hate to spoil things but the Genesis wouldn't win those, lol.

@@InglebardGamingthe Genesis has a chance to win a UMK3 comparison against the SNES, because four backgrounds are missing in the SNES port. But when it comes to MK2 and the normal MK3, the SNES has the superior versions in all regards.

It's not you, it stops for 15 seconds there. I had to cut it out because of a copyright claim after this was uploaded. Yes, for FIFTEEN seconds, ridiculous. It only cut out like 2 words.

@@InglebardGaming wow, KZbin really should ease up on copyright stuff, I mean I remember times when people who made the music would post something and it would get a copy right strike even though they made the piece lol. Keep up the good work on these videos though!

Thanks, appreciate it! And yeah, some of this content ID stuff is ridiculous garbage. I mean, c'mon... 15 seconds! Do they think 15 seconds of the 'Victory' music in this video is going to stop anyone from buying the album or song? Can you do an updated version of the SNES VS GENESIS now that the "Hacked Genesis Arcade" version is now out?
@InglebardGaming3 жыл бұрын
I'll probably cover it in some fashion, but likely not a complete game comparison. Haven't fully decided exactly how yet, but I'm planning to cover more hacks in general going forward.
@greensun13342 жыл бұрын
Without about 0,2 seconds input-delay (vs. about 0,1 on MD/Gen.) and a blood-code, the SNES-port would be a really good 16bit-MK. In MK2 you see what's possible, it's a great game with almost all the content from the arcade!
@InglebardGaming2 жыл бұрын
It feels like the input delay in the SNES version is even more severe than that. On the plus side it looks great. On the minus side, it'd need improved music, the input delay fixed and some of the AI and gameplay tweaked. When it comes to MK II, yeah, I'm with you, the SNES version is more refined and overall the better version. I plan to eventually cover that one, too!

I actually really love the Genesis version of the theme for Goro's Lair, however I will admit it's an odd pick considering it's a redux of the arcade's game over music (as you stated). It's a very droning and ambient tune that isn't very fitting for a fight between ninjas and monks throwing ice, fire, spears, and flying kicks at one another. If anything it would have been more fitting for The Pit, but still not upbeat enough for a fight song.

No you don’t; you prefer Kano and Sonyas fatalities. Please don’t lie about these kinds of things because you really could have put a lot of people’s lives in danger by being dishonest like that. I don’t mean to yell at you, but please, you can’t be so careless like that.

The Genesis was missing the bodies at the bottom of the pit for the same reason the SNES was, censorship. They could have probably programmed the bodies in, but then they would have to have modified them to appear only while the Blood was activated. The Sega CD version has the bodies at the bottom of the pit. As you may already know, the SCD version was not censored. All the blood was accessible from the power up of the console.
@InglebardGaming3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I originally mentioned the bodies were in the Sega CD version but I cut that line from the video for time. Anyway, It would have been trivial to enable them in 'blood' mode. I chalk it up to Probe's lack of skill, compression knowledge, or time.
@greensun1334 Жыл бұрын
It's still far from complete in Sega CD. Let's say there are about the half of the arcade's bodys and decapitated heads on the bottom of the pit.

Say what you want, the SEGA-version is my thing. Nice intro-music, creepy feeling all the time, blood, fatalities, even the secret code itself is kinda salt in the soup. Punching the sweat out of your enemies in the SNES-version is dumb. The only credit I give the SNES-verson is, that they invented there a really cool fatality for Sub-Zero, which found its way to MK 2. But all in all: If you have MK 1 and MK 2 on Mega Drive, you get both: the ripped out spine and the total-freeze-crusher. 30 years later all that seem to play no role, since we dont have to defend the console we could afford back then. But the SEGA-version gave me goosebumps in the 90s, it was scary. When I had the SNES-verson later, it gave me only frustration, because it was such a broken mess.

Super NES looks much better than the Genesis version. The Genesis version has blood and good controls. 😎
@inceptional3 жыл бұрын
Look, the SNES version actually looks better for the most part to my eyes and absolutely animates better basically entirely (every single character has way more and smoother animation frames), but the Genesis version has all the all-important blood and gore, and it runs faster and controls much better too, so I have to give this to the Genesis. As a SNES fanboy, it hurts just as much as it did back in the day to have to admit and accept that truth. One thing you neglected, however, was the fact the game must be a bit gimped on Genesis with that default 3 action button controller vs the SNES with its default 6 action buttons. And, yes, you can go out and pay extra for a 6 button Genesis pad in order for the game to play a bit closer to the arcade--just as you can go out and pay extra to get this controller for the SNES: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4O4fq2tbJV_rMk But I understand that no matter what you do, the SNES version still plays like a turd. Just want to make sure the limitation of the pad that the vast majority of Genesis owners had to play this game with was basically crap, yet every single SNES owner could play Mortal Kombat basically properly out the box on SNES.
@InglebardGaming3 жыл бұрын
It's true the Genesis didn't initially include a 6 button controller, it came out around the same time as MK. But it did come with future revisions of the system. But yeah, I agree it kinda sucks on a 3 button pad. Never really played it that way except for testing since we for two six button pads when this originally came out and I never went back to 3 button 😁 Even so... the gameplay is so bad on SNES I think I'd still rather play on a 3 button Genesis pad.
