At first I thought it was a paradox that Liu Kang told Raiden about Smash Bros, as originally it was a guilty secret pleasure for him that Raiden fought out about later....Then I realized this encounter surely took place after MK2, before the time merger that brought everyone to MK 11, so in actually we're now seeing the logical conclusion with the proper timeline. With Raiden perhaps learning about the game from Cassie first and that Liu Kang is a gamer from Cassie at will. Adding unto this, Ulitmate didn't come out for a few years so the game that Liu Kang was playing at present would be either the original, melee, brawl, or 4(Not sure where the events of MK2 match up to real life) So it's possible that it be a different game as well. I'm probably putting way too much thought into this but hey if it inspires something then there you go.
