I have thought of a way you could survey. Ask the diaspora? They are easier to contact in an unbiased way, unbiased in that it fixes the problem of worst areas being hardest to connect. Ask how many people they know have died, how many recently confirmed alive, and how many unknown. If you include only family, then "how well do you know them?" is quantifiable and you could check the data by comparing survival of mothers vs aunts, cousins vs siblings, etc. (same generation and different level of relatedness). Biggest problem might be selection bias, but that's not insurmountable if you track response rate and compare siblings vs cousins, etc. You could also get some info on cause of death. It would not be very accurate, but might be worth a try to get some idea of the magnitude.

thank you for this very good and informative conversation. i think that any honest discussion of the quantities involved in the gazacide should first begin with an acknowledgement that the only factual statement is that countless people were killed, many more inflicted with life changing injuries and levels of trauma. yes, specific numbers can help to point out the urgency, everyone should focus on the qualities of life and death involved. nobody should have to live through such horrors, ever, and for no reason, much less for the profits of killingry industries. many thanks for your very important work🙏

I’m a little unclear. I heard you tiptoe around the combatant count . How many of the dead were fighters?
