I would really like to make some noise for the Gothic Remake which is also set to come out this year. If you like dark, gritty RPGs, then this might be right up your alley. As a fan of the 2001 original i think it looks very promising and i kinda hope that this time it gets more attention outside of just Germany and eastern Europe 😅

Agreed. Thus far the remake looks *really* promising. I grew up with the original. If any of you guys like a great medieval fantasy RPG but are tired of empty, humungous open worlds, then Gothic is for you! It's tightly packed, super immersive and has a fantastic setting

Same slay the spire is my most played game on switch, and its not even close. I got a steam deck recently and bought it for pc now since i wont be bringing my switch with me much when im not home. Im so excited for the 2nd one. Been playing balatro and a few other deck builders but literally none hit the same as slay the spire.

What's wild is that job postings at Obsidian suggest a new 3rd title is in the works aswell. But in all honesty, both these games have been IN development for 5 years and use pre-made high level tools Microsoft offer. These are not the next gen revolutionary engine breaking AAA Games they're working on.

Obsidian has grown significantly since joining Xbox. The OuterWorld’s development team is a completely different team than the Avowed team. Obsidian also has much more resources and access to better equipment since joining Xbox Game Studios. For example, they can use the Coalition to help with their optimization and UE5 knowledge.

Also, it might convince other youtubers to take more notice of Trese Brothers. I've never played a Mafia game, but it looks different and interesting. I'm excited about Ghost of Yotei as well, even though it doesn't have a final release date yet, and several other games. Each year there's usually only one game I'm really excited about, this year there are quite a few... might be an expensive year! 😅

The Wayward Realms is aiming to enter early access in late 2025 and the full release isn't coming anytime soon. Though it's really exciting to see the insane ambition of Daggerfall finally making a comeback in the 21st century! This year the most ambitious title will probably be Crimson Desert, but we'll see.

God, The Wayward Realms. I remember being in a discord for that project back when it was first starting. It was very much a community aided project with the community coming up with suggestions, concept art, etc. Occasionally Ted would drop some riddle about planned lore or something and the community would try and decode it. It was a fun time, I stopped keeping up with it after a while though just due to getting interested in actual things that were releasing.

Outer Worlds 2 is one I'm really looking forward to myself... I genuinely loved TOW (the original one, not the messed up Spacer's Choice edition), the base game was very fun, I enjoyed the story, the characters... only thing missing for me was a meaningful way to customize my ship, and I really hope TOW2 will give us that finally. Murder on Eridani was also an outstanding narrative DLC experience, I really enjoyed not just the cool visuals, the great humour reminiscient of movies of the past that dealt with murder mysteries at a luxury hotel, but I especially enjoyed that the murder actually was a mystery for a good long while, and you really got to meet some very bizarre (in a good way) characters along the way. Here's hoping we'll be getting more of that narrative-focused goodness with the sequel!

I bought it immediately when it dropped back then, and it was released in such an abysmally bad technical state that I instantly requested the refund... especially as the SC edition doesn't really seem to add anything meaningful to an already amazing experience. Would you disagree on that last point, have I missed anything of consequence? =)

SO much good stuff coming this year. KC 2 on the 4th and both Bloom&Rage (from the original Life is Strange devs) and Avowed on the 18th is absolutely crazy crowded, pretty much frontloading my most anticipated games.

Correction: Wayward Realms is supposed to release in Early Access by the end of 2025. Its supposed to be both an EA (for feedback from the players) as well as a proof of concept for further funding - so definitely not full release (as I understand)

Some more games worth keeping an eye on: Eternal Strands - A neat looking action-adventure game coming out 28/1 Mark of the Deep - A top-down pirate action-adventure/metroidvania game coming out this month (supposedly) Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - A sequel to a pretty good narrative-rpg coming out 31/1. Dragonkin: The Banished - A diablo-like ARPG coming out in February. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii - a spinoff of the main series which looks neat, coming out 20/2. Ai Limit - A chinese post-apoc souls-like coming out 27/3 (same day as Khazan)

I'm hopeful about Wayward Realms, because it is an ambitious project. No idea how that's going to turn out. Abomination Vaults is also interesting, because there is a lot of content to be found in the published Adventure Path. I can see how this content could work as an ARPG, because what's there is very combat oriented and it is a mega dungeon complete with traps, curiosities, a variety of different environments, lots and lots of monsters, and a good amount of bosses.

I'm only really excited about a few of these, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, maybe Pathfinder, Doom, all things Owlcat of course. Currently only have time to spend on one game, and it's Once Human, which is scratching most of my itches, even roleplaying oddly enough. And, as a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do, will no doubt have to spend some time later this month on D4 S7 with the Mrs, as we almost exclusively play that together, for better or for worse (PoE2 is of no interest currently, maybe when it's out and fully patched, eh). Also, this title really piqued my interest, being a sucker for all things spacey: Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector - actually surprised it's not on your list.

MENACE is the one game I've let myself have true, full on, no limits hype for -- tis the first time in many years since have had such excitement for a game. Almost feeling like how I did when was a kid towards MENACE haha. With the masterpiece that is BB, I have great hopes and strong trust in Overhype studios to present another grand, well crafted, & keenly hones vision & experience for all to partake in. Very glad to see it on your list : ) have my reservations about it, but IF Avowed turns out to be what I am (OPEN FOR - not expecting of), well, that will be a wonderful treat as well. (rather than holding expectations, nowadays I prefer to operate by just being open to whatever any given experience/game/etc has to offer; to intake whatever vision/experience was made by another... I find this approach to be far less "negative" vs. having (often unrealistic / absurdly high) expectations of something). Prime example would be Cyberpunk. So many had allllll these intense expectations of it, which set them up to be disappointed. But being open, and neutrally intaking what was presented, well, changes ones feelings entirely. On release, for me, Cyberpunk was this sort of, "interactive badass action movie" set in a cyberpunk setting. So I had a ton of fun when it first came out! Beat it + 120hours... Tho, actually need to go back and play that again, haven't touched it since the release year, and has only improved greatly, so I've heard. Point being, ones perspective/approach is a very important/key thing to all aspects of life, aha. Anyways. You pump out content so quick! Really cool, as you serve very entertaining / intriguing stuff. Keep it up, don't burn out, ride the passion. Stay Well : )

Clair Obscur and New Arc Line have my attention. I loved the setting of New Arc Line, I hope they can deliver an amazing game. I'm curious about Clair Obscur. While not a Jrpg (it is made by ex Unisoft Devs), it looks like a modern Final Fantasy while having the battle system of older Final Fantasies. Plus, Clive's VA is in it and he did an amazing job in XVI imo.

I’d really recommend you try and review Witchfire if it enters 1.0 in 2025! Your review was one of the ones that made me take a chance on the early access, and over 100 hours in I was not disappointed! The Destiny gunplay set in a grim dark fantasy setting was genius, The fusion of genres is a match made in heaven, and it’s right up your alley of kill everything feel like a God shooters!

Citizen sleeper 2 releases Jan 31, 2025 Not your usual genre, I know, but Citizen Sleeper was so good, I figured I would mention it. I would definitely recommend checking CS1 out if you haven't. The game is so much more than it's simplistic presentation.

Lets gooo new arc line ❤Been playing most of those early access titles. No rest for the wicked is straight eyecandy. Enshrouded is in good hands, and you can tell they're putting a lot of love into it. Cyberknights is just fantastic. Tainted grail is beautiful, and gives me that oblivion fix. And I personally love the combat in greedfall 2. Its gonna be a good year.

Having run the underlying Abomination Vaults adventure as a DM, I'm really interested to see how they translate the story as an ARPG. It's a great TTRPG module, if you like dedicated dungeon crawls. And I could see the ARPG play loop fitting with that well.

Really looking forward to Outward 2. I really enjoyed the first one as a real zero-to-hero journey, with all the mundanity bits that most RPGs leave out. If anything, my only qualm about that game is that it was too small, and there was too little to do, and hopefully a sequal will have greater depth to engage with.

I enjoy monster hunter a lot. But getting 100 percent achievements in the modern game from what I have gathered is a huge challenge. You have to get the smallest and largest specimen of a select number of monsters, hunt and kill them that is. And each monsters size is randomised.

Curious to know if Lost Soul Aside is anywhere on your radar? Character action game with Devil May Cry type influences and an MC explicitly inspired by Noctis’s design from FFXV (which is funny now in a post FFXVI world where the MC again looks Noctis like and Square literally brought in a former Capcom/DMC dev to design the combat). It was originally being made by 1 guy and visually blew people away, and later the scope of the project expanded when it was picked up by Sony’s China Hero Project. If Clair Obscur is my MOST anticipated game, Lost Soul Aside is definitely my LONGEST anticipated since it was announced in… summer 2016. But a few weeks ago, a new trailer stated PC/PS5 for 2025!

Why not? I can absolutely see them both releasing. Avowed's already been delayed and it'd be good for Obsidian to get The Outer Worlds 2 out on time without a delay.

@@obtusemooose I understand but I am talking from MS 1st party release slate perspective, Avowed got delayed from late-2024 to early-2025 just because of that, to give it a breathing space and not get overshadowed by Indiana. In 2025 MS got Avowed, Doom, South of Midnight, CoD and maybe ForzaHorizon 6. That's already a stacked 1st party schedule. Then there's Fable, Clockwork & rumored Oblivion Remaster. And people are also forgetting the biggest elephant: GTA VI which might release in holidays 2025. So yea, shifting some games from late 2025 to early & mid 2026 is more likely.

Any plans on reviewing the Trails in the Sky remake? If you like anime and JRPGs the series is overall fantastic both in gameplay and storytelling. (pacing issues aside)

Not gonna lie, I'm worried about the new Fable, I really liked the dog in 2 and I'm worried that the sim dna that was in the original games will be missing in the reboot, but most of all I'm scared that the game will just be another open world action game.
