If you combine the party expansion mod with a mod called “sit this one out”, you can make it so that every time combat starts, whichever companions are set to “sit out” are immediately turned invisible and not considered in combat. They don’t even get to take a turn and no enemy will target them. Pairs perfectly! It might only be on nexus though

While the bigger party mod messes with balance there are also additional mods that make it so the extra party members get "benched" when battles start and reappear right after, or at least there were last time I played.

Ooh, may have to look into that when I eventually replay BG3. Being able to see all the banter without breaking the balance would be great, though having an army marching around would make pathfinding and traps hell, so would still have to somewhat limit the traveling party size.

A solid 75 percent of my modlist is just "new gear" and randomizing that gear out into the world. In my opinion one of bg3 biggest strengths and weaknesses was all the gear being in the same place every playthrough. On one hand, great if you have a super specific build in mind. On the other, kinda boring, no real sense of awe at looting. Now I can have the usual set spawns of vanilla with lots of extra interesting stuff from chest\enemies/ect.

@MrTreesusChrist-s5d7 сағат бұрын
@@christopher1098 Absolutely! The ancient jewelry/weapons/cloaks/armory mods along with REL (randomized equipment loot) and random starting gear all by Paramonov95 are a great baseline. Tons of new items, lots have pretty interesting effects. Theres also the JWL line of mods by UmbralJewels that add some new vendor-type items for gold, and some neat equipable passive items. Kharneth makes some really nice weapon set mods that greatly expand options for dex related builds, so if thats your cup of tea its good to check out, and lastly theres GraphicFade who has alot of class specific item packs that get distributed through the world. Most of these are easy plug and play if your using the nexus mod manager, the only ones that can be fussy are the JWL ones but usually its just a load order issue. Check the post if theres issues, usually can find a fix there.

The Devil You Gnome is absolutely hilarious, I'm gonna download that right now. I also used a larger party mod for my first playthrough, but instead of doing what I normally do with a Larian game and play it on Easy to get to grips with the system and enjoy the story, then go back for Honour mode once I feel more confident, usually with an extra challenge on top, like "no elemental magic" or "no ranged attacks," I just straight up started on Honour mode. I just knew I was gonna spend so much time playing the game that I didn't want to miss out on character banter and then feel like I have to replay it, get tired, and drop the second one halfway through. Even with an oversized party, some of those encounters are *tough*, especially if you miss a few details like I did, or chose to not do things that give you an advantage like setting the spiders free in the goblin camp. You can see most encounters coming, but there are quite a few surprises that wiped me, especially in the Underdark.

A dynamic party limit would be kinda cool for Larians next game. Depending on what location you are in or what "mission" you do, the party limit increases or decreases. In small spaces or during more personal quests you would have a smaller Party and in those big places or during "potentially world ending" quests you would have a bigger party and get to fight a huge battle.

My favorite mod so far in BG3 tends to be a favorite in many games - transmog. I have a tough time a lot with modded equipment, because it tends to either be worse than what I have, or entirely broken beyond belief (and the rare occasions where it IS balanced, it just isn't what I'm looking for). So I love being able to take a piece of in-game equipment that I like the stats of, but make it look like something I really like.

I've been playing an origin run where I play as Wyll in a six man party with the other origin characters. The mod to turn initiative into a d20 roll and a mod to slightly increase enemy health helps even the playing field. Especially since the d20 initiative rolls means you will get shared initiative far less often (which otherwise, is extremely strong when running squad deep).

Yeah, when I began the game I started almost obsessively stressing over who I should have in my party for which parts of the map, or who to bring for specific quests, because I didn't want to miss any (Sometimes really quite important) dialogue. This mod was a godsend that single-handedly increased my enjoyment of the game multiple times over. I just cranked the difficulty up a chunk from what I'd usually play on to make up for it, but as someone else said, there are other mods to address the balance to account for having a larger party if folk are concerned about that.

I feel like not accounting for the rest of the party in the final battle is a flaw in the base game. I feel like they should be there when you meet your allies before the very end. Then they could either use them as allies in the battle, or there could be some kind of situation where they need to run off and do something/fight someone to buy you time. It wouldn't have taken much work, I would think, but it would have made more sense than leaving them behind in camp.

There should be a mod where everybody in the game is bald as a homage to the series' long running nick name of BALDIES GATE!!! RIP Minsc...! That being said I would definitely love a comprehensive mod that would allow you to have 6 party members and the difficulty of the game accommodate these changes by reinforcing enemy encounters. However, it has to be more than a generic addition of NPCs into a group, tasteful considerations have to be made where it actually would make sense to have increased numbers in a group and the builds of the characters actually fit into the group in a sensible way. This means that not every encounter will have additional NPCs added to their party. For example: a trio of ragtag gnomes will remain a trio since their situation does not account for inclusion of a larger group. This will make the challenges uneven with difficulty spikes but that's part of the charm.

Fireproof Karlach. It's minor but just makes so much sense given her backstory that it seems like an oversight that it wasn't part of the base game (though I realize making a character completely immune to a fairly common type of damage by default could present balance issues) A couple of weightless mods - the inventory system in this game is a nightmare and having to deal with it AND encumbrance is just too much micromanagement. Polyamory mod: Might as well lean into the whole "horniest AAA game on the market" vibe.

Makes you experience a game in a new way, as each playthrough at least in terms of exploration feels almost like the first time. Class and subclass mods are also neet, I like Mind Weaver, Mystic, Dragon Tamer and College Of Dance Bard. I've been working on my own class mod, but it takes a lot of time and effort especially with me not being experienced in programming at all. But hopefully I am onto something really cool and will finish my mod. Customization in terms of camp clothes which doesn't give you extra buffs, but just lets you play with the look of your character is also great.

I assume ultimately you will have to not go overboard with the meta gaming even with making the game much harder.
