Күн бұрын

I recently purchased this relatively complete 1960 Cadillac Sedan DeVille from a gentleman who responded to a want ad I had placed. He said he heard it run when he purchased it as a project "several" years ago. Let's see if we can get this 390 Caddy V8 to fire up once again! If you're interested in the complete car with a title in the as shown condition it can be purchased for $3,500. If you would like to purchase the car as a roller and we keep the engine and transmission you can take this flattop home to your garage for only $1,500! As always, thanks for watching!

Great video as always. Personally, I like the '60 tailfins better than the '59. A definite shame about the extensive rust. Thanks for showing the ice storm damage. Most folks have not experienced this type of challenge of being in a rural area. Hope your power gets "restored" soon so you can get more restorations going. Farewell and stay warm this winter.

Your not going to hurt the generator under a load for extended periods, but you will consume a lot more fuel. Most generators have a breaker you need to reset if you draw too much current anyway. Thanks for the Vid Brother, enjoyed it and that motor does sound good!

Yup, you always know when you see a previous "master" mechanic's custom exhaust work, like that, your best friend is gonna be a reciprocating saw or cutting torch. Best to just cut all of it off and start over.....Cause, there is no way you can match or compete with their next level work and creativity. That classic has multiple examples of a True Master of Advanced-Monkey Engineering. Best to cut it all off, so you won't look bad next to their work? Not to mention the high quality of the previous electrical wiring modifications and custom metal fabricated tow hitch assembly. Haha! My brain lacks the proper words to describe what you showed us....

Cool old Caddy! I remember back in the late '70s one of my favorite pastimes was walking through old auto salvage yards, and I found a '61Coupe DeVille that was that same color (they called it Fontana Rose that year). It was in great condition (of course, it wasn't that old back then!), just needed a radiator and alternator (first year) to be complete. The guy running the yard wanted $150 for the car as it sat. Alas, I was a broke college student then, and the next time I visited the salvage yard, the car had been crushed...

You should get a "screaming Jimmy" type diesel generator for the shop. There should be plenty of them around. One of my former employers has like 2 of these Cadillacs. I think the reason why they become so neglected is people find money to buy them. Yet have no money to maintain them and that exhaust job proves it. Having no power in a rural area is no fun, ask me how I know.

Duff's been trying to tell ya that it's called a Vista Roof.... Now give him a piece of beef jerky 🤣 Wow... That one is totally FULL HOUSE. It's got absolutely every option that Cadillac offered in 1960, including the power vent windows. That color was called "Persian Sand". The other "pink" in 1960 was called Mountain Laurel. It was more of a lavender shade. Although the '59s are considered the Iconic Cadillac, I always preferred the '60 because I think it looks just THAT MUCH longer because the tailfins aren't quite so high... Those cars look just like rocket ships to me. I've always wondered what those low mileage cars looked like when they got parked and also have always wondered what the original problem was? Usually it's something really simple. Cheers

*WHAT?!* You've got that priced way too high! You're making way too much money on KZbin! You should be giving the cars away a take a loss on all of them? . . . . . . Just a kidding! That engine ran really nice! I'm guessing the floats were cemented to the bottom of their bowls with the same black gunk you scraped up! See yah on the next video!

In 1974 I was a senior in high school and was taking an auto mechanics class, so I bought a black '60 Caddy from the junkyard. I ended up taking it partway apart then sending it back to the junkyard. It had a 4 speed automatic, dual exhaust with mufflers and resonators, a longer than normal battery, This was the first year for the spin on oil filter and the last year for dual exhaust. Mine did not have AC like this one, but it did have the Perfect Circle cruise control. I took that unit out and opened it up to see what was inside. When I go to a car show and see a '60 Caddy, the first thing I look for is the cruise control knob, and I rarely see it. The headlight dimmer in the '59 Caddy was the Autronic Eye, and in '60 It was smaller and was called Guidematic.

Nothing depreciates faster than a luxury car. After 20 years even the baling wire and exhaust putty guys can own one.

Old Duff really loves those luxury cars, good luck on the power and cold weather situation, at least you can still get fuel for the generator. I was looking at a dual fuel conversion for my generator so I had an option for propane, power has been pretty stable in our area for the past 10 years, we have gone as long as two weeks after an ice storm some years back. My parents were from south east corner of South Dakota(Alcester), they sold their farm in the mid 50's to move to the PNW. The plan was to get away from the weather after the neighboring farms barn was picked up by a tornado and dropped into one of their fields.

My Dad had a Cadillac in the 80's that had the auto bright/dim headlights. He didn't like it and had it disabled or turned it off or something. And the 2023 Ford Maverick truck(?) LOL I have ordered has it.

Looks like Mortske Worldwide Inc needs to get to work on their Weather Dominator machine.Srsly hope y'all have got power by now,I prefer the look of the 60 over the 59 Caddise, they look a little 'cleaner' I think.Car's a great candidate for an engine swap for sure, with a little body work.....

Great video! It is so nice of sir Duff to allow Poppy and Mr. Mortske to have a cameo appearance, at first I thought Duff was on vacation and hired a stunt double. Lol Take care, be safe.

So for all you Yanks thinking Canada is a frozen wasteland, here near Canukestan's capital we've had balmy weather until just recently. I might have caught sight of the first snow flake of the season but its warm enough to see it all disappear when it gets close to ground level. Remember more yanks live north of 50% of Canuks.

You and Duff riding in the golf cart , reminds me of mower man at the old shop. Living in the south we hardly get snow but always just enough ice to snap all the power lines. Good times.
