Dspiae Magnetic Paint Mixer Review.. Is no good for thick paints.. Only for very thinned Paints
I am a scale modeller so my review is based on that..
I bought this dspiae paint mixer tool on Amazon for £22.99.. It does mix paint but not thick paint.. In fact its has to be very thinned paint that you want to airbrush.. Probably end up catching dust someone.. Dspiae Magnetic Paint Mixer does have a Clever design with a nice sensor switch that on and off with ease.. But unless its something you would want to use to mix paint 50/50 in a bottle, then its not really worth buying.. I mix my paint in the airbrush.. as an example. You are better off with a Shaker not a Vortex machine

Hi MOS, thanks for such a great & honest review. When I saw the title of this review, I thought, that sounds a cool idea. But I was really disappointed with the product, especially when Dspiae normally has such a good reputation for the quality of their products. This is definitely not on my hobby bench shopping list.

Good neutral review - thank you. I use a very cheap and reliable method - one old .177 lead BB in the bottle or jar, one good shake, and don't drink the paint afterwards. I also have a battery powered hobby drill/sander/dremel type thing: a cocktail stick with a split in the end whizzes paint up in seconds. I wouldn't buy one of these type of mixers even if they worked to be fair.

I believe that the thickness of the bottom of the container affects how well it mixes. If the container is thicker, such as the Tamiya glass paint jar, the mixing rod inside the jar is farther away from the magnet contained in the mixer body. You referred to the Dspiae mixer as a vortexer. It is true that the steel rod is supposed to create a vortex action. However, as was demonstrated, there are other factors at play (strength of magnetic field), that influence the effectiveness of the vortex action. A true vortexer causes the whole paint container to move in a twirling motion when in contact with the vortexer's surface. This then creates a tornado effect inside the container. This movement of the paint does thoroughly mix it, even if it is thick to begin with. Paint can be thoroughly mixed in half a minute or so. The vortexing action is also helped if you place a stainless steel mixing jar in the container. To me, a vortexing movement seems superior for mixing paint as opposed to a shaking movement.

I use wooden craft sticks to stir all the paints that come in a jar, tamiya, mr hobby, mr color, real colors etc. None of those need much stirring, they don't tend to separate that much. But some kind of shaker would be good for vallejo model color, vallejo model air and ak interactive 3rd gen are thinner and don't usually need much shaking.

When you mix paint put thinner first, that way it mixes properly drawing the paint into the thinner.

I just read on the aliexpress, like you concluded it's meant for pre thinned paint. Might work with MRP though, at least with the ones in plastic bottle. But the bottom can't be curved, it has to be flat. Hobby Mio has a powerful shaker, but it costs more than double.
