Yes... it's not just about the money...but mostly the joy of achieving a creation that people are delighted to carry home

I love what you said! I'm so much more inspired to work on my art when I keep that in mind. Thanks for the reminder.🙏🏽

Love what you do! Inspirational! Reminds me of a house I saw while on vacation in Provincetown, Mass. It was almost covered with mosaic art. There was an enormous sculpted mosaic that wrapped itself around the house. Mosaic art was part of the foundation, sidings & mosaic animals. So magical. Incredible!

Wow. This is what I have been looking for. Fabulous & using rounded items in mosaics. Ie cups, teapots etc. Thanks

I have been looking up and down KZbin for something that even remotely resembles what I am going to do very soon and finally I have found a kindred spirit in this video. I wasn't even sure if it was possible to use broken crockery due the adhesive having to come into contact with one of the glazed sides - but it looks like it can be done with great success. Keep on making your dazzling creations and perhaps you'll inspire many generations that encounter your works. Thank you!

I have been thinking about Mosaicing for a long time and have finally this week orderd some tile clippers etc to get started. Your work is SO inspiring and beautiful. If I can do half as well I will be happy! Please keep sharing your videos! Where did you learn? Can you offer any advice to someone who has never done this before? I love the idea of recycling as much as possible. Thanks so much for sharing

thank you for commenting so enthusiastically, and have fun with making your own mosaics. My advice is to get to know your materials, and how you cut them, as you will find what you prefer. Some ceramics are really soft, easy to cut, but the glaze gets a bit jaggy, others are hard and offer more control when you get used to it, such as bone china. and always think of where you are placing your finished mosaic, here in Scotland, many ceramics are not suitable for outdoors, as the glaze will deteriorate in the winter frosts. Feel free to share the video out, it is quite a new one, and I am trying to gain a bit of traction via KZbin!

@@KatyGalbraith - thanks so much for your reply. I am ashamed to admit that my starting point was a blue and white china plate that I tried to cut with tile nippers. On the first cut tiny shards went everywhere and as I have 8 paws running around I left it and decided to wait for the summer months when I can tackle it outside. Feel like I've been beaten at the first hurdle! Your work is beautiful and I am sure you'll have a huge following in no time. Thanks so much for your advice. I am also in the UK so good to know that not all materials are suited for outdoors and our dreadful weather! - thank you. If you ever do "Mosaics for the total beginner" videos's I will be an avid follower!! Thanks again :)

Hi Katy, I want to make mosaic outdoor picture ( 1 m x 0.6m ) . what material should I use to make it waterproof ? use plywood ? with glue or else to glue the mosaic ?
@KatyGalbraith4 жыл бұрын
hello, just found this comment, sorry i didn't reply earlier! I would use a cement board of some kind for outdoors, definitely not wood as it would deteriorate quicker than the mosaic. I use a cement based adhesive and grout too.
