Spray the glass with the translucent spray paint or shake it in a cup with the bombay indian inks they do do not fade or run you do not have to seal them.I am looking at your other comments yes colored glass is better then the alcohol ink

I did this with puff paint from Dollar tree. Use your glass crumbs for this type of thing then you don't have to be so careful about placing the glass. Break the glass up small and then you can just pour it or spoon it on. Or you can have it chunky for a different look.

Hi, yes, resin can reactivate the alcohol ink & make it fade or bleed a little. I wonder if the inks would work better with Mod Podge? Also,I hadn't thought of using the Gallery Glass liner. I was thinking of trying to outline with clear glue or Liquid Nails & then use the black micro crushed glass to form lines like stained glass, then fill in areas with other colors of glass. Do you think that would work?
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Жыл бұрын
anything that is thick to hold the glass in place would work. clear elmer's glue is too runny. Well I was wondering what mica powder and mod podge would look like I need to try that

@HappyVacationer
@HappyVacationer 21 күн бұрын
I just saw this. Thanks! I went and bought some supplies today. Do you think the fire glass could actually be crushed inside a ziplock bag, slowly so not too small and so glass particles not spread? Thought they could then be poured on to the resin already painted on the glass. I saw someone doing a craft with tiny beads doing this on wood for ornaments.
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady 20 күн бұрын
So when you buy fire glass it is already broken up like this. This is 1/4 inch. If you want any of the pieces smaller you can cut them easily with a nippers. So this fire glass I actually painted the blue with alcohol ink and the yellow with translucent spray paint. You are best off staying away from the alcohol inks they fade. Mine did and I had to repaint it. So I think you are asking if you could paint the butterfly onto the glass and then pour the beads or glass onto the pained surface. fire glass has a flat side and if you were to just dump or pour them on it would not look the same. Beads you could. If you are looking for crushed glass michaels has a real pretty silver reflective. I am not sure if I am answering your question

Can resin be used on Plexi glass? I have two 6’ x 1’ windows on either side of my front door. I doubt if I could ever find frames those dimensions. I am going to try my first epoxy project. I have watched a couple of your great KZbin videos to help inspire and encourage me. Could you please tell me how you determine how much epoxy to mix for a 8” square project? I am thinking of pouring some epoxy on first to hold my glass in place. How long do I have to do my final pour? On your videos it looks like your pours cover all of you glass. How think do you usually pour? Is it necessary to have a kitchen torch? I think my husband has a blow torch, would that be something I could use?
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Жыл бұрын
Well I am probably the last one you should ask about how much to use because I always use too much LOL. Art resin has a youtube site with a calculator for the amount of resin to use for a project according to size ( I never go by it) But its suppose to be accurate. It says only 2 oz for an 8x8 So as far as how long you can work with the resin is dependent on the resin you use. Although a lot of the resins have similar instruction, each resin you need to read the instructions because some may set up faster then others . With Art resin you have at least 45 min. Every resin comes with there own set of instructions and its important that you read it. For the most part now I lay all my glass down and then pour resin over it because I like the glass to be shiny.. If you are working with Sea glass ( Tumbled glass) some like it to be frosted like real sea glass and prefer to place the glass in the resin so the top doses not get resin on it . Also when working with sea glass if it is a very light color and you pour the resin over it in makes it more translucent and more difficult to see. I would not use a Blow torch that sound dangerous. they do sell the grill lighters at the dollar tree or you could use a heat gun . I love the little kitchen torch i got mine on amazon I should have it linked in the description they are not that expensive. It really doesn't have to be that this just as long as it is touching all the glass it will hold it. I hope that helps If you tell me what your project is I may be able to help you further like is it canvas or Glass on glass what kind of glass.

@@crazyglasslady thank you so much for your quick reply. I’m doing a glass on glass. It will be a bird in a tree. It is all going to be very small pieces of glass. I’m going to try small pieces of browns for the tree and branches, sprinkle a mixture of different greens for the leaves with blues and white for the sky area. I’m just afraid if I don’t put some resin down first that it will move around and lose the shape of especially the bird. I saw you use a string of small black beads to outline something. Do you remember what they were and where I could get some? I would love to use that to outline the bird. Thanks again for all of your help. Have you ever mixed two different types of resin in order to use up bottles?
@crazyglasslady
@crazyglasslady Жыл бұрын
Sorry just seeing this it doesn't always notify me if its a reply to a reply. So I may have used a string of beads from a garage sale . But on my recent videos I have been using Rhinestone chains that I got on Amazon. Look at my most recent cat video or the one that comes out in the morning. And yes to the question about using 2 different resins I did that on the mermaid video that has the brown wood frame. I ran out of one and needed more so quickly mixed it up and poured it on the project and it was fine. If the bird is only a few inches I would suggest the 2mm chain there are links to them in the last 2 videos and the one that comes out in the morning. Hope that helps
