Hi Arden l am subscribed to a few mosaic groups. Sonya had the same problem or similar. Her goldfish were made with translucent orange and white glass. she could see where some spots the glue hadn't gone to the edges of some pieces. She mixed Wellbond glue With water 50/50. she brushed the watered down Weldbond in all the nooks and spaces Basically where the grout would go. She pushed the glue into the areas where she could see had no glue. with a lightly damp cloth she wiped away the weldbond a couple times so the glue was off the glass. She ket it dry probably 2 or 3 weeks. Then she grouted. Those air pockets were filled in and it looked great. The longer you let the glue dry before grouting the better. Hope this helps.

Julie, thank you so much for your videos. You are an excellent teacher, explaining things well and clearly. I just finished my first glass on glass mosaic after watching your video (a couple of times). It came out much better than I expected.

@@JulieWeilbacher Thanks for your reply Julie. Here's a photo of the GOG project. I think I need to watch your video about consistent grout lines. Keep up your good work & thanks for your continued work & videos.

I started out using frames with glass. I never used the tape from now on i will. I always had a hard time with the grout on the frames. I have done five or six framed glass items and with you help am getting better your videos are very helpful and I love them. thanks marion

Hi Marion! Wow you've made quite a few framed pieces! Sweet! Are they all GOG or are you mixing up the tesserae types? Great to hear that my videos have been helpful. That's the goal! Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🙌

Thank you for this video. Inspiring as usual. Have you ever worked with resin as a final application to put over a glass on glass mosaic as opposed to grout?
@JulieWeilbacher2 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward! Thanks for your kind words. It's great to hear you're getting value from my videos. I haven't used resin in a GOG mosaic but I've been getting a bunch of comments about it this week. I might need to try it out.....😮

Really enjoyed this, how did you secure the background substrate glass to the frame?

Hi Nancy! I showed how to do it in the video. It's glued in.😊

First, I want to say thank you for your videos they have been super fun and helpful.. Second, I was wondering if you have any suggestions for how to get rid of air pockets in between my glass pieces? I'm using clear blue glass and I'm finding that even though the glue dries clear, I can still see the texture of the glue where air was inside. I tried popping the bubbles with a toothpick and dropping the glass on the table a couple times before setting it in the frame but I just seem to have so many.. Thanks in advance!

Hi Arden! It's great to hear you're enjoying the videos! There are a few things I do when adhering glass to glass. First, I 'shimmy' the piece of glass a little to the glass substrate. This not only creates friction between the two pieces of glass, but also gets rid of any potential of air bubbles. Second, often I will run a toothpick through the adhesive between two pieces of adhered glass. I've found that breaking that 'tension line' also helps to eliminate any air bubbles as well as any possibly of the glass substrate cracking under pressure. Hope this helps! Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!

Hi Julie. I bought some Mother of Pearl mosaic tiles. They are that thin that i don't know how to cut them!! I want them to stick on MDF Angel wings. Please help! Many Thanks

Hi ladylinda ives! Have you tried using wheeled glass nippers? If that was too much try a Dremel. There are tiny saws which jewelers use but that might be too much vibration if they're that thin/fragile. Keep creating and I'm so glad you're here!🔥

Did you use silicone to glue the glass into the frame?

Hi Donna! I used Weldbond, but you can certainly use silicone. Keep creating and I'm glad you're here!🔥
