Great video! Some of the older games, like Mosby's Raiders, remain innovative after all these years. This is a game I have, but have yet to play. Your video will definitely move it ahead on my play list. Thank you.

I just picked this game up and some others such Open Fire and Ambush! - Looking forward to playing them but one thing I’ve learned for sure is that I need a larger table. These maps are much larger than I realized! Thanks for the video, appreciate you.

Thanks for another engrossing video, D! I found your discussion on "gameyness" thought-provoking, the annotations throughout very helpful, and as usual the overall approach to your treatment spot on. No doubt it'll end up costing me money in a good way. Oh, love the crochet hook pointer too. :)

Thanks for watching, M! Most appreciated and thanks for noting my crochet hook. I'm so glad I finally found a use for it as I definitely don't do crochet. :) Your latest is on my list to watch; I was happy to see a new upload from you too.

I think Victory Games consistently published the best & clearest rules in the industry. That said, this is the one game of theirs I struggled to grok and the frustration with it, led to my giving up on it and trading it. I have learned since then that poor rulebooks are almost always poor because of layout, rather than text and I think you nailed it, that they group the rules by action rather than phase. Rules should be in sequential order rather than topical.

How is this old video from YOU again entering into my life?? First you were my favorite reviewer of Barbarian Vince and got me hooked up with an official copy. Then (in a totally unrelated way) you helped lure me into D100 Dungeon to which my current solo gaming experience is dedicated. Tonight I just rediscovered Mosby's Raiders on BGG, and it happens to be THE game that got me into solo board games back in the 80s when I was about 13 -- I just couldn't remember the title until today, when I found it by random chance. I did a title search on KZbin, and HERE YOU ARE again doing full coverage on it!!! I need to find this game again, asap. You are my solo gaming guardian angel LOL
@GeekGamers013 жыл бұрын
Well that’s amusing! KZbin knows all! If you track down a copy of Mosby’s I don’t think you will be disappointed. It’s a design that holds water even today. Great game! Somebody should take this system and apply it to another setting-like a Cold War-ish but futuristic spy thing... would work well for that. Stay tuned to the channel for some more d100 vids.

Wow this is real GEM! Had no idea how this game played, it's really innovative. This game is now a must buy especially since I used to live in Manassas and now near Chantilly. Heck they name roads after this guy. Can't believe the scope of operations in this game back then for these folks, especially when the area is now about the most gridlocked area in the country. My compliments on your review again another outstanding review on a under appreciated gem.
@GeekGamers017 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I really do enjoy this game and IMO it has good replay value. Not because the map or pieces or goals change--they are static as you'd expect from a game of this era--but because the tension is so great and the feeling of trying to get away with as much as you can is very much brought out by how the game plays.
@perfidiousalbion59857 жыл бұрын
I think this design would be amazing if applied to the East African Campaign of the First World War in which a huge Allied force of British, South African, and the King's African Rifles chased a tiny German force all over East Africa, and Northern Rhodesia. The German force, commanded by General Paul von Lettow Vorbeck, exploits is definitely the stuff of legend and he remained undefeated when they learned of the Axis surrender two days after 11 November 1918. Marching in to surrender their arms to the Alles, they were accorded the full honors of war. On 2 March 1919, von Lettow Vorbeck and his 155 Germans marched through Berlin under arms.

This is one of the games that belongs to my father's board games collection. I was playing it when i was at school. The theme and the overall feeling are very good, but the game was very easy for me to win after i had played it for 5-10 times. The last time i played it was 10 years ago and i can say its replay value is not very high. The cut on the corners of the playing pieces (even the round ones) makes them look like they are crippled to me. My board game looked different because of this.

Thanks for this review! I haven't played this game for a long time, but I love it... also love the "Ambush" system (have "Ambush" and "Move out"). I find a lot of value in many older games... am a great fan of old AH games, and love some of these older games. I'm going to drag out my copy of the game and play it soon...

G.G. Thanks for another interesting posting. I wonder which current games will be considering "classics" 25 years from now. This game anticipated many features which are common today. Its strange that there were not other games based on this system in the 80's.

Best Regards, I like the system of Mosby's Raiders and I wonder... if are there any wargames with hexes that have a similar system? When I say wargame I mean that the player should have more than one counter and the scale of the wargame should not be very large. Whether it is solitaire or not is not important, thanks.
