One of the books that have left an imprint on me is ''Red Mafyia'' by Robert Friedman, from 1999. Friedman died shortly after the book came out, and I'm sure he was murdered. Moldova's President Maia Sandu is facing a difficult run-off election, as Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov is bringing manipulation into play. According to the first partial results of the presidential election, Sandu was in the lead with 38%, but the “moderate pro-Russian” socialist Stoianoglo received significantly more votes than expected.
