Watching this video is like a mini-journey through space and time. I have revisited often over many years now. It reminds me of another video I also revisit by Sigur Ros, Untitled #8, Live.

It's missing because whoever put this on KZbin converted it down to mono. In the original on Moshcam Drew is still there in the left channel. This version only has the right channel coming through as dual mono. Original - moshcam.com/karnivool/metro-theatre-604.aspx#/13-change-parts-1-and-2
@WiresAndChords6 жыл бұрын
I like it because it helps understand what Hoss is playing w/o Drew. It's a mix-minus ;) Thankfully there's a few other better-mixed versions online so we're not completely bereft of Drew's guitar. IIRC in All I Know from the same gig/moshcam shoot, Drew's mandolin comes through because it was on a little Fender, not his 5150 half-stack.

Nice of kenny to play guitar, you can tell he’s a learner he’s looking at the frets each time he changes chords! But good effort!

I have Always enjoyed the singers voice, but _something_ about That particular moment of this performance he picked up the acoustic guitar *sold* him to me as the second coming of Jeff Buckley. The guy might lack the ability Jeff had, but he is Genuine and Everything he does is without plain showing off, which was the same with Jeff. Not just that, but all in all Sound Awake has quickly become one of my favorite metal/rock records from the 2010s along with White Pony, IOWA, Untitled by Sigur Ros, Catch 33 (in my opinion an Absolute masterpiece and one of the greatest albums Period), Drawing Circles, In Rainbows, and as I just noticed that leaves 3 spots still open for an album from either 2003, 04 or 07 to make it as re-listenable as the aforementioned ones. That said, I have yet to hear Karnivool's last album, and honestly I find it Very hard to revisit Themata. It has some good ideas, but overall I just dont like the song-writing and some of the more *bold* stylistic choices, but I hope to give it a go soon enough.
@BigThommo3 жыл бұрын
Bro , seriously ? You don't like the song writing - as in the lyrics themself or the delivery ? Why ? Why do you feel this way - please explain
@19RaxR913 жыл бұрын
@@BigThommo Oh, I dont even consider lyrics as important when listening to music, as the music is what its all about for me. If the lyrics are great, Great, but I will never force myself a song with great lyrics if it musically doesnt grab me. the piece of music even if the lyrics are great. Therefore, what I meant by not liking the songwriting was that I dont like how the songs themselves are written musically, as they either feel too cliche at this point (had I listened to it when I was a teen, e.g. when it came out, I might feel differently), doesnt grab me, or just to me sounds unpalatable due to stylistic choices (as an example, I dont like the song Themata itself - I just cant enjoy it, as the eastern sounding motif has never been to my liking). Overall, its not that the material on the album is bad or anything, its just that after Sound Awake, which imo is Such a huge leap forward, I just currently have trouble appreciating it as much. Also, Ive finally went through Asymmetry a couple of times, and that album is Really wild and quite impenetrable at first, but certainly something to return to. I will come back for Themata at some point.

I fucking love Jeff Buckley and I agree something about Kenny reminds me of him. It’s the power in their voices and the vulnerability and rawness of their performances. They are such moving singers who really make you feel the lyrics they sing
