They are long enough to use them on a 50 cm long middle sized board from one end to the other diagonally

If I own one in the US can it be used in the UK or Ireland?

Yes, the unit itself is ok, but change the charger to the right voltage one. US 110 Volt to 12 Volt, Europe 220 to 12 Volt charger dedicated to guitar pedals. At least 1000 mAh, I guess
