No copyright infringement intended. I did this extended version quite a while ago...just realized I hadn't posted it. Hope you enjoy it! The final song attributed to Diana Ross and the Supremes.

I love this song! Back in the "world" I was struggling with the post Nam War dreams real bad. In 1971, I got into my Bonneville and drove away from my family on base. I popped a Motown 8-track tape in and this song came on. As the lyrics cut through my PTSD I was able to turn my car around and go back home. Again, that was in 1971. In 2023, my family and I are still "TOGETHER"💞

67 year old white male. Grew up in a multi racial town. Motown ruled, dominated and determined a ton of goodness. Everybody danced at every celebration. These ladies were exemplary and talented beyond measure. Can't think of another musical era with so many trail blazers and talented musicians!!!!!!! The list is endless. 4 Tops, The Temptations, Barry Gordy, Supremes, Smokey, Marvin , and on it goes. I am grateful for their talents all these years later......

My mother sung this song to me in July 1970 when my great-grandmother died. I remember looking at her with tears streaming down my 9 year old face asking her was she sure I’d see granny again. Smiling she said yes. When my father died some years later, l dusted it off and sung it to my inconsolable mother. She remembered what she told me. She smiled. Years later l dusted it off a final time and had it sung at my mother’s funeral. 😔 This is the first time I’ve allowed my self to listen to in 22 years. Still hurts. So, so sad. -RIP Mama

WHEN FLORENCE BALLARD WAS FIRED,THE HARMONY CHANGED . CINDY BIRDSONG COULD NOT REACH THOSE HIGH NOTES LIKE FLORENCE COULD. SO I HEAR A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE GROUP WHEN CINDY BIRDSONG CAME IN. FLORENCE HAD A BIGGER VOICE CAN REACH HIGH NOTES. CINDY COULD NOT DO THAT. WHEN FLO WAS FIRED,THE SOUND CHANGED A BIT. BUT I KEPT ON BEING A HUGE FAN OF THE SUPREMES RIGHT UP TO 1971. REST IN PEACE FLORENCE BALLARD, YOU ARE ALWAYS MISSED AND LOVED. YOUR BIRTHDAY IS JUNE 30,2020 REST IN POWER MY LOVE. HAPPY 77TH BIRTHDAY IN HEAVEN.

I too, loved her & wondered when& why she was replaced by Cindy Birdsong, never realizing that she was, in fact, sadly fired! I was a young teenager back then & so loved all their music. I have read what Mary Wilson has said(she was so amazing, too) & vocal about stating, it wasn’t right how Florence was treated! Thank-you so much Lawrence for your informative & very interesting comment. I so enjoyed reading more about this extraordinary group( I felt so bad for Florence not being in the group any longer )but didn’t hear anything about it, back then! Thanks for the info again & take care!❤️

I wish we had sweet music like this today! Growing up in this era was such a great wonderful time! My mama used to always tell me, like the song ,The Supremes sing also...You Can't Hurry Love, she meant it has to be right on the time. I often think of her when I hear this song and others. Nothing like the good old days of the 60s and 70s! Thank you Supremes, sharing this classic song, "Someday we'll be Together"⭐️⭐️⭐️💕💕💕 🙏🙏🙏😇😇😇 I LOVE IT!🌷🌹⚘️

The faint encouraging male voice singing ad-lib background vocals is Johnny Bristol, one of the three songwriters who wrote the lyrics and musical score. He had previously recorded the song under a different label and during Diana's session with Motown, Barry Gordy sequestered Johnny into the studio to prompt Diana to sing on point and to assist in acquiring the mood and feel that he intended the song to hold. Originally his vocals were to be dubbed out for the final cut, but in the end Gordy felt that leaving them in added depth and a reinforcing echo harmony that complimented Diana's vocals instead of distracting from them.
@JonnyQ358
@JonnyQ358 5 жыл бұрын
I believe Mr Gordy was right..And it also helped to establish the fact the song was about a requited love which still had a glimmer of hope..Not the idea the group was breaking up as many at first believed..To the contrary even though Ross had departed the group the Supreme's now lead by Jeane Terrell continued to have great success on the charts scoring several more top ten hits..

Gary John Baker Glad to hear that I am not the only one, that can not stand listening to “Christmas music”, that seems to start earlier & earlier every single yr! One station here in western Massachusetts ( USA) only played Christmas music from October through end of December. A cable tv station played all Christmas movies nonstop too, so I know exactly what you are talking about!🤣 I can not stand Christmas music overload either! I sooooo love the “Motown Sound” & ate Supremes( best memories of my teenage yrs)! This song in particular just “tugs at my heart”, bringing back memories of fun times with special friends & people! Loved this song in particular & “I HEAR A SYMPHONY”, as well( all their songs are amazing!)!

I could weep listening to this music. Black Americans should be proud of the music written and sung by your parents/grandparents. This is from a Scotsman in his 60's who loves this music. I wish today's music could be anywhere near this for quality but it isn't.

Yes,the sixties were the best! I am white, never knew what prejudice was and loved .motown and the dancing style! There was romance, love and power during that time. I see no difference in races. May the extremists get a taste of their own medicine!!!!!

Rob Connors I had my little transistor radio too! I was 13 & 14 in 1963 & ‘64 , when I got it & my girlfriend Lynn and I loved listening to our radios. We would rush back to my house for 1;00 pm each day( Monday thru Friday) to watch Shindig on our little tv in the upstairs bedroom!!! Funny the fun memories that come back! I can’t believe I remember time Shindig was even on after all these years!🤣
